Happy Friday! :)

School!

 Bug's first three days of school were her school's "retreat" which is basically like summer camp: lots of fun, speakers, chapel, games, and hanging out. She had a blast with her friends!

 

 

Peaches is going through an extremely emotional phase right now. She is learning to regulate her emotions...I hope. The first day of school was full of a great deal of excitement - riding to the high peaks and then crashing down into a puddle of tears. It was quite the roller coaster. She had five or six meltdowns throughout the day. In between them she was so excited she was about to burst. I sure hope we can temper those high emotions and make them a little more balanced!

 

 

This is Boo's "I don't want a picture mom, hurry up and let me get back to work" face. :P

 

 

Peanut had a great first day and got the teacher she wanted! Mrs. S was Bug and Boo's fifth grade teacher and one of the best teachers we've ever found!

She had to take a picture of her school workspace to show her teacher. 

 

 

We got our traditional back to school ice cream once Bug got home from her retreat.

 

 

We decided to let Boo do choir/drama this year at Bug's school! It is only twice a week. Here she is on her first day. She got some new clothes since we had to get her some things to fit dress code.

 

 

The class is almost an hour so the little ones get to play on the school's new playground while we wait.

 

 

This thing is actually really high! I was kind of surprised that they put it in, but the girls seemed to navigate it well.

 

 

And they loved it! They were pretending to be spiders. :)

The middle part they called their spider nest.

The school kept the old slide and just moved it to a different area.

 

 

It's a pretty fast one!

 

 

I have found that while Peaches doesn't particularly like doing her work, we have found a routine and she does well for the most part. Just like Bug and Peanut she doesn't like sitting still though and gets into some interesting positions while she's supposed to be paying attention. :P 

 

 

They changed the curriculum and even the elementary is almost entirely online now. I'm not so sure I like that although I can understand why they did it. I'm sure it makes it a lot easier for parents who work from home or have lots of other littles to take care of. Each year the online school seems to make more changes I don't care for. It's come a long way from when we first started 10 years ago. I wish we could go back to that original format. I think it worked a lot better, but I'm trying to get on board with "progress". We'll see how the rest of the year goes.

Back to School!

 I know I say this every year but I can't believe how grown up these girls are getting!

 

 

Bug chose electrician this year. She is trying to figure out what she could do to go to a trade school rather than a traditional college.

 

Boo said she didn't know what she wanted to be so I told her she should put down choreographer. She is always dancing and can make up dances to songs on the spot. I think she would be great at it!

 

 

Peanut is really interested in rocks and nature so she chose gemologist this year. 

 

 

 

Donut baker remains strong for this cutie. :)

 

 

And Lou would only say that she wanted to be a baby. Haha.

We are so proud of our beautiful girls!

County Fair!

 Bug, Boo, and I worked at the AWANA booth for five hours this year before Daddy brought the rest up to enjoy the fair. The little ones enjoyed the playground first.

And then we went to check out all the animals.

 

 

They loved the ones who would come over to be petted. 

 

 

A girl showed us her cow and it was very friendly. 

 

 

 But I think the horses were the favorite!

 

 

Especially for Peanut who has been asking for horseback riding lessons for nearly two years now!

 

 

We did the inflateables before dinner.

 

 

Whee!

 

 

This slide was a lot steeper than it looked! The kids came flying down it. One boy who looked to be about 5 made it to the top, shook his head, and climbed back down. Of course Lou had no hesitation. She climbed the wobbly stairs and went for it!

 

 

And loved every second! 

 

 

I think she is going to be our adrenaline junkie!

 

 

They liked the bounce house too, but were soon racing back towards the slide.

 

 

We had dinner with the whole family and then let them pick dessert.

 

 

I took the littles home for bed and Daddy and the three older girls stayed for the rodeo. One of their friends sent me these two pictures. :)

 

The little brother looks less than amused. Haha.

 

 

Another great year at the county fair!
