Jog-A-Thon!

Our Indian Summer weather had been SO nice...60's and 70's, and then the day of the jog-a-thon it dropped to the 50's. :P Thankfully it wasn't windy so it wasn't too bad. Lou and I walked the whole time and made four laps.

Peaches ran some and made 6 laps, a personal best! I also noticed that sometime between arriving and going outside (ten minutes) she lost her coat. Not surprisingly she came down with a cold a few days later.

Peanut also had a personal best and did 10 laps this year!

Bug helped keep an eye on the Cubbies and got 6.

I didn't get a picture of Boo because she wasn't feeling all that great, but she did 10 laps as well. The girls all got a few sponsors, but none of them won this year. We had a lot of good participation though so we are now set for scholarships for kids who need them!

Noni's!

A couple weeks ago the youngest three got to spend the night at Noni's just for fun. Lou was super excited and before I had even packed her came down with this backpack and some shoes on and said she was ready to go. Haha.

The girls helped Noni rake pine needles...

And harvest her potatoes...check out the size of the one Peanut found!

And onions.

And they got to go to a playground and enjoy one of the last warm days before the cold weather set in.

We are SOOO very happy and THANKFUL that Noni is feeling good and has the energy for things like this again!

Thanks for the fun day Noni!!!

Volleyball!

We were so excited to hear that they had enough girls at Bug's school to have a Volleyball team! Some  years they don't, but enrollment has increased this year...mostly due to state mandates. I heard that they have nearly doubled in size since last year!

Bug's class has 15 kids in it, and a lot of them are girls so hopefully they'll be able to keep those numbers and have good sports teams while she is in high school!

She is loving being on the team and had no trouble making lots of friends quickly!

Their first game was an hour away so she rode the van with the team after school and we met them there. We bought a "family phone" for the girls to take with them to events like this so we can get ahold of them when we need to. She sent me this picture when we were on the way. :)

The game was actually closer to Grandma and Grandpa's house than ours so they were able to come! The girls were so excited!

I'm thankful she did the rec program this spring and was able to get a little experience playing! She does really well and has had lots of good saves and serves.

Unfortunately she hyper-extended her elbow so she's been hurting from that, but we got her a brace and she's toughing it out.

I didn't know how the little ones would do during the games, but they've managed pretty well. Sometimes they get a little squirmy. :)

And silly!

Lou kept calling out to Bug. Haha.

She stepped into the gym at lunch one day at school where they were playing dodgeball and got her glasses knocked off and broken. Daddy had glued them, but they fell off and broke again during the game so he quickly taped them together. :P

I have never been into volleyball before but I am really enjoying watching her play and learning more about the game!

Go Buggy! Your fan club loves you!

Shower!

We finally finished the last major indoor project! This has been the worlds longest project because we had so many other projects going on this summer that we only had time to work on it a few days a month. I think we started it in June.

It is also the most involved shower we've ever done. T made sure it was done to perfection. He used some clever sloping mechanism, poured concrete, used another layer and poured more concrete, put a rubber bladder in the bottom, painted a waterproof seal over the bladder...

...then did the walls, and painted several coats of the waterproofing over it all.

Then we were able to start tiling. We chose a black hexagon for the floor and a white "arabesque" for the walls. He put in two shelves.

He worked so hard to set those tiles just right! I helped a little, but he did the majority of the work. After we got the main parts tiled he installed some metal edging for us to stop at. Then it was mortar, mortar, mortar, wait 24 hours, and then seal, seal, seal...there are a LOOOOT of cracks between all those little tiles! Whew. That was a huge job!

And after five months of on-and-off work we finally finished the tile job!

It turned out beautifully!

I'm so excited that we are almost done!! Just some trim and moldings left to go!

Ford Truck

Whenever Daddy has a couple hours to spare (which is rare) he works on his old Ford truck. One Saturday he was able to get it running enough to take a quick spin around the property! The girls were so excited!

They chugged out of the garage and headed for the grange.

I don't think they went above 5 mph but it was a thrill for them to be in the running truck.

I hopped in and we took another spin as a family. He had been working on the brakes and this was the test, but they still didn't work for some reason. He'll just have to keep tinkering. :)

Leftover Thursday

On this edition of why-is-my-toddler-crying...because Mommy is making my sister another peanut butter and jelly sandwich but refuses to make me one!! (Even though I've only eaten 25% of the one I have on my plate.) :P

One day Peanut looked over at Peaches and exclaimed, "Mommy! She has an A in her hair!"

"Have hat Mommy!"

We went over to some friends' house for a couple hours one afternoon and Peanut held their bearded dragon the entire time!

Miss E let her give him a bath. :)

Peanut is such a great artist! She saw the chalk laying in the garage and sat down and drew this in a few minutes!

Happy Thursday! :)
