Check-Up

Boo’s 2 year check-up was this morning.  She did a pretty good job.  She didn’t want the dr. to look in her eyes or ears so Bug let her look in hers first and then Boo allowed it as well. 

Boo answered all the questions the dr. asked except when the dr. asked if she knew her full name she didn’t say anything so I said, “Can you say your name?” and she said, “I Boo Bear.”  Haha:) 

The only shot she had to have was the Hepatitis A.  She was pretty brave and only cried for a few minutes so we took her to get ice cream at Sonic after lunch.

She is proud of her bandaid and says, “My owie.  Pinch!”

She is now in the 55% exactly for both height and weight.

27.1 pounds

34 inches

Which means that if the double their height at two thing is true, she will be 5’8.  If I remember right Bug’s was 5’10 which means both my girls might end up taller than me! 

The dr. says she looks great in all other respects and is doing really well developmentally.  One of the questions was whether or not she knows 20+ words.  The dr. said, “Well since I’ve already heard more than 20 words out of her I’m going to check yes on that one.” and Boo wasn’t even talking that much when we were in there.  She should hear the chatterbox that comes out when we are at home! :)

They were pretty impressed that she is potty trained already.  She said that the average for the kids they see is 3 1/2 – 4. 

But the best news is that she doesn’t have to have shots for two more years! 

So to sum up we’ve got a happy, healthy two year old! 

Who might end up two inches taller than her mother! :P

2 Year’s Old!

We started out Boo’s birthday at 7:30 a.m. with a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday and a balloon that is as big as she is. :)

Daddy had to go to work and K had to go to preschool so Boo and I had her favorite breakfast…”beagles” of course.  And then our friend Miss B brought her a birthday donut so she got to eat again. :)

Daddy took off about 11:30 and we all headed to town for lunch of the birthday girl’s choice, “donals”.

Noni met us there.

And what more fitting birthday fun than to find out that you can FINALLY climb to the top of the playset!  She usually just climbs up the first platform and sits there until Bug comes back down the slide…it’s rather sad actually.  But on Friday we discovered that she is now tall enough to make it all the way up!  Bug helped her navigate the tunnels and she went up, through, and down the slide over and over.

After lunch the birthday girl went with Noni to take a nap and we took Bug to the mall to pick out a birthday present. 

We met up later with Noni, Papa, Mama, Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Nae, and Waylon and headed to the activity center.

I had ordered this cake from the little bakery here in town and it turned out so cute!  Boo was SO excited to eat her “pincess cake” that she couldn’t even eat her dinner.  It was pretty spectacular.  The top was white with raspberry filling and the bottom was red velvet (four layers each!)!

It must have looked too good to wait so she managed to swipe some frosting. :)

We let the kids play on the playground and inflateables for a while before eating.

Then we made them sit down and attempt to eat pizza before cake.  It didn’t go over so well but at least we tried. :)

She didn’t want to blow out the candle so Daddy and Bug helped out.

Yum.  Dee-licious!

Then it was on to presents.  She got so many fun things!

Noni and Papa bough this adorable swimsuit and hat.  I can’t wait to see it on her this summer!

Here’s the soon to be birthday boy (wearing a very masculine Ariel crown, haha)!  I can’t believe these babies are already two years old!

Grandma and Grandpa found an Aurora dress (one of the only ones we don’t have)!

Uncle Sean sent this adorable “Affa pig!!!” toy.  I didn’t even know they made these, but he found it after he discovered that Super Why is her favorite show.  She LOVED it!  She said, “I yike it!  I hug affa pig!”

Aunt Wendy bought her a princess shirt, tights, and princess tennis shoes.  She loves them so much she wouldn’t wear her church shoes this morning.  She insisted on “pincess soos” with her dress and tights. :)

Pawpaw and Nana and Grandma V and Grandpa J all gave her birthday money so we’ll have to take her to the store and let her pick something out.

Noni and Papa also bought her an kid-sized overstuffed chair and ottoman to go in her new big girl room.

Mama bought her purple polka dot sheets for her new room.

We bought her a quilt from Pottery Barn that I have been eyeing for the past year.

Auntie Nae made her an adorable yellow apron with a blue flower.  I will have to get a picture of her in it.  It’s so cute!

Uncle B and Auntie M got her a kitchen/food set.

