"Laugh with me!" - Part 5

June 18th - K must have learned the word "fair" at VBS because after that week she was saying it ALL the time. But she wasn't using it correctly. She would say things like, "I want to watch a movie. Is that fair?" Or, "I'm going to play legos now. Is that fair?" Or "We're eating apples. Is that fair?" I'm not sure I want to teach her the real meaning. I've never been a fan of the phrase, "That's not fair!" I think, for now, I will leave her in her innocent bliss.
~
June 25th - Boo sneezed during dinner. I wasn't really watching and K said in a chagrined voice, "Mommy! She blessed in my face!" slight pause, "But not right now. On Thursday she blessed in my face."
~
July 2nd - K came running in from outside holding her Koala. "We're scared of Daddy!" she proclaimed thrusting her Koala baby toward me. I, on the computer, absentmindedly respond, "Huh?" She repeats, "I'm scared of Daddy! He gonna beat me!" I swing around giving her my full attention, "What??" She repeats again, "I'm scared Daddy gonna beat me." Me: "What do you mean?" K, "Beat me!" Me: "What do you mean 'beat you'? K: "You know! Beat me in the race!" Me: "Ohhh, okay."
~
July 3rd - We were on the way out to Grandma and Grandpa's for the 4th. K had to go potty really bad and there were no stores around. We finally came to a gas station but all they had was one of those "Honey Bucket" port-a-potties. T took her and when he lifted the lid she said, "Yuck Daddy! Somebody went blue potty!"
~
July 7th - Praying at the dinner table. We said, "Amen." K yells, "Please be seated!" Guess she's been paying attention at church more than I thought. :)
~
July 8th - We were talking about middle names. For the sake of the story I'll pretend her's is...uh...Abagail. I was explaining to her about how her middle name is the same as Noni's and Boo's is the same as mine. She looks at T and says, "And your name is Daddy Abagail!"
~
July 13th - Listening to her scripture cds, they were talking about their Grandpa being sick and dying and going to heaven. K said, "But MY Grandpa isn't going up in the sky. He just gonna stay home. And Grandma stays with him."
~
July 19th - We were all outside and she starts singing one of her scripture songs that is set to hip-hop music and at one part they start yelling, "Love! Do good! Bless! And pray!" she got louder and louder and was screaming it over and over. I looked at T and said, "The neighbors are going to think we are seriously indoctrinating our child." K looks over at us and says, "What did the doctor do?"
~
July 31st - I bought her a Little Einsteins video at my friend's garage sale. She watched it and later said to me, "Fortissimo is when there is a rhino in your way and you have to be quiet." I don't know if that was the message they were going for. :)
~
Okay, that's all for now. She's been saying some hilarious stuff lately so I'll have to do another one soon.

Flipper

Boo has finally figured out how to turn from her back to her stomach! I'm not sure why it took her so long to learn that particular skill, but she just figured it out last week. The only problem is that once she gets on her stomach she can't get back. Although that makes no sense because she has been flipping from stomach to back for months now. Odd. So every time she flips over to her tummy she lays in bed and cries until we take pity and go flip her back over. As you can tell she doesn't really like being on her stomach.
"Uh, Mom, can you stop taking pictures and help me out here?"

I hope she gets it figured out soon b/c this waking up again in the middle of the night is not something I'm a fan of. :P

Fair Fun

We had another busy weekend! I think things will start slowing down in a few weeks since summer is winding down, but for now we are still going strong!
~
On Saturday morning we had some friends who are visiting from Colorado come over and we all went to the fair together.
Bug's favorite thing was the animals of course. She loves all the animals. I just noticed Bug's hands in her pockets...I do that a lot so I think it's cute when I see my habits in her. :)

They had all different kinds of competitions where people were showing their animals.

K's cousins got to come to the fair too! The train table was a big hit...or maybe it was the suckers. :)

I love how these small town fairs have some of the animals out in the open, no cages or anything. Love how the cousins are posing and K has a "just smile and humor Mommy while she takes picture number 1,271" look on her face. :)

The kiddos wanted to pet the calves.

And Uncle Bo-Bo helped our little Boo get in on the animal petting.

This baby goat was so cute!

And these goats were hilarious! They shoved their heads up really far in the hay bale and every now and then would come out to sneeze. :)

Fascinated.

Baby piglets. They had all kinds of signs up. I had no idea but it said that pigs are listed as the 4th smartest animal in the world...that they can learn tricks faster than dogs and they start responding to their name within 3 weeks of naming them. One sign also said that the biggest pig ever recorded was over 2,500 pounds and 12 feet long or something. Crazy!

K feeding one of the horses.

They had a kid's area and we spent some time enjoying the attractions in there. We all thought this mirror was hilarious! Boo didn't see what all the fuss was about. Why the long face? :)

They had "pud-pud golf" as K called it.

K's turn in front of the mirror. Those legs should be able to do some good high-kicks!

K showing her cousin some bowling moves.

Getting some tattoos from an actual tattoo artist...just kidding, but he does fit the stereotype. :)

Although he very nicely painted a pink and purple sparkly butterfly on a toddlers arm so he can't be too hardcore. :)

Proudly showing off her new ink.

