My favorite highlight of the trip was floating the river! It was so fun! We dropped Mama off at the house so she could rest and watch the Mariners game and the rest of us headed back to town. They have several companies that do it, but this one allowed kids Peanut’s age so we went with them.

We had to wait a little bit, and then we got to load up in their van and headed to the river! Uncle K had a waterproof camera so he was able to capture the trip!

The weather was gorgeous! It was the perfect day for a river float!

We found a waterfall right off the bat!

They gave us Frisbees to use as paddles! Pretty clever and they worked great!

The scenery was absolutely beautiful and it was so relaxing to just float.

Peanut stuck with Noni…actually she refused to go to anyone else. Noni was her safest bet I guess. Haha :)

We stopped at one little island and let the kids play on the sandbar for quite a while. Peanut loved it!

I was walking along when a little fawn walked out of the brush! It wasn’t skittish at all and let us get fairly close.

Dig, dig, dig.

Swim, swim, swim.

We saw lots of ducks, geese, another bigger deer, and even a raccoon getting drink!

By this time the girls were getting really brave and Bug and Boo swam (in their lifejackets) along side us as we floated.

The float was supposed to take an hour and half, but we stopped to swim and play several times and ended up taking three and half hours!

We finally made it to the end and Buggy dragged us in the rest of the way. :)

What a great trip!

Leavenworth

Aunt J just graduated with her Masters so as part of her graduation present we wanted to take the family on a trip together!

We packed all of us up in two cars and took a road trip to the little Bavarian town of Leavenworth. It is such a fun place and feels like you’ve been transported to a German village! Uncle K actually lived in Germany for four (I think?) years during his time in the military so he really enjoyed the food and feel of it.

We rented a big house so we could all be together and the first night the men grilled steaks for us on the BBQ. Yum!

Unfortunately there were some problems with the grounds and we couldn’t really go outside…more about that later. But we played games and had fun inside.

There wasn’t central AC either and in this heat wave we’ve been having the two little window units couldn’t keep up! The house stayed at about 80 degrees the whole time we were there. As soon as it started cooling down at night we opened all the windows and that helped a little.

They did have Mariners baseball though so T and Mama were happy. :)

The next morning we had breakfast and got everyone out of the house for some shopping (one of the main things to do there). At the first store we went in the owner goes around giving “fairy kisses” (glitter stars) to everyone, even the adults. Haha :) The girls wanted a picture of theirs.

It’s so fun how all the architecture is in keeping with the Bavarian theme. The girls were hot so T took them over to get misted.

The flowers there are just gorgeous. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such huge hanging baskets, and the window boxes just overflow.

Mama enjoyed the sights! The town is kind of in a little Valley so the mountains rise up around you. So pretty.

The girls loved the flowers and wanted a picture with these.

In one of the toy stores they insisted on getting their picture taken with this bear. :)

We had lunch at a German Bistro and Uncle K got his favorite German dish. T had an interesting German sandwich. It was basically a melted ham and cheese but it was made with three pieces of French toast (Big Mac style) and had powdered sugar on the outside. Then they brought jam which you were supposed to spread over it. Pretty unusual…but tasty!

All the girls! Good thing T and Uncle K had each other! Haha :)
