Leftover Thursday

 Back in November Noni had the girls over for a few hours to decorate her tree.

 

 

Also in November was Buggy's re-birthday! She got to go to the overnight retreat for youth leaders and had a blast. 

 

 

Peanut made a cake for her while she was gone. 

 

 And we celebrated with her favorite...hamburgers.

 

 We got her an Odyssey set and a new devotional.

It is so wonderful to see her growing in her relationship with the Lord. We are very blessed! 

School and Shots

 Lou had to get her two year old shots shortly after her birthday. That is the one appointment I hate the most. I can handle the baby shots, knowing it is for their own good, but at age 2 they know what is going on but don't understand why. 

 Then they hate going to the doctor for the next year or two so I came up with a plan. I prefer the clinic in the town to the East of us and almost always take the girls there so I had Daddy take Lou to the West town clinic. I figured a different clinic, taken by a different parent, might help her disassociate the shots with her usual doctors visits. We will see next time we have to go if it worked. 

I dropped her off at the hospital and then ran some errands while T took her in. He sent me a couple pictures. She wasn't overly excited to be there.

 

 

And was crying well before the shots got anywhere near her. :P

 

 

 

When I picked her up she looked so small and pathetic with her red rimmed eyes and safety sucker sticking out of her mouth that I had to take a picture. 

 

 

Thankfully she had no side effects and just a little soreness the rest of the day. She was 24 lbs. 3 oz. in the 18th percentile and 34 3/4 in in the 82nd percentile. Long and lean. Haha. And if the double their height at 2 thing is true she'll be almost 5' 10! It will be interesting to see!

 

We picked up Peaches from school. Miss J said, "She was so busy making (pretend) cakes all day she's tired!" And sure enough she fell asleep on the way home. Haha.

 

 

Speaking of school these are pictures of Peaches' "class Thanksgiving feast". 

 

 

She loves school, and her friends, and her teacher. She loves everything about it and I'm very thankful she is still able to go this year!

 

 

Here is her hat she made that day. Such a sweet girl. 

We have a lot to be thankful for! Especially preschool and no more baby shots!

Happy 70th Grandpa!

 We knew for Grandpa's 70th birthday that we wanted to do something special. He is always doing SO much to help us out and giving up weekends for us. We literally would be only half as far along on our house and years away from being finished without his help. 

 So when I heard that Jax's parents were having another litter my wheels started spinning. :)  I talked to the breeder and she said there were five people on the list so I told her to put me down and if they had an extra girl we would take her. They were born in mid-October and they did indeed have an extra girl! I was convinced it was a match made in heaven. T thought it was a huge gamble, but I knew Grandpa would love it! 

Grandma and Grandpa came out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, driving home at night and then coming back the next day. We planned a small birthday party for Grandpa on Sunday night and told him we would get Mexican food. We went to pick up the Mexican food and picked up a little something else...this little cutie!!!

 

 

They were VERY surprised! But, as I'd hoped, very happy!

 

We were only around her a couple hours that night but she was such a good puppy! She didn't whine a single bit! When we first brought Jax home he was such a scaredy cat...trying to hide and whining constantly. T had gone and put a collar on her the week before when people were coming to pick their puppies. The breeders told him which were the calmest and he said the other two girls were whining and squirming to get down so he picked this one.

She snuggled right into his chest like she knew she belonged.

 

 

Grandpa finished opening his presents...some puppy chew toys and training treats.

Then it was time for dinner. Grandpa set her down on his coat.

 

 

 And she didn't move a muscle until we were done eating! In fact she fell fast asleep. What a sweet girl!

 

 

Buggy made Grandpa a beautiful red velvet cake.

 

 

 

And we sang happy birthday. 

Then the girls all wanted a turn holding the puppy before they left.

Then Grandma finally got a turn to hold her. 

And I took a few pictures of her. She is such a sweetie.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!!! We hope you will have many many happy years together!!!

O Christmas Tree

 I think this is the first time in my life I have ever decorated a Christmas tree on Thanksgiving day. Noni always said we had to wait until at least the day after Thanksgiving so I have followed suit...except this year she put her tree up weeks before Thanksgiving, haha. We knew we wouldn't have any other chance to do it on our busy Thanksgiving break so we put it up on Thanksgiving night. 

Another first...we didn't have a single broken ornament! Mostly because we didn't put up any that were overly breakable. I've always heard that cats are really bad about knocking over Christmas trees. Sure enough within minutes of bringing our fake tree into the house Taco climbed to the very top section! We pulled him down and he went right back up! We normally tie the tree to a nail in the wall, but this year T put in three eyehooks and we used our usual string PLUS two small wires to secure the tree! It's not going anywhere. Haha.

We made our hot cocoa, put on our Santa hats and Christmas music and got busy trimming the tree!

 

 

Daddy made sure no breakable ornaments got put on by little fingers.

Lou got into the decorating this year, and the undecorating and redecorating in the days following. :P

 

 

Peanut got the distinction of putting the star on top this year.

And it all turned out as beautiful as ever! Or should I say Bootiful. Haha.

 

 

I think we are going to have to get a second tree one of these days. This isn't even half our ornaments. 

We grabbed a family picture before cleaning up for the night.

 

 

And then a more accurate family picture. Haha. But Queso is the best part of it. He cracked me up when I looked at it later.  

I'm glad there are still many Christmas traditions that couldn't get Covid-cancelled!
