Silly Girl

When we took Peanut in for her 2 month appoinment T came over to join us, but after five minutes in the waiting room Bug and Boo were already getting ansty so he took them over to his office while I stayed with Peanut for her checkup.

 

When I was done we met back at the car and I found out that the ladies he work with had been entertaining the girls with the things they had on hand. :)

 

Later that day during Boo's nap Bug went out to ride her bike.  One of the neighbors walked by, and I realized Bug was wearing everything she'd gotten from the office.

 

I'm sure our neighbor was a little nervous when she saw her riding around like this.  She probably thought we had contracted a case of the bird flu. :)

When Peanut had these jammies on the other day I decided to get a video, remembering that I have one of Boo in the same spot.  Here’s the original.  You can see if you think they look alike!

Pumpkin Carving

A few years ago Noni bought this book for Bug, My Happy Pumpkin. It’s a sweet little object lesson of God’s plan of salvation.

The gist of it is that God picks us out just like we pick out our pumpkin.  Then He scoops out the goop and the slop (sin) and throws it away. Then just like we put a light in our pumpkins, He puts His light inside us and it comes shining through.  It’s a sweet story and we like to read it before we carve our pumpkins.

For some reason Bug was afraid to reach in and get the goop out, but Boo dove right in.

We talked about why Bug was afraid and what she thought might happen and finally convinced her it was okay.

T drew the designs on the pumpkins (I was impressed!) and then we got to carving.

Hooray!

He did his after they went to bed and surprised them with it the next morning.  

They turned out pretty cute!

Wordless Wednesday

Golf, Froyo, and Fun

On Friday T had a meeting in town so we went with him.  We dropped him off and then the girls and I went to the Dollar Store.  It was actually the first time I’d taken them to a store by myself and they did so well!  They stayed with me and listened/obeyed right away and even stood relatively still while I picked a few cards out. 

I implemented a “one finger” rule.  I had heard of someone else doing this and thought it was a great idea.  They can use one finger to touch whatever they like…eliminating the problem of picking things up, but still allowing them to touch things as they so long to do.  It worked out well now that Peanut pretty much takes up the entire basket and I can’t have them in it like I usually do. I let them each pick out an item for being so good.  Boo chose a new pair of butterfly wings, orange ones.  Bug chose a little ceramic monkey to paint.  They were both thrilled and it only cost $2. :)

After that we met Noni for lunch and Boo went home with her for a nap.  Bug and I went to the grocery store, and picked up a few things.  I really like taking the girls places by themselves so they can get a little extra attention, not only from me but from others.  There were several older people who talked to K and commented on her curly hair or on what a big helper she is.  When I have all three she tends to be the least noticed since she is the biggest.  (Peanut was in her carseat in the basket and covered up.)

After our shopping we went and picked up Daddy and headed to the golf course.  We were planning to take K golfing, but when we got there they said it was 6 and up on the course, no exceptions.  Since I had to feed Peanut she and T just went to the driving range.  She is really enjoying golfing!  I hope she continues to like it because it is a great activity they can do together!

We happened to be near out favorite Frozen Yogurt place so we introduced her to the wonders of FroYo.  We have only been when on “date night” so the girls had never had it before.  Of course it was a huge hit!  She loved being able to pick out her own toppings and only got a little overzealous…

Or maybe a lot. :)

Wait…we found the whipped cream.  And sprinkles. And caramel sauce. And of course we had to have a cherry on top!

And yes she said her tummy was hurting and didn’t finish it all…thank goodness!

We ran a few more errands and then met back up with Noni and Boo for dinner and a little fun.  Peanut had her first “carrousel” ride.

Bug had been playing on my phone and got it all smudgy – there that’s better.

After that Bug and Boo went home with Noni for a sleepover.  What a fun day!

Knock Knock

Our girls LOVE to tell Knock Knock jokes.  They think it is hilarious.  The problem is they don’t know very many…like two, so they usually make them up.  We get a lot of stuff like:

Apple, tree, BANANA! Hahahahahaha!

It’s kind of funny to hear what they come up with.  Here is a classic Boo Bear joke…she was sick and her voice is kind of hoarse, but I thought she sounded cute.  Sorry for the bit of ‘see’-food. :P

Go Auntie Nae!

