Boo Bear was on a "friend party" this year and she chose ice skating! They only do weekend parties so we chose last Sunday. I much prefer to do parties on the actual birthday, but it worked out fine. We grabbed Subway after church and headed into town.
We had to cross the river because it's the easiest place to park and they thought it looked pretty cool. :)
They had some cool decorations left over from a festival this fall. Peanut loved the Te's of course!
We got there earlier than everyone else so T, K, and S went ahead and got their skates on and tested out the ice.
Since I couldn't skate we decided to wait on Peanut. This is the age where you spend the entire time bent over holding them up while trying to keep from falling on top of them as they trip you up every few feet. :P Maybe she can join next year. She was very sweet about not getting to skate. She asked to go out there a couple of times, but never fussed when I said no.
I let her do the horsey ride while they were skating.
The party part started at 2. We went to the upstairs party room and the kids were so excited and running around. Boo was so excited she tried to jump up on that wall/railing you can see behind them to see downstairs...
She apparently decided she wanted a lip ring for her birthday because she slammed down so hard on the railing that her tooth actually went THROUGH her lip! OUCH! She cried, but not as hard as I anticipated once I realized what she'd done. It didn't actually look that bad...
The hard bleeding stopped after 10-15 minutes (she knocked the top and bottom teeth too), but the little hole kept oozing blood for hours. Poor thing.
We tried to get the fun back on track by singing happy birthday and cutting the cake.
Make a wish!
Happy once again!
The party guests!
(minus three who hadn't arrived yet)
Ice cream cake! Yum!
They had a cute little set up and the girls were thrilled because we got to take the balloons home.
Time for presents!
Bug got her a picnic set for their new dolls that she'd really been wanting.
And she was SOO excited to receive a Target gift card!!! Her favorite place! Thanks V family!
She also got velvet coloring posters, markers, books, nail polish, candy and a little purse.
Then it was time to head down to the skating rink! Boo and T are in the middle.
This is the first year she's been able to skate by herself without holding onto a person or the wall. She scooted around the rink, getting right up each time she fell down.
Go girls go!
Two of the boys had never been skating before and spent a lot of time on the ice, but I could see some improvement just in the short time they were there!
I let Peanut play on my phone to keep her entertained once she got tired of watching the skaters.
Poor Boo fell and scraped/bruised her cheek. Not her day for safety!
But she got back out there pretty quickly.
We took a hot chocolate break and watched the Zamboni clean the ice.
They were chomping at the bit to get back out there!
Go Boo go!
They skated for almost two hours...right up till the last call.
My friend got these pictures.
Other than the injuries it was a great time! We ran a couple errands after the party and had dinner at Arby's with Noni. Boo found a "6" shaped curly fry. :)
Thanks to those who came to the party and helped us celebrate our Boo Bear!
