Happy Re-birthday Bug!

Buggy had a re-birthday last week! We love to celebrate the day the girls asked Jesus into their hearts because it helps keep it fresh.

It is all too easy to get complacent about the amazing gift that Jesus gave us when he died up on that cross. He took all our sins and junk upon Himself so that we could be washed clean. It’s so easy to take that for granted. I pray that the wonder of the cross will always be apparent for these girls. I love to look back at the pure joy on Bug’s face the day she decided.

I also love to watch her grow in her faith. She has learned so much from her Sunday School and Awana teachers this past year! We are so thankful for our church family and the way they invest their time and energy into helping these precious children grow in the Lord.

Her re-birthday was a Sunday…perfect! We spent the morning at church and Sunday School and then it was the annual church business meeting so there was a potluck afterwards. Buggy wanted to go to town after we got home and since we didn’t have any other plans we went for it. We went to the favorite…Target, and not just any Target but the one that gives you cup holders for your basket which they think is pretty cool. :)

rebirthday

We made our usual rounds, and found a few cute clothes for the girls on the clearance rack.

Peanut discovered the winter rack when we weren’t looking. T thought she looked like a rapper. :)

rebirthday1

We tried out a new pizza place for dinner and then to end our night we had to get some Froyo even though it was freezing.

Happy Re-birthday Buggy! Keep living for Jesus and you’ll never go wrong!

Bedtime Songs With Daddy

Every night T and I make the rounds of saying goodnight to the girls, trading off rooms. Whenever he's in Peanut's room I always hear them singing together. One day I realized he had taught her motions to go with some of the songs. So so cute.

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Aunt Karen and Grandma Vonnie! We love you!

“I larious!”–Part 12

Happy Thanksgiving! Here are some funnies to help you enjoy your holiday…

July 14th

The girls were talking about the baby. S: So the baby is swimming in water in your tummy? K: Like a fish! Me: Yes, she’s in water. A (concerned): Does the baby need goggles?

July 17th

K was putting on lip gloss, and asked me, “Mommy does it look ok? I tried to keep it only on my lips.” A looks at her and then at me, “She look like a robot!”

July 21st

They had seen the trailer for Home and ever since Peanut would randomly pipe up with a mixed up version, “Raise your hands up in da air-just don’t like care!”

July 22nd

On our road trip to Texas. K was looking at the Tom Tom, “What does the tipped car mean?” Me: “That there's an accident.” A pipes up, “Uh oh! Do they gotta clean it up?” Me: “Not THAT kind of accident!”

August 30th

She came to the dinner table and said, “Yum! Yum! Thank you Mommy for making s-ghetti! It’s the best s-ghetti I ever ate!” Then she didn’t eat it.

September 2nd

We were all talking at the dinner table. Boo says, “Say what you need to say!” and on perfect cue A let out a man sized belch! :P

Septmeber 7th

We were talking about baby names. K: Holly! S: Polly! A: Pants ser! K: Abigail! S: Margaret! A: A tree fix!

Worship Team

T and Bug have guitar lessons at the same time that I have worship team so Boo and Peanut have to entertain themselves at the church without Bug for 60-90 minutes. They usually spend the majority of the practice running around the sanctuary and dragging out the Awana scooters and balls.

Recently, though, the worship leader invited them to sing the first song with us since there was an extra mike that night.

They LOVED it!

awt

He didn’t realize he’d opened a big can of worms though because they certainty weren’t going to let go of such power easily! They fought over the mike and wanted to sing every song with us…quite loudly I might add!

awt1

It was actually pretty cute…for the first 20 minutes…then they got tired of standing on the stage and started dancing around…jumping off the stage, and making the mike squeal with feedback. I informed them on the way home that it was a special occasion and we won’t be doing that again!

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord right?? ;)

OCC

It’s that time of year again! Operation Christmas Child! We just love this program! It’s such an easy way to make such a big impact on a life!

I also really love the way it kicks off the holiday season with thinking of others. The girls love to go shopping for “their” kids, and this year we had very few, “Can I have this?” questions. The first few years we did it they couldn’t seem to get away from what they wanted, but now they are pretty focused on finding items for “little girls who have nothing” as they say.

We came home from our big shopping trip and dumped everything out on the floor. They were so excited to get the things they had picked out and get them in the boxes.

occ

I was impressed with how well they did this year. Bug and Boo hardly needed any help at all!

occ1

Our church ordered a bunch of expandable shoes this year to go in the boxes…they are sandals with snaps so the shoe can be made to fit the size of the child who receives it.

occ2

Daddy showed them how to put items in the shoes so they could fit more into their box.

occ3

Peanut definitely needed quite a bit of help, but she really got into it and did a good job too.

occ4

occ5

We wrote Christmas cards, sealed up our boxes, and prayed for each one. This year we paid for the shipping online so we should be able to track our boxes and see which country they end up going to!

occ6

Now we’re ready to start the holiday season!

