Weekend at the Farm!

In August we made a long overdue trip to the farm! I found this picture on my phone later. :P

Both sets of cousins got to come so the girls were super excited! Peanut got to open her birthday present from Auntie D and family.

We had a twofold purpose for going this time...to visit with the family and to have a work weekend! Grandpa had to tear up the lawn last winter to fix a leak in pipes that tree roots had gone through and he hadn't had time to put it back together. Our goal was to remedy that plus cut back the plants, trees, and foliage that were trying to take over. With 18 of us, two weedeaters, two chainsaws, two tractors, and multiple other gardening tools we whipped it back into shape!

The girls did a great job working on whatever jobs we assigned them. Peanut and K weeded the front flowerbeds the first day.

Even the little ones helped some! Lou and Peaches enjoyed sweeping the front patio.

Boo loved using the power tools. Haha.

The little ones weeded for a bit before getting bored. :)

Cousin S played a game with them that night when it got dark.

So happy!

We all got right back at it the next morning. Peanut, K, and Boo tackled the playground.

It's hard to see in this picture but cousin E spent hours weedeating, and S, J, Auntie M, and Uncle B chopped down and hauled away so many suckers that had started to turn into legitimate trees.

Lunch break!

I didn't get a before picture but this walkway that T and his dad built for our wedding had become a small tunnel through the trees for Grandpa to squeeze through on his way up to his shop. I claimed this job and went crazy with a pair of hedge trimmers. I whacked away for hours until the pathway was opened up once more.

The girls worked so hard getting the grass and weeds out of the rocks and sandbox.

Here's the only before and after I managed to get. A bunch of worked on this back area.

And turned it into this! Grandpa had a pile of gravel waiting to be spread...that made a huge difference just by itself!

I didn't get a before pic of the driveway but it was about six feet narrower than this before we attacked it.

Peanut was mimicking this angel statue. Haha.

After we finished for the night the kids played their "Among Us" game which is especially creepy in the dark!

They also played pool and board games.

The girls worked hard so the next day we took them out to lunch on the way home and let them get ice cream.

It was a busy weekend but so much fun to visit while working together. I was also seriously impressed with how much we were able to get done! Many hands truly do make light work!

Leftover Thursday

Peaches and Lou decided that it was Danny the Dinosaur's birthday the other day. I let them make cupcakes, blow up a few balloons, and they wrapped a few presents. :)

I think Danny enjoyed it. :P

The chicks that Noni got this spring have just started laying eggs! She gave us the first tiny egg.

Peaches drew a face on it.

It looked so cute and small in the pan with the other eggs. :)

The girls are constantly finding "pets". Moths, grasshoppers, sage bugs...they will find one or two, name them, and then carry it around until it inevitably dies. :P The other day we had two pet moths named Ruthie and Guthie. Lol. This day they had grasshoppers and I don't know if they were stunned or what but they really did just sit on their hands and not hop away. For hours.

Peaches even carried one around on her nose for a while. :P

They make houses and mazes for their pets out of blocks or Legos and I never see any squishing or damage, but somehow after a few hours their pets just die. Maybe from emotional trauma. :P

Happy Thursday!

Pool Party!

The day of Peanut's birthday Bug was already babysitting the O girls so she also picked up B and brought all three girls to the pool while I went the other way and got the two C girls. We met up and barely put down our stuff before all the girls were in the water!

It wasn't a super warm day so we were the only ones at the pool at the beginning and there were only a handful of other kids there the rest of the time.

We invited siblings so everyone had someone to play with.

The slide was a big hit as usual.

Boo took Lou down several times.

They had so much fun playing and swimming and splashing!

Cannonball!

Birthday pencil!

Lou is getting so big! She went off the diving board with no hesitation.

We took a time out for cupcakes.

And presents!

They swam for another couple hours and then I let them all pick something from the concession stand. It clouded up in the afternoon and actually sprinkled for about an hour but as long as they were in the water they stayed warm. When they got out they were freezing, but that didn't stop them from choosing popscicles. :P

Goofy girl. She always wants a picture of her tongue when eating ice cream and asks, "What color is my tongue?"

Lou is very versatile. She can play happily with older or younger kids and is also just as happy to play by herself.

They played Marco Polo and all sorts of other games I didn't quite understand. :P

What a fun celebration of our Peanut!
