In August we made a long overdue trip to the farm! I found this picture on my phone later. :P
Both sets of cousins got to come so the girls were super excited! Peanut got to open her birthday present from Auntie D and family.
We had a twofold purpose for going this time...to visit with the family and to have a work weekend! Grandpa had to tear up the lawn last winter to fix a leak in pipes that tree roots had gone through and he hadn't had time to put it back together. Our goal was to remedy that plus cut back the plants, trees, and foliage that were trying to take over. With 18 of us, two weedeaters, two chainsaws, two tractors, and multiple other gardening tools we whipped it back into shape!
The girls did a great job working on whatever jobs we assigned them. Peanut and K weeded the front flowerbeds the first day.
Even the little ones helped some! Lou and Peaches enjoyed sweeping the front patio.
Boo loved using the power tools. Haha.
The little ones weeded for a bit before getting bored. :)
Cousin S played a game with them that night when it got dark.
So happy!
We all got right back at it the next morning. Peanut, K, and Boo tackled the playground.
It's hard to see in this picture but cousin E spent hours weedeating, and S, J, Auntie M, and Uncle B chopped down and hauled away so many suckers that had started to turn into legitimate trees.
Lunch break!
I didn't get a before picture but this walkway that T and his dad built for our wedding had become a small tunnel through the trees for Grandpa to squeeze through on his way up to his shop. I claimed this job and went crazy with a pair of hedge trimmers. I whacked away for hours until the pathway was opened up once more.
The girls worked so hard getting the grass and weeds out of the rocks and sandbox.
Here's the only before and after I managed to get. A bunch of worked on this back area.
And turned it into this! Grandpa had a pile of gravel waiting to be spread...that made a huge difference just by itself!
I didn't get a before pic of the driveway but it was about six feet narrower than this before we attacked it.
Peanut was mimicking this angel statue. Haha.
After we finished for the night the kids played their "Among Us" game which is especially creepy in the dark!
They also played pool and board games.
The girls worked hard so the next day we took them out to lunch on the way home and let them get ice cream.
It was a busy weekend but so much fun to visit while working together. I was also seriously impressed with how much we were able to get done! Many hands truly do make light work!