Aunt J and family got her purple polka dot curtains and curtain rod for her new room.

And Aunt Karen bought her a adorable green lamp.

I can’t wait to finish the upstairs and put all her new things in her big girl room!

After the presents we did some more bouncing and sliding.

This little section was actually pretty hard to climb up but they did it over and over again.  Every time Boo would grunt and whisper “climb, climb, climb…” all the way up it.

We finished the night with a little bowling.  Victory dance!

What a wonderful birthday for a big two year old!  She had a blast!

Thanks for the wonderful presents everyone!  I’ll be sure to post lots of pictures when we can get her new room all set up!

Happy Birthday Boo Bear!

I can’t believe she’s two!  It has gone so fast!  I knew it would and I can honestly say I’ve done better cherishing the little moments than I did with K (when I was just trying to figure out what to do each day), but it still seems like she is getting too big too fast!  I guess that’s how every mother feels about her baby. 

This kid is hilarious.  She literally makes me laugh out loud a dozen times a day.  Sometimes I just sit down and watch her play because she is so stinking funny!  I think part of it is her ability to talk.  Since K didn’t really start talking until the summer after she turned two it seems so strange to me that Boo talks in long sentences and can easily carry on a conversation. 

I have been compiling a list of some my favorite things that she says…

~ When we are listing to Odyssey in the car it will pause for a few seconds and then start up again (between scenes).  Every time it happens she says, “More Od-see Mommy.” and then I don’t do anything and it comes back on, “Tank oo Mommy”.

~ She says “Bess you” anytime we sneeze, cough, blow our noses or make any kind of funny noise with our noses or mouths.

~ When she wants to suck her thumb she says, “ I seepy.  Suck fumb.” (since we only let her do it at night/naptime). Although I’m trying to break her of thumb sucking altogether since I’ve been noticing she has quite the overbite. :/

~ “My turn Mommy!” means it’s Mommy’s turn.

~ Sometimes she will do something and we laugh so she does it again and says, “I funny gin.”

~ “More gin.” means do it again.

~ “Share po.”  We hear this when she climbs into bed with us in the morning.  It means she wants us to share our pillows with her.

~ “Peek – o” means peek-a-boo.

~ “Beep beep” means get out of my way or as I would prefer, excuse me. :)

~ “Bear, mines.” means that bear is mine. She will do this with any object. “Sippy, mines.” means that sippy cup is mine, etc. 

~ “Luff oo!” means I love you.

~ “I cheese picture Mama.” means I want you to take my picture.

~ “Read me Mama.” means I want you to read to me.

~ “I you Boo Bear.” means I’m your Boo Bear. :)

~ “Tummy hungy.” means I’m hungry.  We’ve been working on this because it used to be that every time she was hungry OR full she would say, “Tummy sick.”

~ “Hands feez-ing” means my hands are freezing, do something about it! :)

~ “Help me.” we hear this one a lot.

~ “Pick up me.” we hear this one a lot A LOT. :)

~ “Seep good Mommy?  I seep good.” She says this every morning and after nap.

~ “Unnies off!  I nakey!” she LOVES to be naked!  We only indulge her right before her bath, although now that she knows how to get undressed we have to watch for random streaking. :)

~ “Get dess.” means I want to get dressed.  Unlike her sister, who would stay in her pjs all day every day if we would let her, Boo wants to get dressed pretty much immediately after waking up each morning.

~ “No can reach it!” She says this whenever she needs help to get something out of reach.

~ “Ow bout…” means how about (whatever we’re choosing).

~ “I yike it!” whenever she finds something good. :)

I’m sure there are more because she is literally saying new things every hour of the day.  A friend told me that they learn ten new words a day at this age.  At first that seemed like an exaggeration but I think its true!  She is always saying something new…most things she copies from her sister. :)

I decided to sit her down and ask her few questions for this “two” post (mostly because I want to remember how she sounds at two).  Here are her answers:

These were unrehearsed and I was a little surprised at the “pizza” and “yeh-do” answers.  I guess I’ve never asked her what her favorite color was before.  I wasn’t surprised at the “beagles” because she LOVES bagels and cream cheese and asks for them a lot. 

