Cooking Party!

Yesterday I got to do something I’ve always wanted to do…have a freezer meal party!  I love the concept of freezer meals, but the few recipes I’ve tried have been pretty bland so I was thrilled when one of my best friends from high school started doing Freezer Meal Workshops with Wildtree.  Everything I’ve tried of theirs has tasted so good and has tons of flavor so I’m really excited to try all my meals.  It also has the added bonus of being all natural.  I’m always trying to cook healthier with less preservatives, etc. so that was a big selling feature for me!

It was a great group of 7 people and we had SO MUCH fun!  My only regret was that I was I didn’t get to visit with each person, but I enjoyed the snatches of conversations. :)

The girls got to play with some friends upstairs while we created.

What a great way to cook…fun with friends, and you get meals for your freezer that you can just toss in the crockpot later!  I loved it!!  Here’s what I ended up with…

Thanks so much for doing my party, Liv!  We had a great time and we can’t wait to try the meals!

Funny Friday

We just saw this last week on a date night.  Soo cute.

IMG_0896

I sing this song all the time so this picture cracked me up. :)

IMG_1001

I sent this to Auntie Nae because it reminded me of the single most funny fall I have ever seen in my life.

IMG_1022

This is TOTALLY me!

IMG_1004

If ever a picture described my life right now this is it. :)

IMG_1015

I like to find funny cartoons and send them to T when he is having a long day at work. :)

IMG_1107

I want to print this out so K can have a good visual!

IMG_1093

Oh so true!

Fuzzy Wuzzy Had No Hair

I have a little rhyme that I repeat to Peanut that ends with “you have no hair!” because she seems to be a bit follicly challenged at this point.  Although it’s just par for the course for our kiddos!  It seems like most kids have plenty of hair by the time they are one, but each of our girls have been slow-growing in that department. Here’s a recent picture of Peanut.  She has one good patch of hair that sprouts out of the area that would be covered by a yamaka.  We try to comb it forward so it looks like she has at least a little hair.  :)

I looked up at what age the other two finally started growing hair.  Here’s Boo around her 1st birthday.  Not much hair, but at least she would still let me put a headband in; Peanut just rips them right off.

This is an expression we see a lot.  Guess Peanut got it from her big sister. :)

Here are two pictures from the first time I did Boo’s hair.  They were from April of that year so she was about 15 months.

Aww, look at that chubby little face!

Here’s a picture from K’s first birthday.  Not much hair to speak of.

This is K at 15 months, so she had even less than S.

This is one of the first pictures I found of her with her hair done.  It was in February of 09’ so she was only about two and half months away from her 2nd birthday!

So the moral of this little tale is that I need to be more patient and wait for Peanut’s hair to grow in.  I guess I shouldn’t complain.  I already spend more time fixing the girls’ hair then my own.  Once Peanut needs hers done it will probably be a ponytail every day for me! :)

A Silent Play

Bug and Boo called me into the breezeway and told me they had a show I needed to come see.  This is what followed. :)
We've been cleaning out the basement so they've been finding lots of Christmas items and getting into the Christmas spirit already.  I made them a deal that as soon as Halloween is over we can start decorating...much earlier than usual but they're ready to get going!

Weekend Getaway

After realizing that we hadn’t been to the farm since the 4th of July we decided to get away for the weekend.  On our way down we found we had inadvertently come on the weekend of the year…the town fair!  After assuring the girls that we would do our best to come back the next day we continued on to Grandma and Grandpa’s.

The girls were SO excited to arrive!  They’d been beside themselves all week, asking me over and over if it was time to go yet.  I asked them what their favorite thing about Grandma and Grandpa’s was.  K said, “The closet!”  They have two huge closets downstairs, one filled with toys and games, and the other which has been converted into bunk beds.  S said, “Wapunzel!” Since they have that movie and we don’t. :)

On Saturday morning we all got up and Boo wanted to help Grandpa make breakfast.   She loves to cook!

Grandma bought the girls new dress up clothes!  A Cinderella dress for K, Belle for S, and a ladybug costume for A.  So cute!

After breakfast we all got ready and headed down to the fair.  The parade was the first order of business.  They LOVE parades!

Since K has been taking Cheer classes she was SO excited to see the “big girl cheerleaders!”

If you don’t believe how excited she was here is a visual. :)

We headed over to see a few animals.  The girls just had to have their pictures taken as a Cowboy.

Grandma even helped Peanut get in on the fun.

Then Grandma (the only brave adult) took the girls on the Ferris Wheel.

Boo Bear looked at the ground almost the whole time.  Funny girl!

Then they got to go on the kiddie roller coaster.

