After we left Whit’s End we tried to make it a couple hours in the car before stopping for lunch. Poor Peanut was so tired she fell asleep about 15 minutes before our planned stop.
We always stop at a really fun playground, but when we got there it was all shut down! Bummer! Noni had the girls run and play in the grass while I got gas and lunch and then we hit the road again.
We let Peanut fall asleep after lunch, but the best she ever napped in the car was an hour.
She was pretty happy when she woke up though…

The base in New Mexico that we stay has a playground and it was a big hit after 6 hours in the car that day. Bug saw it and said, “Two fun things in ONE day! Yahoo!”
This toad looks small but it was the size of my fist! After dark I went to get something out of the car and there were a bunch of them hopping around on the sidewalks.
The next morning we hit the playground again while Noni got gas and a few supplies for camp at the commissary. Peanut ran over to me, “Mommy! Mommy! A bunny live at this playground!”
Sure enough!
We hit the road for our last day, only 5 hours of driving. We left the main Interstates and traveled the small, country, two lane highways. T texted me at one point, “Out in the middle of nowhere?” This was my reply. The wide open spaces of Texas!
We made it to camp around dinner time. It was SO nice to be back after four years away. There is something about this place…it’s probably my favorite place on Earth!
Wish we could have been there! Love it!
