First Lake Day!

 We had our first lake day on July 1st! It wasn't super warm...I think about 73, but the kids still went straight in and swam for almost three hours!

It was the first time we were able to pull out the big mat that the family bought them for Christmas and it was a HUGE hit! They spent two and a half hours straight playing with this thing!

 

 

So much fun!

 

 The kayaks were used too, but not as much as the mat. They had a blast with that thing!

 

 

Bug had just gotten back from Kenya a few days before so she was still getting over her jet lag and didn't swim as much. 

 

 

The O family was there with their two girls, the E family with their three kids, and Ms. K and E came too so there were lots of friends to play with. 

 

I had forgotten the sand toys but they made "hot tubs" for themselves to warm up. :)

 

 

What a fun day!! It was the perfect start to lake days...or so we thought. The next day all the girls (except K, who was in the water only briefly) woke up with big red bumps all over their bodies. They looked like large mosquito bites. I texted some of the other moms and all but one of the other kids had them. Swimmer's itch. :{ It was bad. They were SUPER itchy for four days before it finally let up. We mixed up some baking soda and water and they used Q-tips to apply it to their bumps multiple times a day. It was pretty miserable. 

 

I read that it is caused by goose and duck poop sitting in hot stagnant water so because this is a little bay area the water flow isn't significant enough to clear it out. I guess our favorite bay is out of commission for the summer! :(

 

 

Aunts and Cousins!

 Auntie K and little J got to stay at our house. The girls played with him Saturday morning while I made breakfast.

 

He is a such sweet little boy!

 

 

After we all got ready we headed to Noni's for another day of puzzles, games, good food, and visiting!

 

 

And tons of playing!

We love family time!

 

Peanut did some face painting on the kids after lunch.

 

 

 

 And the chickens got the leftovers.

 

 

 

We showed J the garden and how to pick the peas that were ready.

 

 

So cute.

 

 

 

Then we went to see the sheep.

 

 

They have a new baby girl who is so tiny!

 

 

Then we played Bocci ball.

 

 

We brought our set to combine with Noni's so we had 6 teams of 2.

 

 

It was a hard fought game!

 

 

At one point I think all the teams were tied with 2 points. 

 

 

But T ended up winning. He was on his own because Noni was getting dinner made for all of us. She grabbed this picture from the deck where she and Papa were barbecuing a delicious dinner of hamburgers and hot dogs. 

 

 

The next morning we all went to church and then out to lunch before we had to drop K and J off at the airport.

 

 

I'm so thankful we had that time with them!

 

 

And it wasn't too hard to say goodbye knowing that we would see them in Texas in just a couple of weeks!

 

 

So blessed!

Family Visit!

 We had visitors! Aunite K and little J came up from Boise and Aunt K and Aunt J came from Texas! 

This was J's first time meeting Mama. He was a very shy of all of us at first but warmed up really quickly.

 

 

Noni got a picture of the four of us because we were all matching. Abby wanted to be in the picture too. :)

 

 

Then we realized Noni and Peaches were also wearing blue!

 

J loved the chickens and wanted to feed them. 

 

 

So sweet!

 

 

 He also really liked the slide!

 

 

The girls thought he was adorable and mother hen-ed him.

 

 

Within two hours he was giving big squeezes to everyone. So cute!

 

 

 After we picked up Aunt K and Aunt J at the airport we went out to lunch. Noni tried to get a picture but it was super sunny.

 

 

So she went around to the other side of the table. :)

 

 

 

We spent the rest of the day visiting and playing games. The kids played so well together and Lou and Peaches took care of little J so sweetly. 

 

 

 

So wonderful to spend time with family!!
