Leftover Thursday

The other day Peaches made a cross decoration. Very creative!

Unfortunately the paper she used was one of Lou's piano pieces. Haha.

Now that volleyball is over Bug has been taking her turns working concessions at the basketball games. The Junior class is in charge of concessions to earn money for banquet and other things. The little ones were excited to buy popcorn from her. :)

Peaches got a bracelet bead kit for her birthday and I was surprised at how much they got into it! Lou especially. She sat for hours every day that week patiently stringing beads. So good for her finger dexterity!

Peaches also got some Plus Plus blocks from a friend. We've never had any before but they are pretty fun!

Some friends had a Pinochle party at their new house and E and I won 1st and 2nd place. :) It was a fun  night!

Happy Thursday!

Basketball!

It has been so much fun to watch Boo playing basketball this year! She is the only 8th grader on the high school team and has done an amazing job! She has started in multiple games and you can't tell she's the youngest at all. Basketball is definitely her sport and it is so much fun to watch her tearing around the court. Her competitive nature and hard work ethic make basketball the perfect sport for her.

Here she is at the start of one of the home games.

Her ball handling skills have really improved this year and she has been put in a couple times as the point guard.

She also plays post and wing and has many opportunities to shoot free throws as a post.

The whole team has really improved over the season! About halfway through they started learning to play together as a team.

Boo usually scores at least a couple baskets per game, sometimes four or five.

This particular game was so close and they lost by only one point!

We are so proud of our Boo Bear!

Ice Skating!

We got to go ice skating over Christmas break!

It was Lou's first time and she did so well!

She used the skate helper for a lot of it but she also struck out on her own or with me.

The girls had fun skating with each other and their friends.

We got to go to the outdoor place this year which is so much more fun and festive than the indoor rink!

Lou wanted to skate by herself and she actually made it all the way around with the railing.

Peaches had fun with her friend E.

They took lots of breaks around the firepits.

Thankfully it wasn't terribly cold.

We had a lot of fun but unfortunately it ended abruptly when one of the moms in our group fell and dislocated her shoulder! I felt so bad for her! She was in terrible pain, but the park rangers were able to come put it back in place and one of the other moms is getting her EMT license so she was able to help her as well. Another mom (who's husband had come) drove her car home and I picked up her groceries and delivered them later. Thankfully she recovered well, but it was definitely not a fun experience!

The rest of us got lunch after they left and then the girls and I had to go see the new Lego store they put in at the mall!

We didn't buy anything, but we went back a week later with Daddy and everyone got something with their money.

They are excited to have a Lego store nearby!

Hopefully next year's ice skating outing won't be quite as eventful!

Volleyball to Basketball!

Boo has been sports sports sports this year! She has been having practices almost every day since the first day of school. High School volleyball rolled right into Middle School volleyball which overlapped with High School basketball so at one point she had to miss a couple basketball practices to go to volleyball games. These pictures are from the Middle School tournament.

I found this picture on my phone after one of the games. :)

 Middle School is co-ed.

Nice serve!

Good game! They played three games and then got knocked out of the tournament.

A few days later, over Christmas break, there was an Alumni/Parent game. T talked me into playing! I haven't played a basketball game in about 25 years! He had been going to all the Christmas break practices with Boo so he was definitely more prepared than I was. :P

The guys fought hard and tied their first half after they got into the groove.

He definitely hasn't lost anything since high school!

I can't remember his exact total but I want to say he scored 12 points.

Then it was the girls turn. It's a good thing I do three miles a day on the treadmill or I really would have been hurting! Lol. This definitely gave me an appreciation for how hard these kids work to play a game! T got these next three picture of Boo and I and was laughing at how similar we are.

Apparently we match up stride for stride.

The moms ended up winning the girls' game so we were pretty proud of ourselves. And tired. Haha. But it was fun to play basketball again!

New Years Eve!

We had a great turnout for our New Year's Eve party this year! I think there were 60+ people. The girls had a blast with their friends! The teenagers played a hard fought battle of Risk.

Peanut facilitated many rounds of Bingo. We had brought prizes from the Dollar Store.

They also played other games and ate lots of good food!

I had to get balloons for the date since this year was 12/31/23 or 123 123. I thought that was pretty cool but T was unimpressed with my numbers. Haha.

Some of our friends that usually come were not able to come this year so I sent them this picture to show them what they were missing out on...Ms C's homemade lumpia and pancit! Sooo good!

We had a Pinochle tournament for the adults going on the left side.

More Bingo.

T put the New York live stream up and we followed along with the countdown.

Happy New Year!