On Sunday we missed church so that we could go see Auntie Nae complete her 2nd half marathon!  We headed downtown and met up with Grandma, Grandpa, and Waylon.

Then we walked through the park to claim a spot at the finish line.  The girls had made a poster for her that they held up.

Peanut woke up in time to give her support as well. :)

There she is!  The kids got very excited when they saw her.

I am NOT a fan of running so I can’t imagine running 13 miles!  She didn’t even have a red face!  I would have been collapsed on that grass.  Haha :)

We walked over to pick up the shirt she got for finishing and were passing by the carousel so the girls, of course, asked if we could ride.

Bug got a horse named Warrior and Boo’s was named Christmas.  She loved that. :)

I always stand next to Boo when they ride it and it usually makes me a little dizzy as it goes pretty fast.  I thought maybe it would help if I rode the horse next to her.  I don’t think I’ve ridden a horse on this carousel since elementary school. :)

We ate lunch at our favorite little hole in the wall pizza place that has the best breadsticks EVER!  Yum.

What an accomplishment!  Congratulations Auntie Nae!  As Boo says, “You a wock-stawr!”

Two Months

Our little Peanut turned two months old yesterday!  She is getting so alert and expressive, and is just so much fun!  Our most exciting news is that she has started sleeping through the night!  We had one 7 and 1/2 hour stretch four nights ago and then two nights ago she went 8 hours and 55 minutes (I have a sleep timer on my phone) and last night she went 9 hours and 18 minutes!!!!  Sooo nice!  What a good little girl! :)

It’s kind of funny that she is sleeping through the night so soon (8 weeks and 2 days) since I thought she was not doing as well as her sisters in that department.  They both started sleeping about 8 hours straight at the day before 9 weeks, and then by three months were sleeping 11 hours at a time.  Peanut went from sleeping about 5 hours at a time to 9 hours in just two days.  I guess she just wanted to prove she can keep up with those big sisters of hers. :)

Some of the fun things she is doing right now are:

*cooing and “talking” - my favorite of this is when we say hi and she responds, “ai” and when she is happy she says, “ah goo!”

*smiling – she is quite the smiley girl now! Bug and Boo love to make her smile…and we do too!

*holding her head up – she is quite the pro at this and loves to be held upright so she can see everything.

*trying to roll over – she pushes her legs so she can kind of get up on her side.  I don’t think she’ll do it for a while, but she’s practicing with those muscles.

*likes tummy time! (Bug loved it, Boo did not!)

but it always ends the same way…

“Oops, I didn’t mean to do that.”

She also:

*is a spitter! She spits up like crazy! We go through at least two burp rags per feeding and if I don’t put a bib on her she gets her clothes soaked too...and usually mine as well!

*is really pushing the three month clothes, especially jammies. I think she’s ready for me to get the 6 month jammies out already!

*is also pushing the size 1 diapers.  I’m trying to make it through the last pack we opened and then we are moving up to size 2. 

*is drooling like crazy too!  We’ve checked and don’t see anything, but she sure is drooling.

*nurses 6 times a day, anywhere from 8-20 minutes on each side.  During the day she usually does about 12 minutes and then 8, and at her night feeding (around 9:30pm) she goes 15-20 minutes on each side.  She must know she needs to eat a lot so she can sleep longer.

*is down to 3 or 4 poopy diapers a day, but has 6 to 8 wet diapers (those overlap).

*naps poorly in the mornings, but takes a longer nap in the afternoon.  I have to try to remember to put her down earlier in her schedule so that she won’t oversleep her early afternoon feeding. She still naps between every feeding, but the morning and late evening ones are usually only an hour.  Sometimes she won’t nap at all between her dinner feeding (6:30) and her bedtime feeding (9:30).

Her sisters are still doing great with her and love her to pieces!  It’s a lot easier to let them hold her now too since she has a lot better control of her head and I’m not so worried about her little neck.

We went to the doctor this morning and her stats were:

Weight: 11 lbs. 8 oz. – 50%

Height: 22 3/4 in. – 50%

Head circumference – 50%

It’s so funny…she seems to be growing so fast I would have bet money on the fact that she is bigger than her sisters were at this point but I just checked and found their stats for two months. 

