We’ve been pretty fortunate in the accident department with Peanut. I think a lot of it had to do with her walking so late. By the time she did start walking she had a lot more balance and control than the other two did. She had an extra three months to figure out how her body moves. She’s also the typical 3rd child and is much tougher than the other two. You kind of have to be with two other siblings running around all the time accidentally knocking you over. Usually she just says, “Whoa!” and gets back up and runs off.
The other day, though, she decided to try to climb up the back of a dining room chair and pulled it over on herself. Thankfully I happened to be walking by and mostly caught it before it smashed her too bad, but she turned her head and somehow her little ear took the brunt of it. It swelled up pretty quickly and after a little ice pack time it went down and turned purple.
I felt bad but it didn’t seem to bother her once she got over the initial trauma. I think the chair falling on her scared her more than hurt. I had to take another picture after her bath when it looked even more purple.
She just thought I was being silly taking pictures of the back of her head and kept trying to see the camera. :)

School is still going really well for us! K is finally starting to figure out pacing/self-motivation techniques. She now understands that if she does one or two extra subjects each day that she gets Friday off which is very nice for all of us!
She is my busy busy girl and sometimes it is really hard for her to sit still. Luckily since we are at home I can allow her a little more freedom than a “regular” school.
As long as she is paying attention and interacting I allow her to stand next to me so she can get her wiggles out.
I had to take some pictures the other day though when she started doing this…

Every week we “go” to art class and she has been learning some really neat stuff! The teacher does an artist’s share where we email her pictures of the previous week’s lesson and then she shares it with the class in a big PowerPoint. Here are some of the things K has done.
A dog she learned to draw. The teacher gives them a step by step, and then K added all the extra stuff.
A dragon they drew while learning about Chinese New Year.
They learned to draw the horse. K added the rest.
Here is a thing I made for her to color. She is ALWAYS trying to draw or write during lessons, so I’ve found that if I give her something like this she can color and listen at the same time. Otherwise she ends up too into drawing and stops listening.

This is two small bottles of glitter that she and S dumped on a piece of paper and labeled art. They were so proud. :)
The girls loooove to do art and draw me multiple pictures every day. I get piles and piles.
I try to take pictures of everything before throwing most away. I plan to make a Shutterfly book for each of them one day. I just can’t keep everything they do or we wouldn’t have room to sit down! I’m glad they are creative!
Well we had a pretty mellow weekend around here. I spent Friday night at an Awana meeting, and Saturday we had a 4/5ths family (A was sleeping) clean up in the dreaded basement. The hope is that we can get it cleaned out and fixed up a little…at least enough to be a Lego playroom. :)
I spent three hours sorting and cleaning and throwing away and I think I only need about 20 more to finish. :P T got some shelves built in the “stairs that lead to nowhere”. This house was built in 1922 and added onto three times so we have a pitch black stairwell in the basement that once-upon-a-time led to the outside, but now leads into the ceiling/floor of the laundry room. But now it has newly installed shelves for my shoe boxes!
The shoe boxes are actually computer paper boxes that I fill with shoes. I’m a regular shoe store. I literally have 12 boxes of the girls shoes, organized by size. And now they all have a nice little home. :)
Anyway…the two littles had their 4 year and 18 month (respectively) checkups last Wednesday. I told Boo she didn’t have to have shots, but then when we got there they said she did. Peanut had a cold and was running a slight fever so thankfully they allowed us to put off both of their shots. They aren’t behind or anything, and will still be within the proper range the next time we go.
Boo was 39.4 pounds (50%) and 41 3/4 inches (85%) tall. The Doctor said she looks great! She seems totally done with her difficult phase and is back to our sweet little angel.
Peanut was a goofball in the doctor’s office and was running around getting into everything while I chased her around with my Organic foam hand sanitizer. :P
She was 21.7 pounds (50%) and 31.25 inches (50%) and also looks great. T is really to put her in a forward facing car seat now that she is over 20 pounds, but she still fits pretty well so I’m hoping to put it off for a few more months.
She is our funny funny girl these days! She cracks me up all day long. I hear multiple new words every day. One of my favorites is “owie”. Not that I enjoy when she gets hurt but now if it is a minor injury she doesn’t cry now she just says, “oww-iiee, oww-iieee”and scrunches her little face up. It’s adorable.
Here is one example of how she cracks me up. A little naked yoga anyone? She often does this downward dog pose, although rarely naked. :)
18 months is one of my favorite ages. She has SO MUCH personality and I love how she approaches life: always a big, sweet smile with a little bit of mischief thrown in for good measure. :)
We’re lovin’ life with our funny girls!
Since we all had a three day weekend last week we decided to head down to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. The girls LOVE to go to Grandma and Grandpa’s, and it’s really nice for us too. At home, even if we try to have a “relaxing day” I can never truly relax because there are a million things on my “list” at any given time. At the farm it’s much easier to just sit and visit without feeling like I need to be up and accomplishing things.
Peanut is starting to love Grandpa and Grandma’s house as much as Bug and Boo, especially now that she is getting old enough to have some freedom there! She was climbing up on the chairs and Grandma asked if that was ok. I said, “Sure, as long as she doesn’t climb up on the table.” Sure enough a few minutes later we looked over to find her smack in the middle of it. :P
She kept Grandma and Grandpa entertained with her antics. :)
Silly girl!
At one point she started “hiding” from us under the table. She thought that no one could see her through the tablecloth. It was hilarious!
Grandma has this mosaic tile thing that the girls just love. Peanut found it and thought the sound of the tiles clinking together was GREAT. She was so pleased with herself. Check out the smug expression on her face. :)
K got out Monopoly and she and I played a long round the first day. The next day Grandpa sat down and played with Bug and Boo, but Boo had distributed the money in her own special way so I think she started off with about $2000 more than everyone else. Haha :)
Auntie Nae, Uncle Wade, and Waylon stopped by on Sunday and we were able to give Waylon his birthday present. We really wanted to stay for his party but it would have put us home at about 10:00 on Monday night and our girls are so stuck on their schedule that it wouldn’t have worked out well for us the next day!
We were glad we got to see him and wish him a happy birthday though!
T has been working in his shop in preparation for the birthday.
He made another wooden machine to go with last year’s collection.
I didn’t get a good picture of it before he wrapped it, but it turned out really well. The birthday boy was pleased. :)
I don’t know if I mentioned the girls have been asked to be flower girls in both Uncle Sean (June) and Auntie Katherine’s (October) upcoming weddings. They are beyond excited!

SO excited! We had big plans to take them shopping for their flower girl dresses on Monday so after Grandpa’s yummy breakfast of French toast, eggs, and hashbrowns we packed up and headed to Noni’s to drop off A for her nap. When we got there the girls were so happy to see Noni that they didn’t want to leave and begged us to let them stay so T and I got an impromptu date day.
We had a great time running around looking for dresses. We went to literally 9 places and couldn’t find anything that would work so finally I decided that I am going to make them tutu dresses. After looking on a few websites I don’t think it will be hard at all.
We ate dinner at our favorite Chinese food place and then picked up the girls and made it home just in time for bed. What a great weekend!
