Farmhouse Update!

These pictures go back several months. T spent MANY  winter weekends working on the shed/playhouse. He would bundle up and work in the snow and cold just plugging away at this thing.

Whenever it was warm enough the girls and I would go out and help him. Our "yard" looked like this for months. Wood scraps everywhere. The girls like to play with them and build things.

It looks like this is the day we were putting up the railing.

Here is the shed after he got the soffit and facia on.

In April we decided to put a pause on the building and focus on getting the lawn and garden going. Here is what our garden has been the last few years...a tarped off square.

T rototilled the whole yard several times to break up the ground.

Then he spent a whole day bringing dirt over to try and level the yard a little. We never realized just how sloped and dipped it was until we started trying to work with it. It is still on a big slant, but he leveled it an impressive amount!

Ariel view from the window.

Our yard was a dirt/mud pit for weeks! These two loved it and have never been dirtier or had more consecutive baths. :P

The dirt was super soft after all the rototilling so they loved playing in it.

And when they got the hose out they instantly turned into mud monsters!

I didn't even attempt to keep the floors clean for those weeks because it was instantly dirty again and there was a layer of dust all over everything inside and out all the time. :P

We spent some time designing the yard and garden and then he borrowed grandpa's Ditch Witch to run the trenches for the sprinklers.

All the girls helped us pick rock for days on end and then get the sprinklers laid down and plumbed.

We ended up with 11 zones!

We put in the rock border over the span of a few days to mark off the lawn.

More tomorrow!

Camping!

Bug got to go camping with her boyfriend and his family! They got to go to a really cool old fire lookout. They had to hike in about 3 miles with all their stuff and then they got to stay here.

She said they had such a pretty view!

Ms K and Bug adore each other! She had a lot of fun hanging out with them for three days.

They got to have campfires and roast marshmallows and hot dogs. They also had MREs. I've never been camping where you had to pack in all your food, bedding, and clothes on your back, but she said it wasn't too bad. Thankfully Papa had a nice hiking backpack, sleeping mat, and other camping items that he let her borrow.

She had a great time and is hoping to go again sometime!

Leftover Thursday

One day Peaches and Lou were VERY busy going up and down the stairs with all sorts of things and said they were making a "surprise". The theme was "red, white, and black" and they picked out my clothes and jewelry and wore outfits that matched. When Daddy got home they showed us that they made a tea party. :)

Bug joined us and we had cupcakes and water. So sweet.

Lou is slightly obsessed with suckers. This day she managed to get two in her mouth before we noticed. :P

We got to meet up with some friends at the pool one day!

They had a blast and swam for about two hours while I talked with some of the other moms.

We are loving these warm summer days!

Happy Thursday!

Resort! - Part 3

We tried something new this year and went kayaking! They allow guests to check out paddleboards or kayaks for an hour at a time. Lou rode with me, Peaches with Daddy, and Peanut had her own kayak.

It was so beautiful!

We went all the way down to the dam and back.

We saw lots of ducks and even some big fish!

I hope we can do that again! I love kayaking!

We went to dinner on our own...T and I found a Japanese place and then we did a taco truck for the girls and ate at their picnic tables. Then there was an ice cream social as part of the conference. We stopped and took some pictures with all of the beautiful flowers!

And that night right before bed Peaches lost a tooth! She was so excited!

The next morning was only 70 again but they wanted to head right for the beach.

We got them these cute floaties at Target.

They wanted to check out the hot tub which was a little further down the path.

They enjoyed the hot tub until I read the sign and saw it said no one under 6 should be in it so we didn't stay for too long.

After Daddy's meetings that day he came swimming with them and they had so much fun! Lou had no reservations about wanting to be tossed as far and high as Daddy could throw her!

And in exciting news....both Peaches and Lou both started swimming! Peaches and I worked on her breast stroke and within half an hour she had it down and was swimming the whole length of the pool! And by the time we left Lou was jumping in and swimming back to the edge without her life jacket! Wow! Way to go girls!!!

We had a wonderful three and half days enjoying the pool and the beach!

Resort! - Part 2

On our first morning Daddy headed off for meetings while we had breakfast. We had a regular hotel room but it was two rooms and had a little kitchenette.

It was only 72 so we headed to the park instead of the pool and got our annual growth pictures.

Then they played for a while.

Peaches is getting really good at monkey bars!

They finally declared it "too hot" so we headed back for the pool, but not before Lou and Peaches wanted to ride the "bike". Haha.

And we literally spent the rest of the day in the pool or lake.

I managed to get them inside for 30 minutes for lunch and a 30 minute break at about 2:30 to watch a cartoon and then they wanted to go right back out. They had a blast!

Peanut preferred to swim in the lake so we did some beach time. The pool and beach were only a few feet away from each other and our room. So nice!

Happy girls!

I got to relax and read my book and recover from our busy VBS week while they swam and played.

It was a wonderful day!