Boo’s were:

Weight: 11 lbs. 9 oz. - 75%

Height: 23 1/8 inches - 80%

Head circumference - 75%

And Bug:

Weight: 11 lbs. 14 oz. – 75%

Height: 23 1/8 inches – 75%

Head circumference: – 75%

So Peanut is actually the smallest! Although maybe the charts have changed if a one ounce difference is a 25% difference between Peanut and Boo.

Peanut did great at the doctors.  She didn’t care for the oral rotovirus, or the shots, but the nurse wasn’t super fast and she actually stopped crying between the first set of shots and the second.  She calmed down pretty quickly after and fell asleep quickly because she was an hour past her nap and exhausted.

The doctor did say that he is going to order us an ultrasound just to make sure her hips are okay from being breech.  Apparently there is a much higher chance of hip dysplasia in girls.  He said her hips felt fine, but that it’s better to catch any problems early on so it’s just a preventative measure.

Other than that she is our beautiful happy and healthy girl!

Partyin’ With Fall

Every single year I intend to get us up to the pumpkin patch and every year we end up missing the window of opportunity.  That’s why I was so excited when we got an invitation to a birthday party at one of the Pumpkin Farms!

The only downfall was that our gorgeous weather suddenly went south.  On Friday it was 70 and sunny and then Saturday morning it ended up being 50 and cloudy, which felt sooo cold after this wonderful Indian Summer we’ve been having.  Other than that our pumpkin day was everything I had hoped for!

The last time we made it up to the Pumpkin Farms was when K was a baby…like 5 months old!  So Boo had never been.  She loved it of course!

This particular farm had a corn maze with a castle in the center and a pirate ship playground at the end.  The first thing we did was take the kids on the playground (without doing the maze).

T held Peanut for over an hour while she slept…needless to say his arm was a little tired. :)

Our next activity was to head over to the “trains”.  They were called Little Toot, for the kids, and Big Toot, for everyone.  T looked under the metal train exterior and saw that it was actually a riding lawnmower!  Pretty creative. :)

She was so happy she kept throwing her head back and clapping. I love how joyful she is about things.

After Little Toot we headed over to the giant inflateable slide.  I have never seen one quite this big!  It was huge!  The girls started up…

Bug was doing her best to help Boo up…

But it was just too steep.  Bug made it up fine, and came whizzing down.

Boo kept making it about halfway up and then slipping back down the “ladder”. She finally made it up, but only by being carried by Miss Sara, the birthday boy’s mommy.

She loved sliding down!

At this point I had to head to the car to feed Peanut so Daddy took the girls out to the pumpkin patch to pick their pumpkins.  Of course they needed a ride in the pumpkin wagon. :)

After that they paid for the pumpkins and brought them to the car where Peanut and I were just finishing up.  She got to sit in the pumpkin cart for a photo op.

There were all sorts of booths set up since this is a pretty popular farm.  T went over to our bank’s booth and happened to run into the guy that is doing our refinance (you know, now that we are finally done with our major remodeling projects!).  The guy gave him wrist bands for all of us, and all the people at the birthday party!  So we didn’t have to get any more tickets, and we could do any of the activities at the farm for free! 

Since we had those we decided to go ahead and do the corn maze. The only other corn maze I’d ever been in had people in scary costumes pop out and scare you so I wasn’t sure the girls would enjoy it, but thankfully this one was totally kid friendly.  Here is the only monster we found. :)

This was a pretty impressive maze!  It took us over half an hour to get through it!  We were discussing what type of corn this was because usually cornstalks don’t get above six feet in our area…these ones were at least 10-11 feet tall.

There were two parts of the corn maze with a hedge maze in between.

A really fun castle was in the hedge maze and you could go to the top and look down on the maze.  The girls of course loved it!

We decided to go on Big Toot since we had the wristbands.

Big Toot took us on a little tour of the farm.  Love those gorgeous colors in the trees.

What a fun day!!!  We HAVE to make this a yearly tradition.  We had a great time and the girls loved it!