We ate lunch while watching the magic show. They didn't have a microphone for the guy though so it was hard to hear.

We headed home after lunch to give the girls naps and then went back to the fair with Noni and Papa that night to watch some of the rodeo and get an Elephant Ear...yes I would travel many a mile for one of those delicious sugary treats. Yum! :) Boo didn't quite make it so we gave up on the rodeo and headed home for bed.

It was a great day of Fair fun!

7 Months Old

Our little Boo bear turned 7 months yesterday! Wow this cutie patootie is growing up quick. We just went to the fair today and while we were there I was thinking that this time last year (at the fair) I was pregnant and we didn't even know she was a girl! It's amazing that even at 7 months I can't remember life without her. Once your children are born you feel like they've always been with you. Always been a part of you...and maybe they really have.
~
Two of my favorite faces in the whole world.
I realized the other day that we haven't had a picture with S alone in a while so we grabbed some. Love that sweet smile.

Boo is getting REALLY close to crawling! Hard for me to believe b/c K didn't start crawling until 10 months and that only lasted about 6 weeks before she was walking. I wasn't prepared for a mobile baby this soon, but I'd better get used to the idea b/c we are just about there! She can go backwards and side to side really well, and is starting to figure out how to get up on her hands and knees, but so far she only lurches forward a bit and then crashes back onto her stomach. But I wouldn't be surprised if she takes off one of these days! Time to babyproof the house again!

Strike Three

Sweet potatoes - strike one
Squash - strike two
Carrots - strike three!
You're outta there!
So far the only thing we are able to get Boo to eat is oatmeal. She is definitely not a fan of the vegetables! (or rice cereal!)

She gave it a valiant effort.

But she just couldn't do it.

Clamp the mouth shut and turn the face away.

That seems to be her preferred method of rejection.

Harvest

We have some good friends who are farmers and they let us come out the other day and give K a real farm experience. Our first order of business was riding out to the field in a grain truck. I believe "Whoa, it's bumpy!" was her first statement. :)
It was so fun to be part of a harvest...if only for an evening. It definitely took me back to our high school days when I would spend many days in the summer just riding around with T in his combine. The only days we ever got to go do something was if it was raining which didn't happen too often.

K was pretty excited to ride in the combine. They probably seem enormous to her little eyes!

There they go!

She got a lesson on how to harvest wheat. She took this picture from inside the cab.

And she took this one too of the grain coming out of the auger (sp?).

Daddy even got her carseat and put it into one of the grain trucks and we got to ride to town to the elevators and watch the unloading of the grain. It was a great experience for her to have. Farming was such an integral part of T's growing up years that we want to make sure she has some of those same experiences. This was a great start!

Fence!

We have a fence! Actually we've had a fence for a week now, but I guess I was just reveling in that knowledge...or maybe I hadn't uploaded the pictures to the computer yet. One or the other. :)
~
Once we got all the posts poured and set the hard part was done. Every night after dinner T and I would go out and get a few of the slats in. I had a little help.

Since it needs to be evenly spaced we had to cut every single set! That was kind of a pain, but it looks a lot nicer to have spaced panels than to have one small panel at the end. It took a while to figure out how to get them together so we were only getting about one panel done each night.

Then last weekend Grandma and Grandpa came out and they finished the entire fence in about three hours! I couldn't believe how fast it went up! I absolutely love it!

Now T just has to make the gates and we'll be all set. We laid down the grass seed last Monday night and it is already starting to sprout! There is a definite green hue when we look outside. We're almost there!

Lake Fun

This past weekend we got invited to a friends' lake cabin! We love the lake so we were very excited! Their two kids are almost the exact same ages as ours so it was a perfect fit!
~
It turned out to be a little on the cool side, but everybody but me was brave enough to swim...or at least float. :)
Libby (the dog) was the only one that fully got in the water. The kids had a great time playing on the beach. Kids never seem to mind too cool or too hot temperatures.

Boo got to experience her first boat ride! She was not too sure about the life jacket. :)

As soon as we got there K ran out on the beach. She pointed across the lake and said, "Daddy? Can you go get me one of those boats?" She talked about the boats all weekend and kept asking if we could get one. So when we did go out she was happy as a clam.

For some reason boat rides have a very calming effect on both our girls. S sat completely still on my lap without moving a muscle. I remember K doing the same thing as a baby.

She was so still I kept checking to make sure she was still breathing! I thought the life jacket might be too tight around her but when I unzipped it a bit it just squished up her cheeks. So funny. :)

K loved the ride! She started out in the back but was soon up front letting the wind blow through her hair.

Boo fell asleep. Guess that means she enjoyed it too. :)

And little A was not to be outdone...she fell asleep on her first boat ride too! So sweet. :)
And what's a trip to the lake without roasting hotdogs around the campfire?

Enjoying the fruits of her labors. :)

She was even more excited to roast marshmallows! What kid wouldn't be?

I love this picture! S was laying her sleepy little head down and Daddy started tickling her. So cute.

The whole gang. Thanks for a fun weekend guys!

P.S. School started today in our little town and it was in the lower 40's when we woke up...I'm afraid that our brief summer of warm weather might be over already! :( Hopefully the warm weather makes an encore appearance!
