Farmhouse Update

We seem to have bursts of progress. It will feel like we're slogging through, barely getting anything done, and then BAM, one weekend we'll get a huge section done! In just one day we were able to do the whole back end of the house (not the newest addition). We started in the morning with no siding back there, and then as the day progressed...

Hooray!

Lou LOVES to help us and will pick something up with a grunt and try to move it wherever she thinks it belongs.

Daddy helped her out. :)

Funny girl.

She was sitting so cutely with Jax this day, and then he licked her in the face. Haha.

We're trying to caulk as we go since we've already got the scaffolding and ladders set up. Sometimes that means "hanging out" at the tops. :)

And sometimes we use the tractor for a leg up.

We have to watch this monkey though. She wants to do everything she sees us doing. :P

We had been considering renting some kind of lift to help us reach the peak of the house because we couldn't get there with the scaffolding because of the bump out in the dining room. However Grandpa and Daddy came up with a clever arrangement of wood to make it work though, sticking huge 2x10x16 foot boards out the two upstairs windows and laying other boards across them to make a platform.

It doesn't look as high up as it feels, haha.

Grandpa has some scaffolding, but our neighbors loaned us a bunch more...so nice!!

And this doesn't look that bad unless you know that someone has to be standing on the other end of the board for counterbalance. :P

The girls make me nervous but they love climbing on anything and everything.

Lou thought it was funny to look out the two story windows and be eye level with everyone.

We spent an entire, very long day just painting.

But we are SOOOO happy with how it turned out! I love the color and the white paint cleaned up the existing facia and corbels beautifully!

Two sides down! The end is in sight!

Goodbye Summer

I feel like all I've posted about this summer is the lake. Because that's pretty much all we did this summer. :P But I'm so glad we did! Even though we went once or twice a week the girls never got tired of it! Lake days were some of our best days all summer and gave us something to look forward to. It also gave us a chance to see friends which was the best part!

I've really got to see if I can find one of these kid kayaks before next summer. They loved those things so much!

I wish I had been videoing right here...they are all staring at one of the boys who was holding a huge crawdad they found. All of the ones we found this summer were tiny, like an inch long. This guy was bigger than my hand! The girls were all squealing for him to put it back in the bucket. He wanted to put it in the pool they were making. Haha.

Lou really liked to ride on the kayaks too, and even though they all loved it I think Peanut loved it best. She spent so much time paddling around the bay.

Jump!

Normally they lower and raise the water slowly but from one week to the next they took it all the way down. When we arrived for our last lake day the water was at winter levels.

It felt really weird after being there all summer with it up high.

But the kids thought it was cool because they could walk all the way to the logs and the water was still only waist high.

I can't get enough of this cutie! She loved the lake so much and would play and run and dig and splash happily the whole time we were there. The only time she fussed was when I had to get the sand off her at the end, but whenever it was time to go I would say, "Time to go bye bye!" and she would immediately start waving her hand saying, "Bye! Bye!" Sweet girl.

We're definitely going to miss lake days, but we are already planning on doing them again next year!

You just can't beat them. Big kids get to swim and hang out with their friends, little ones get to run and dig, and the moms get to stand around and chat. They're pretty much perfect!

Here's a quick picture we un-socially distanced for a few seconds to grab. :P Boo had already taken Lou to the car, but pretty much everyone else got in I think.

Such a great group! We can't wait for next summer!!

Videos

Lou pats her chest for "please". :)

Peaches has the HARDEST time sitting up straight at the table for dinner. I'd say it's our biggest mealtime battle. She is rarely sitting normally.

I can't remember if I posted this one or not. I realized that I need to stop using the phrase, "You're driving me nuts!" :P

Happy Saturday! :)

Leftover Thursday

When the 4 year old decides to pour her own milk. :P

Peaches' drawing of us wearing masks.

Buggy likes to make tiny things. She made this tiny lunch out of her own lunch on the way back from the lake one day.

The girls have been having fun making things out of Peanut's kinects set she got for her birthday. This fan actually spun!

And this was a catapult basketball hoop. And the hoop could move back and forth for an even bigger challenge!

Cutie patootie.

She found a pack of gum so I put it up on her dresser. While I was getting ready she found her diaper box, tipped it over, scooted it over to the dresser, climbed up and got her prize. :P

Happy Thursday! :)
