It’s baseball time again! Last Saturday was the official opening day for little league. After Auntie Nae and Miss Kenzie took off I packed the little ones in the car and headed up to the fields where K and Daddy had been taking pictures.
It was really sunny, and would have been warm except for the wind. It was really whipping out in the open fields and we got cold quickly just sitting there.

Boo is our little chilly willy. I finally pulled out the blanket I brought for picnicking and wrapped her all the way up in it. That helped. :)

Peanut went to the bathroom twice before we left but still ended up needing to use the Port-O-Potty. :P Thankfully it was actually very clean and didn’t even smell.
After we got back she didn’t want to sit down again so I watched the ceremony while she and Boo found sticks and dug in the dirt.

They let each child run around the bases (I think there were about 150 kids). Here come the Ironbirds! Go orange! T and K moved up to Minors this year which is coach pitch. Since Boo didn’t love t-ball we decided not to have her play this year and mess with the hassle of having kids on two different teams. We’ll see what the future holds for her baseball career. :)
Next year we plan to put Bug in softball as there are only a few girls in minors (and none on our team other than her). She does great though and is one of the fastest on the team!

After the ceremony we had a picnic on the grass with some of our teammates. The men’s club here in town puts on a nice BBQ for opening day every year.

Every other year our game has been at the opening day location but this time we were one town over so after we ate we packed up into the pickup and headed to the game. I’m glad we did though because just 12 miles down the road there was no wind! It warmed up in a hurry and the sunshine felt great!
Buggy looked so cute in her uniform. :)

I thought the kids did a great job for their first game! Here’s Bug playing second base.

Ready for the ball!

Go Buggy go!

The little ones had a hard time sitting in a confined space for so long. Playing on mommy’s phone and drawing only kept them occupied for so many minutes. I’ll have to think of some other things to bring for next time!

Buggy up to bat!

There were a LOT of strike outs. The coaches have to pitch and it’s harder than you would think to try to throw a good pitch into such a tiny strike zone! Several of our kids got a good hit, but they will definitely have to do some more practicing!
Bug picks the number of her age for her uniform each year (since we are the ones handing out the uniforms she gets first pick:) and it’s hard to believe she is going to be 8 in just two weeks!

We didn’t win, but I thought the kids did a great job! Rah rah team!

Good Game Ironbirds!

We’re looking forward to a great season!