IMG_1046

I was laughing SO hard.  Bug had this look of terrified delight the first half of the ride.  She finally started to relax after the third or fourth time around.

IMG_1049

I think Boo is looking at her trying to decide whether to be happy or scared. :)

So funny.

T took them into the fun house maze.

Then it started to rain so we headed back to the farm where Auntie Nae, Uncle Wade, and Waylon had just arrived.  We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out, relaxing and catching up.  It was great!

We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

“Dat Funny?”–Part 9

August 1st

The girls were spending the night at Noni’s.  She texted me and said after reading their bible and praying that S said, “I want to pway for Mommy and Daddy.  That’s my pwaying quest.”

August 4th

We’ve been trying to teach the girls about the concept of taking a vote to prevent arguing.  They like to argue about which restaurant to eat at, which store to go to, etc.  This particular day we were trying to decide between two choices and we said, “Let’s take a vote”.  When everyone voted for the same thing I said, “Good! It’s unanimous!” S, very excited, said, “YEAH! It’s like a SQAURE!”

August 15th

Bug and Boo are both backseat drivers but Boo seems to pay extra attention to every little thing we do in the car.  I try to obey the no calls/texting laws, but this particular day I needed to send a return text.  I didn’t realize she was watching me, but I heard a shouting, “Pay attention to da woad Mommy!”  I said, “What?” and she asked, “What are you doing?” in the same tone that I often use for her. I said, “Nothing.” To which she replied, “Then why are you doing a text-a-text-text?  Wee-member? Auntie Nina’s cousin got in an accident from going a text-a-text-text.”

August 19th

Even though she’s done with napping she will still occasionally fall asleep in the middle of the day, almost always on the floor wherever she was playing.  K and I found her and she started to stir so K said, “Hi Boo.” She rolled over with her eyes still closed and growled, “Get out!”

August 20th

The girls were playing upstairs.  Noni and Papa were here.  We hear them starting to argue and S yell, “No!  That’s NOT ed-ja-ba-cational!”

August 24th

When we were camping the host’s name was Dennis.  Now whenever she talks about it she says, “Wee-member when we went to camping by Dr. Dentist?”

Hamster Fun

We finally figured out a way that Peanut can play with Herbie!  We still have to sit right with her so she doesn't get too rough but at least this way he doesn't end up mashed in a little fist.  You can see that she is so excited she is spinning in circles.  Poor little Herbie must have felt like he was on a ride at Disney Land. :)
P.S. You can hear Boo Bear in the background discovering some lotion that I found when I moved all the furniture.  So funny. :)

Schedule

Well we are officially back in the swing of our school-year schedule.  Both Awana and dance started last week and bible study will be starting up soon.

I got several pictures of Boo in her dance outfit but didn’t realize that none of them were good until I started to get this post together.  The only one I got of her smiling was one when we were already there.

dance

Bug has moved up to the 6-9 class and this year they are combining ballet/tap with cheer so two weeks they do one then two weeks with the other.

Cheer was up first and I thought she looked so cute in her shorts and new tennis shoes. :)

dance1

Here she is with one of her best friends.

dance2

The girls were ECSTATIC for the first day of Awana!  They asked me no less than ten times if it was time to leave.  They both had a blast and can’t wait for this week!

awana

While I love the lazy days of summer I also love a good schedule so I’m happy to be back in the swing of things!

Carpet!

T and I have been debating putting carpet in the living room and downstairs bedrooms for a while now. I thought it was a pretty big expense for something not totally necessary.  We have very pretty original hardwoods, and one day someone will probably rip out the carpet and wonder why we covered them up, but he has really been wanting it. I wasn’t that convinced that it would make a big difference.  I was totally wrong.

HUGE improvement!  It changes the whole feel of the house!  For the first time in almost five years I sat on my bedroom floor!  It feels warmer and more inviting, and is just 100% better!  Love it.

It took us several days to get prepped for the carpet guys.  We moved the couches and I swept out from underneath.  Here is the pile even though we had cleaned under them just a few months ago.  This pile is after all the toys, books, and clothes were removed.  I found five different socks underneath so it’s not the dryer that eats socks, it’s the couch! :)

carpet

Here is one of the main reasons T wanted carpet…

carpet6

For some reason, in our room, and on one wall of the nursery the hardwoods didn’t go all the way to the walls.  No idea why.

carpet7

I’ve been living with my multi-colored, multi-surfaced closet floor for almost five years now!

carpet8

Here is the dining room piled with three rooms of furniture.

The girls were excited to watch the process in between schooling lessons.  There were three guys and they finished in a little under four hours! I was impressed with their speed.
