Opening Day

Saturday was our big opening day ceremonies.  It was so fun to watch!  I love T-Ball.  The kids are just too adorable when they are this small.  I had to grab this picture of Coach T’s little ducklings following behind him. So cute.

Our little Boo was one of the smallest.  We are actually trying to get the board to raise the age limit to 5 because 4 is just a little too young…BUT then we didn’t follow our own rule.  :P  Since Daddy is the coach and this will be the only year K&S can play together we decided to let her play.  She did look awfully cute in her little XS pants. :)

For the opening ceremonies we started with the Star Spangled banner and then each Little Leaguer got to run around the bases.  It took a while with almost 200 kids!

After the ceremonies we had pictures and a BBQ and our first game.

T did a great job keeping the kids on task and organized.

Boo Bear was turning and ducking from the ball, but we finally got her to try to catch it.

And our grown up Buggy girl.  She’ll move up to the “minors” next year.

Boo and our other littlest player were about done by the time the game started since we’d been there three hours already.  It was NOT warm. I was wearing four layers on top and two on bottom and I was still cold.  T or I had to stand by the two littlest during every inning to keep them on task and off the ground where they kept sitting/falling down. :)

But Boo had a lot of fun when it was her turn to bat! She loved running around the bases!

Buggy is our big slugger.  She was hitting the ball really hard!

We are playing with real outs this year which makes so much more sense!  It’s so hard for kids to get on base every time in T-Ball and then move up to minors the next year and all the sudden they’re out if they don’t beat the ball to the base.  This year that’s changing and we are playing with true outs (but not three outs closing the inning).  Bug was so excited when she made THREE outs when it was her turn to play first!

They all did a great job and I was so proud of our little team!  I’m looking forward to the season ahead.

P.S. One of the best parts of the day was that Noni came and stayed with Peanut (who has a little cold) and she cleaned the house and made us a big pan of lasagna for dinner!  Yum!  Thank you Mom!  We are so thankful for you!!!

T-Ball Time!

Well it’s that time of year again…T-Ball time!  T volunteered to be a coach again so the girls have a Coach Daddy. :)

Our first practice was at the park and it actually worked out really well to let the kids run off some energy before we started.

I’ve been really impressed at T’s coaching!  He’s been very organized and methodical about teaching them the fundamentals of the game.  The first practice they played baseball freezetag to practice their grip on the ball.  Of course the kids loved having Coach T chase them all over and didn’t even realize they were learning something. :)

Then he spent the rest of the practice teaching them to throw.

He spent the second practice doing throwing and running the bases, and the third was for hitting.  Saturday was our big opening ceremonies and our little T-Ballers did an awesome job! Pictures tomorrow!

Easter Sunday

Okay, last of the Easter pictures!  Sunday morning the girls were up early so I had them hop in the shower.  We’d gotten home late from our fun at the farm the night before and they were dirty from running all over digging in dirt and playing with the chicks.

After they got dressed they got to see their Easter baskets and open them while eating breakfast and having their hair fixed.  Nothing like multi-tasking before church on Sunday mornings! :)

I like to do a small basket with just a few items. They each got a book, new flip flops, socks, bubbles, and a little treat.

And K&S got tape.  They LOVE tape and they are constantly using mine so I use occasions like this to get them their own. :)

We made it to Sunday school in the nick of time and had a wonderful morning with our church family.  Then it was back to the house with Noni, Papa, Mama, Grandma, and Grandpa for a big Easter lunch. I didn’t get pictures this year since I figured they’d pretty much just look like last year’s pictures since the girls were wearing the same dresses! I really wanted to buy new dresses, but these ones fit them even better than last year (when they were a little big) and looked cute, AND hadn’t been worn since last Easter!

Noni got the girls fun Easter baskets. Grandma got the girls Frozen but gave it to them a couple of weeks ago. It’s already been watched at least a dozen times!

We spent a fun afternoon with the family, celebrating our risen Lord.  It’s hard to slow down sometimes and remember all that He did on that cross, but it means EVERYTHING.

And we are so thankful.

Easter Party!

Last weekend we made a quick one-night trip out to the farm for Grandma’s annual Easter party!  We started off with Resurrection Rolls.

The idea is that the marshmallow represents Jesus.  You roll it in butter (oil) and cinnamon and sugar (the spices) and then wrap it up in a crescent roll (the tomb).

Then you bake it and the marshmallow melts and when they go to open it up the roll (tomb) Jesus is gone…risen from the dead.  It was a neat little object lesson and I thought they were getting a good visual until Boo got her roll and said, “Hey! Jesus MELTED!” Haha :)

Then it was time for the main event! The big Easter Egg hunt!  There were several hundred eggs for 6 kids and they had a blast finding each and every one!

The Daddies hid the eggs and then they were off!

Buggy was one of the “big” kids since several of the older ones didn’t make it this year.

I thought Boo Bear looked so grown up and adorable in her jeans and purple shirt. :)

Wait for me!

Peanut had just as much fun as the big kids!  She had a special little area with eggs just for her and we showed her one and she went to town!

She kept going, “Ohh! Oooo!  Eck! (egg)”

After the obvious ones were found the adults went around and did the annual post-hunt hot and cold game for the eggs that weren’t spotted the first time.

Poor Waylon was the one boy with 5 girl cousins but I guess he’s pretty used to it. :)

Here’s one somebody missed!

Peanut decided she wanted to see what was in them rather than find more.  She started dumping them out on the ground to get to the bottom of the basket.

There was a silver egg and a gold egg that had $5 each in them!  The kids searched high and low.

And finally the oldest found the silver one high up on the distribution center.  Waylon found the gold one early on.

Then it was back inside to sort out the loot.

This is Peanut’s “feed me” face.  She was quite please to discover the treats inside!

And the money too.  Although she just likes to stack it and clink it together.

Then it was time for the Piñata that Auntie Nae and Waylon made.  I was inside changing a dirty diaper so I’m not sure who cracked it open but here are some pics from T’s phone of Boo giving it a whack.

Maybe she was the one who got it because there weren’t any pictures of Bug hitting it. :)

We put all the goodies in bags and Peanut, after having discovered the goodness within, was caught red-handed trying to eat through the wrappers, bag and all!