She has her two year checkup next week so I will post her “stats” then.  For a little while I thought maybe she was losing weight because her pants got REALLY loose.  Then I realized (DUH) that it was because she was wearing “unnies” instead of a diaper.  Haha:)

We’re having a small get together with the family tonight so they’ll be lots of pictures tomorrow.  For now I’m going to go celebrate with my beautiful birthday girl!

Mommy loves you Boo!  You make my world a better place!

Snow Ice Cream

When it snowed the other day I promised K that we could make snow ice cream.  Since it didn’t turn out so well last year I went on the All Recipes website and looked up a few tips.  Several of the recipes called for evaporated milk so, since I had some in the cupboard, I decided to give it a try.  It worked much better than last year and the girls really liked it.  The evaporated milk made it taste a lot like homemade ice cream, although you could definitely still tell it was snow with the ice crystals.  K had fun helping me mix it up.

All our snow is currently in a big melt…and tonight will refreeze. :{  We had literally 4-6 inches of ice covering our sidewalk this morning and when we went out today it was like walking on a melting ice skating rink.  K slipped on our top step and went bouncing down the stairs and landed on the ice covered sidewalk (even though I’d told her a dozen times to go slow and be careful).  There were many tears. :/  Hopefully things will dry out or we may need to start wearing ice skates just to get around town!

Ready to Party

Boo’s party supplies came the other day.  It is so hard to believe that she is going to be two on Friday!  She still seems like a baby to me in so many ways, but at the same time she is such a little person.  She makes us laugh ALL day long.  What a funny little personality she has.

She was so excited when I told her what was in the box. 

She looked through each thing carefully, exclaiming over each princess she found.

“Yook Ma-ma!”

 

I pray she will always have such a joyful outlook on life.  You make our world a brighter place, Boo Bear.

Princess Party

On Thursday we braved the snow to go to Noni’s house for a princess party.  Our good friends, and missionaries to Siberia, are back in the states awaiting the birth of their third child so Noni decided to have a party for the girls before he gets here.  She decorated the shop and handed out tickets that the girls could use to see the movie and buy snacks. 

It was so cute.  Here’s Boo buying some apples before the show.

Then it was time for the main event.  We watched Rapunzel on the big screen/projector. 

They loved it!

After the movie we went up to the house and ate pizza.  I was surprised that the girls all ate so well after eating popcorn and rice crispy treats and apples. :)

What a fun princess party!  We are so glad you are back guys, and can’t wait to meet the newest member of your family!!!

Snow Day

The girls and I had a self-proclaimed snow day yesterday.  It wasn’t exactly intentional…when we woke up I checked the website of one of the local news stations and it said the school here was closed for a snow day so since Bug’s preschool follows the school I kept her home.  But apparently they were misinformed because there was school.  Oh well.  We all stayed home and went out to play in the snow. 

Playing in the snow ranks right up there with finger painting for me.  It takes ten-fifteen minutes to have everyone go potty and get all bundled up and then I am usually freezing after being outside for five.  We usually don’t stay out very long and then we all come in and it takes a while to get all the snow clothes off and then there are clumps of melting snow trailed through the house, no matter how much I try to contain it to the entryway.  All that to say I don’t take them out very often.  BUT since this is our first real snow since November I was able to muster the enthusiasm and take them out.

I’m glad I did because they, Bug especially, had a ball. 

And the #1 reason I love the snow…you can’t even tell that right above Bug’s head is a huge pile of wood and siding that is waiting to be put up this spring.  All that is showing is the cardboard box with the smaller pieces. :)

Boo didn’t really know what to do since this was her first real snow experience.  It was just deep enough that she had a hard time walking so she mostly stood still trying to regain her balance.  I had to hold her hand before she would attempt to walk anywhere.

Bug dove right in though…literally.  I think she made about a dozen snow angels.

Then they found the wheelbarrow and thought it was the greatest thing since pb&j.

And, unburying it, they found a miniature ice skating rink at the bottom. :)

Then Boo got the great idea to taste the snow.

I’m not sure it was quite what she was expecting.

She got pretty cold after that (since she wasn’t moving around much) and wanted to go inside.  Daddy was outside using his new snow blower for the first time so I let Bug go in the backyard.  I kept checking on her, afraid she was going to get frostbite or something, and finally made her come in after about an hour and half.  She loved it!  I’ll have to be better about letting her go out more often.  And as a bonus it totally tired them out and they both slept till after nine this morning.  So nice. :)
