Advent! - Part 2

 It's hard for me to keep up with the advent, but the girls love it! I'm pretty sure Lou thinks advent is just breakfasts and presents. Haha. We do have some other ones not pictures like writing thank you notes to their Sunday School teachers, wrapping presents, making birthday cards for the December birthdays, doing something nice for a sister, etc. But then we do have a lot of breakfast like reindeer pancakes...

One of our traditions is going to Chinese food and then driving around to look at Christmas lights. Bug took the little ones to the bathroom and then came back with this picture...

 

 

So when the rest of us went to the bathroom the girls wanted to recreate it. Lol.

 

 

After that we left to find some lights. This is always the best house!

Advent!

 We have been having all sorts of advent fun. We always start off with a Lego advent calendar. This year I also found a puzzle advent where you get to open a small box of pieces each day. The picture is the nativity.

A movie night at our church...

 

 

 I helped decorate and serve popcorn. Noni let us borrow her popcorn signs.

 

 

There were toppings to put in the popcorn. Of course the kids loved that!

 

 

I think Boo must have gotten this picture because she had my phone for a bit.

 

 

We had a good turnout! About 60 people.

 

 

The movie was a big hit and the kids loved it!

Leftover Thursday

We had our first real snow in early November. It didn't stick around too long, but the girls were super excited to get their snow clothes on and go outside!  

 

 

They stayed out for a long time! Longer that I was anticipating. I had let them go out mid-morning so they could play before it melted, but we still had school to do afterwards. They were chilly so we started a fire and did school in the living room while they warmed up.

 

 

Buggy had her re-birthday a few weeks ago. She requested staying home and playing a game and having enchiladas for dinner. We got her the newest Odyssey.

 

 

Noni took her Sunday school students to a movie! They had so much fun and went to one of those ones where you can order food. 

 

 

Boo's hair is getting so long!!

 

 

Future dentists? They are always so interested when we go. Five mouths and no cavities! Success!

 

 

The other day we lost Nala for a couple hours. We looked EVERYWHERE. Literally everywhere I could possibly think of on all three floors of our house. We searched and searched. Peanut finally found her in the pantry IN the noodle box. :P I had checked the pantry because she's hidden in there before, but she wasn't in any of her favorite spots. It didn't occur to me to look inside a box on an upper shelf. :P 

 

 

The epitome of laziness? Buddy's dinner was crawling all over him and he did nothing but give them the stink eye. Haha.

Merry Christmas (program)!

 Noni put on an amazing Christmas program yet again! She had the kids do a reenactment of Mary and Joseph taking baby Jesus to the temple and meeting Simeon. It was wonderful! 

 

The girls were excited that they got to wear costumes. Lou told me she was in a family and Peaches was a rich girl. :)  

 

Grandma S did the narration again this year.  

 

 Peanut played Joy to the World while the kids sang. 

And Lou got to do the offertory! I didn’t video because I was helping her. 

 

Wonderful job kids!! Thank you for blessing us! And wonderful job directing Noni!! We loved it! 

Cookie Time!

 We have been busy doing all the Christmas things over here! On a rare day when we got to stay home we made up a double batch of sugar cookies and went to town cutting and shaping!

 

 

I thought about skipping the sugar cookies this year but they love it!

 

 

Peanut took a break from her schoolwork to come cut out some dough as well. 

 

 

Then when Bug and Boo got home we started frosting. 

 

 

I let the big girls decorate first to cut down on the chaos. Haha. 

 

 

 They are much more detailed and precise. :)

 

 

Here are the big girls' creations. They took their cookies to church for their discipleship program.

 

 

I did a base of frosting on most of the other cookies and then we let the little ones at it.

 

 

Peaches did a great job decorating this year! She had some nice detail!

 

 

Lou was a little less precise but even she did a great job and we hardly had any mess at all compared to years past!

 

 

I let them lick the bowls after we were all finished. I think that was their favorite part. Haha.

 

 

I put the cookies in tins and after dinner I cleaned up all the mess while T took the girls around the neighborhood delivering cookies and Christmas cards. I got texts from all the neighbors saying how sweet the girls were and how they were so happy to see them. Great job spreading Christmas joy girls!
