Berry Picking

One of the fun things we got to do when Aunt Karen and Aunt Jody were here was to pick blueberries! Last year we had to keep Peaches confined to the stroller, and I didn't know if this year would be the same. I was surprised to find that she toddled around, as happy as a clam, picking  blueberries and eating so many her belly was a big round circle. Haha!

So happy!

 Off to conquer the world!

Last year lots of people at the hospital wanted blueberries. The day before we went the girls had been asking me if they could have a lemonade stand, but with our quiet street I told them it wouldn't work out very well. I told them they could sell any blueberries they picked instead. They did a great job getting tons of blueberries to sell!

The blueberries are $2.50 a pound so I told them they could sell them for $3.50 a pound and make $1 each pound. They ended up making $20 plus $9 in tips! Not bad for a day's work!

Later at Walmart I noticed that organic blueberries were $4.50 for SIX ounces so I didn't feel bad anymore about marking them up $1!

Noni only told her one time to pick the blue and not the green and we never saw her pick a green one.

Blueberry monster!

I ended up with about 40 pounds of blueberries so we have lots of blueberry pancakes, muffins, and scones in our future this fall and winter!

So much fun!

Noni, Karen, and Jody used the blueberries they picked and spent hours canning. They ended up with quite the haul! They discovered the best concoction was raspberry/blueberry!

So good!

The Ten Commandments

This is the VBS song the kids sang at church. When it was time to go Peaches just followed along after the rest and got right up on stage. She thinks she is just as big as the rest! So cute!!!

Pottery

While the Aunties were here we got to go paint pottery! The girls were super excited! Peanut found an elephant to paint right away, Boo decided to make gifts, and Buggy took 35 minutes walking around the store before settling on a squirrel.

Peaches did SO great! I was worried about her in a shop full of pottery but Noni blocked her off a little section and brought some toys and she happily played for nearly two hours!

Mama painted a beautiful platter. Karen and I chose bowls. Jody painted letters for her grandson, and Noni did some more numbers.

Peanut's attention span always amazes me at this place. She painted for about an hour and half on her little elephant. I touched it up a little but she did a great job! After she got done she played with her sister.

Such a fun crew!

We went out to lunch at a local place afterwards and then went back to the house for a nap for the baby, and card games for the rest of us. The pottery came back a week later and it was so fun to see what everyone made!

What a fun day!

Thirty-five!

I had such a nice, relaxing birthday! It was a Sunday so we went to church, where the whole congregation sang happy birthday to me, haha. :) Then we had a potluck afterwards because our friends who moved to Montana were visiting. The kids sang one of their VBS songs which I will upload soon because it was so cute! Peaches was a busy girl and toddled all over the church but took time out for some Noni snuggles.

After church we went home, got Peaches down for a nap and played some cards. Then it was time for cake and presents.

Definitely a "happy" birthday!

The girls helped me open my presents. I got some wonderful gifts!

It was so fun to have Aunt Karen and Aunt Jody there for my birthday!

We played Dominos and after Peaches woke up we headed out to show everyone the progress on the Farmhouse. The girls wanted to show off the Tee Pee they built.

Karen got this cool picture of Peanut in the tall grasses.

We were going to go out to dinner at a really delicious restaurant, but they were closing at 7 instead of 8 like they usually do so we settled for the little burger place (since it's the only other restaurant in that town. Haha!) instead. It was pretty good, and it was nice to sit outside and enjoy a warm, summer evening.

What a wonderful birthday! Thank you so much to everyone for the great presents, cards, and all the happy wishes!

Auntie Visit

We got to spend TWO fun filled weeks with Aunt Karen and Aunt Jody!!! They drove up here from Texas and made it just in time for Mama's 86th birthday! T took off work at noon so that I could go have a girls' day! It felt so strange to be without the kids for 8 hours, but we had a lot of fun! We got to go to Phantom of the Opera and the show was amazing! The sets were so neat and the actors and actresses did a fabulous job! Great show.

After the show we did a little shopping and then Mama chose Mexican food for her birthday dinner.

The waiters came and sang Happy Birthday to her and she was being so funny...cracking me up!

We headed back to the house where we were all too full for the lemon poundcake that Noni made, but we sang happy birthday and let her open her presents.

The girls couldn't wait to see Aunt Karen and Aunt Jody! Especially since they missed their first day in town. Peaches made friends very quickly which surprised me since she's pretty stranger-shy at the moment. Maybe she remembered Aunt Karen from our Texas trip in May?

But she liked Aunt Jody too, whom she had never met.

Spot It!

The weather got up to 100+ the first few days they were here...I guess they brought that Texas heat with them.

Peaches' face cracks me up here...so proud of herself!

They had to show the Aunties how to gather the eggs.

And feed the chickens.

Aunt Jody brought a snow cone maker! So we had to test it out!

Peaches didn't have any, but she did discover that she could get up in the chair! She was quite pleased with herself! Except for when Mommy kept yelling at her to sit down on the chair. She wanted to stand on it.

More pictures from the visit to come!
