Rain Rain Go Away

We had such a great time at the lake, but it would have been even better without the rain!  It rained on and off the whole time we were there.  Of course, as soon as we left the temperature was supposed to shoot up into the 80’s and 90’s.  Oh well. :P  We actually have a 102 on the 10 day forecast!  Woo hoo!  I’m ready for some good summer weather! 

Even though the weather wasn’t very cooperative we still went for walks, the playground, and even swam.  There wasn’t any thunder or lightening so we went for it.

I had to get the girls annual pictures to see how much they’ve grown.  Buggy really shot up this past year!

This was the first year the girls really played on this area of the playground.  I don’t really know what it’s for…just climbing I suppose. 

We went down to the beach, but this part was just pea gravel, not sand.  That is the only thing I miss about staying at the resort where the conference is…the sandy beach, but the three bedroom/two bath condo is definitely worth the lack of beach!!!

The girls kept wanting to cross the street so they could use the flags. :)

The condo has two bedrooms w/king size beds and one bedroom w/bunk beds so we had plenty of room for Noni and Papa.  They came down on Monday and stayed two nights with us.  It was so nice to have someone to hang out with while T was at meetings, and he said it was the fastest/best conference there yet because he wasn’t sitting there worrying about us.  Papa stayed in the condo to work on his computer a lot which was perfect for Peanut because she got to have good naps, and we still got to get out and about!

Noni was such a good sport and came swimming with us several times even though it really wasn’t that warm and she hates to be cold!  We had to end each swimming session in the hot tub to get rid of the chills.

Daddy joined us too as soon as he got done for the day.  Love Peanut’s smile in this picture!

The girls had a TV in their room and it was quite the treat when I let them watch Word World and Sid the Science Kid, two of our favorite shows.

The girls formed a theater troupe and gave us many “shows”.

Bug is getting pretty good at card games lately and it is a great way for me to sneak in some math.  I make her add up her score at the end and sometimes mine too.  Two of our games have different scoring systems so it’s a great exercise for her little brain.

Noni took this on our last day from our front door.  The girls and I are down there on the left in the pool.

I think they each jumped in at least two dozen times!

Boo Bear is so darn cute. She just makes my heart happy. :)

And I was so proud of Buggy and how brave she was by the end!  I still can’t believe she swam all on her own!  I’m so glad Noni was there to capture it on video.

Escape to the Lake

Sunday through Wednesday we made our escape to the lake!  We actually didn’t get in the lake at all, but we had a great time! :)

The Road of Death dealt it’s cruel blow to Buggy this time, but thankfully no one threw up!  We’ve all had colds, and hers was at it’s peak on the way down making her…and the rest of us…miserable!

Poor Buggy!

She actually started crying at one point, but I put in an Adventure in Odyssey CD to take her mind off it which, thankfully, helped. She perked up as soon as we got there and as soon as we brought the luggage up we changed into our swimsuits to hit the pool!

We brought a pool floaty for Peanut and she loved it!  This one was given to us by the cousins and she thought attached toys were awesome!  She floated contentedly while the girls splashed and jumped and doggie paddled around.

We ordered a pizza while at the pool and then hustled upstairs to get changed into jammies before the delivery guy got there.  We let the girls watch TV while eating.  They loved it!

Swimming

Last night we got back from T’s conference trip that we go to every June.  We had the added bonus of Noni and Papa this year!  They came for two of the three nights and it was SO nice to have someone to keep the girls and I company while Daddy was at meetings all day.  I have lots of pictures that I’ll have to edit, but for now I’ll leave you with this exciting development!

Buggy’s first time swimming!!!  I knew she’d be able to do it if she would just work up the nerve, and I was so surprised when she suggested it herself!  This was right before we had to check out and the fifth time we’d been down to the pool and she just went for it!  Yay Buggy!

Wordless Wednesday

Izzy Love

Peanut thinks Izzy is fascinating.  She often crawls over to the kitchen door where she can watch her through the glass panes.  One night Izzy came in through the door that someone forgot to latch (she does this at every possible opportunity) and Peanut was so excited she was shaking.  It was pretty cute so I had to go grab the camera.  She calmed down a bit by the time I got the video going, but I thought it was still cute. :)

Mini-Golf

On Saturday we decided to use a Groupon I had purchased and take the girls miniature golfing!  Boo always asks to go with Bug and Daddy, but we figured this might be more her speed.  Turns out it was still a little too “fast” for her but we all had fun. :)

This was the first time I’ve really seen Buggy in action.  She’s got a pretty darn good swing!

Boo took a different approach: one good whack and then a side-scoot-push and sometimes a pick-up-the-ball-place-in-hole maneuver. :)

Peanut played her own games like How Many Times Will They Pick Up My Toys? and How Many Times Will They Put My Socks Back On?

Boo did a little victory cheer every time her ball made it to the hole, often shouting “Oh yeah! Hole in one!” (or 20, but who’s counting?)

It’s really fun that the girls are getting old enough to enjoy some of these bigger-kid activities!

VBS

Whew!  What a week!  I am always exhausted by the end of VBS, but it is so much fun! 

I was one of the snack ladies again this year.  Our menu was:

Monday – dirt cups (pudding, Oreo crumbs, gummy worms)

Tuesday – fruit kabobs

Wednesday – Root Beer Floats

Thursday – Smores

Friday – Trail Mix

Boo was in the nursery with the three year olds…

She is so thoughtful.  She did something to earn a sticker so she picked one for her big sister, even choosing green since she knows it’s K’s favorite color. :)

Bug had a BLAST all week!  Every time I saw her she was busy with one thing or another!

Outdoor games with friends!

It was a not-so-good week weather wise.  Monday was 80 and gorgeous but the rest of the days it was cold and rainy.  They finally got to play outside again today, but I think it was only 55 out there! Brr.

Boo Bear didn’t fare as well as Bug.  I think she is still just a bit too young.  I am in the bad habit of forgetting she is only 3.  She is pretty mature for her age and she and K do everything together, making me forget that she is a lot younger than her big sister!  I realized that with dance too.  Looking back I should have made her wait another year, but she just SO wants to do what her big sister does that I put her in stuff and forget that she’s not quite emotionally ready.

Monday and Tuesday she did great and stayed in her room the whole time.  Wednesday she had a mini-meltdown when I served her room snacks and she ended up coming with me the rest of the morning.  Thursday she was done and asked to stay home with Mama who had come to stay with Peanut (so nice!).  Friday she reluctantly went in her room and made it most of the morning before spotting me.  After that she helped me with my snack deliveries. :)

All in all it was a good week and we all had a great time!  I think we had over 80 kids on the last day! 

Yay for VBS!