Workin’ Girls

The girls and I got to stay two nights at Noni and Papa’s last week while T was gone. He was in Vegas for a conference.

The girls loved some of the pictures he texted us, like this one of his bathroom that had a TV in the mirror!

IMG_9732

And this chicken pot pie he ordered that was huge!

IMG_9730

The girls had a ball playing and having fun, but they also did a lot of work! It’s funny but getting them to work around our house is like pulling teeth. At Noni’s however they love working and don’t hesitate to jump right in! She must make it a lot more fun than we do. :)

noni

I love that they can get a little taste of farm life by helping out. They love going to gather the chicken eggs and watching the sheep.

noni1

Peanut has been on a nap strike lately but one of the days we were there I could tell she was really tired. She said, “I’m not tired Mommy! I don’t need a nap!” I told her we were just going to lay down in my bed and rest for a little while and this is what she looked like 90 seconds later.

noni2

I fell asleep too and when I woke up I saw this. Cutie little hands.

noni3

I think her napping days are definitely numbered. Hopefully I can get a few more months out of her!

Practice Makes Perfect!

The girls are gearing up for their big Christmas dance recital in a few weeks! Parents are allowed to attend the first session of each month so I always make sure to go and video the month before the recital so they can have it to watch while they practice.

It looks like it is going to be another great recital! Boo’s ballet class was the first one I watched. She is doing such a great job!

ballet

I can really tell she’s growing as I watched her. Her moves have gotten much more precise and graceful over the past year.

ballet1

Peanut had to wear her dance outfit even though she didn’t have class that day.

ballet2

She and Buggy danced in the back during Boo’s class. :)

ballet3

Then it was Bug’s turn. She does an awesome job and I love watching her!

ballet4

I’ve been trying to have them practice all their dances every day…some days we manage it, some days we don’t, but they have most of their moves down. We just need to polish a few of them up a bit.

ballet5

Miss L was out of town so I attended their tap and jazz classes the following week.

Peanut’s little class is SO cute! They are all 3&4 and are just adorable!

dance1

Peanut is VERY intent on making sure she stays on her “spot” which is a piece of tape on the floor with her name on it. You can see her here checking to make sure she’s on it exactly. I noticed during the class that she was almost always on it, even when they were doing their “silly” dances. One time another girl got on her spot (when they were allowed to roam freely) and A went over and looked intently into her face. I couldn’t hear what she said, but hopefully she was nice as she told the girl that it was “her” spot. Haha :)

dance

This picture is totally blurry, but I loved their huge smiles as they danced around to a silly song with their ribbons!

dance2

Boo was the “line leader” in her class that day so she got to go first in everything. I could tell it made her feel very special!

dance3

T was out of town and thankfully Noni came to help me out because we had a crazy evening! It was a bible study night so I took Peanut to class at 4:15. Noni brought Boo and Bug up at 5, left Boo and picked up Peanut. At 5:45 she went and opened the church up for me since people were arriving for our 6 o’clock study. Then she, Bug and Peanut came back to the dance studio and I took Boo and Peanut to church. Noni stayed with Bug and videoed her dances for me. As soon as she got the videos she came back to the church (about 6:45) and picked up Boo and Peanut and took them back to her house. At 7 I went and picked up Bug and three other girls whose parents were at bible study and brought them all back to the church. We were done by 8 and Bug and I headed to Noni and Papa’s so we could all spend the night. Whew!

Frozen!

Last weekend Noni and I took the girls on our annual Disney On Ice outing. And this year it was extra exciting because it was FROZEN on ice! The girls were so excited!

frozenI couldn't believe how crowded it was! There were five times as many people there then we saw the circus! I’ve never seen so many little girls dressed up like Anna and Elsa! Buggy didn’t want to dress up but we had two Elsa’s who were more than happy to!

Peanut was a little wiggly, but for the most part she watched intently. She loved the “snow”. It “snowed” probably five or six times throughout the show.

frozen1

They did a great job and it was fun to see a whole story played out rather than snippets of several different ones.

frozen4

I was impressed with their portrayal of Marshmallow. He was a giant smoke breathing inflatable!

frozen3

A lot of the classic Disney characters were there at the beginning and the end so that was fun too!

frozen5

The girls wanted a picture down by the ice at the end. See this expression on Peanut’s face…she was apparently plotting how to sneak onto the ice because as soon as this was snapped she jumped over the little barrier. The guard scooped her up and set her on the appropriate side before I could even blink. Haha :P

frozen6

It really wasn’t that late but they must have been worn out from all the excitement because all three fell asleep on the way home!

frozen7

What a fun night!
