Ice Skating

The other day we got to go ice skating with some friends! We try to do it at least once a year so this was our shot.

It started out pretty rough! K was NOT happy with the way the skates felt on her feet. I’ll be the first to admit that ice skates are anything but comfortable but she had a small meltdown…thankfully her first one in quite a while! She has been doing SO much better with her SPD issues and has even worn jeans a few times in recent weeks!

Boo was happy to put her skates on. I bundled the kids up in their snow suits since last time she didn’t last very long before proclaiming herself too cold. It worked great and we were able to stay for 2.5 hours!

Once Bug got going she stopped complaining about the skates and started having fun. Here she is with her sweet friend, L.

And here’s a picture I took over my shoulder of them chatting and going around the rink.

Bug did great skating this year! She was even trying out some tricks!

And Boo did way better than she ever has before! She was actually going around by herself a little bit!

It was fun, but rather exhausting. Good thing we only do it once a year! Haha :)

Wordless Wednesday

Five!

Our sweet Boo is five today. FIVE! Seems like just the other day we were bringing our little 8lb. 3oz. dark haired tiny baby home from the hospital.

What a five years it has been! Boo has brought so much joy and laughter into our lives!

She is all girl! She loves dressing up, playing princesses and Barbies, dancing, and singing!

She started out life as a mellow baby and I’d say she is still pretty mellow, however she is very sensitive and gets her feelings hurt easily…not to say that she doesn’t have good reason! Between getting bossed around by her older sister and pinched, poked, and stepped on (we’re working on it!) by her little sister sometimes her life can be quite tragic. :)

Boo LOVES preschool and dance class and has lots of little friends at both places, and AWANA as well.

Her reading is improving daily and she counted to 129 for me yesterday. She still has trouble with her l’s and r’s, but Noni (the preschool teacher) says that’s totally normal and should correct itself.

And in the latest news…Boo has a loose tooth! She is SOOO excited!

I love how happy Boo is. She is so full of joy. Her smile and laughter are contagious and I can’t imagine our family without her!

Jump!

We finally attended our first K12 outing! We never have before because we are part of a local homeschool group that has field trips and classes once a month (each) but I’d been wanting to try this place out so we decided to give it a go!

It was one of those trampoline places where all the floors and walls are trampolines! The girls LOVED it!

And all my pictures are blurry because they weren’t slowing down for anything!

There was an 8 and under section with a slide and this cool climbing area. The straps going across were elastic and the bottom part was a big plastic inflated thing with lights that changed color so it was ice, lava, and green slime depending on what color it was.

Whee!

The foam pit was the favorite! They must have jumped in 20 times each!

The foam pit was right next to the basketball section so I shot some hoops and jumped, able to keep an eye on them while they did the foam pit. When they finally came down the few steps to where I was Boo saw me making shots, “Wow! How’d you do that Mommy?” then she looked around and pointed to the pictures, “You just followed the directions?” Haha :) Quick thinker!

This octopus was also a big hit. It was an inflatable and spun in a continuous circle. They had a ball hanging off it and climbing over his arms as he spun like some kind of weird treadmill. :)

One of the boys from K’s class was there so she finally got to meet one of her classmates! We had a great time! I hope we get to go back sometime!

Little Lambs

The other night Noni had the cutest little game going at Awana. Their lesson was on lambs and their shepherd so they lined up against one wall (with their lamb ears on) and had to get to the other side without being caught by the wolf (Noni) and if they did they were stuck in the middle square until a Shepherd came to get them. It was adorable.

I went in to get a video and Boo was SO excited. Peanut is in the top right corner in purple.

Leftover Thursday

Here’s a few leftover pictures. I took this one during church. I love to see my girls singing their little hearts out! Even Peanut sings along! Noni was holding Boo and I had Peanut. K likes to sit with her friends. :)

Taking a drive one day. It was Cocoa’s first one and she seemed to enjoy it. :)

You might be a frazzled Mom if you pour your orange juice into your cereal bowl first…and THEN your glass.

Can a 7.5 year old fit in a baby PeaPod? Yep! And sleep there happily!

K found a flight suit in Noni’s Barbie stuff so she dressed this one up and said, “It’s Auntie Eve in her Navy suit! Now she can fight for us!”

Wordless Wednesday

A Little Snow

Our weather has been interesting this winter: hardly any snow, temperatures fluctuating between the 50’s and –10.

The other day we finally got more than a skiff of snow so the girls bundled up and headed out to play when we got home even though it was nearly dark.

They didn’t last very long, but seemed to enjoy it while they were out there.

And we did have enough to make snow ice cream!

We had pizza game night, playing the new PS3 drawing game that Noni and Papa gave them for Christmas.

And then had brownies and our snow ice cream for dessert. Yum!

The next morning I took Boo to preschool while T was shoveling the walks and when I got back (three minutes later) K&A were both outside in their pajamas. :)

It will be interesting to see whether Spring comes early or if this weird winter gives us any more surprises.
