Izzy hasn’t been feeling very well lately. She is almost ten years old and seems to be slowing down quite a bit. She hasn’t had much of an appetite, but she will always eat when the girls bring her food. Peanut especially likes to feed her. I got this video the other day. I was making lunch (yes, A is still in her pjs) and the door was open so she decided it was time for Izzy to eat too. :) Peanut is really starting to talk! She says new words every day.
So true!

K12 was a big success for us! We really loved the program and enjoyed our year with them! Of course, there were frustrating moments each day, and it wasn’t always pleasant getting K to “buckle down” and “focus!” and “stay on task!”, but that had more to do with moods and personality than with the school. :) I think the K12 format really cut down on those frustrating moments because it is a very engaging program with lots of fun computer games and activities to go with each subject.
We loved the three teachers we worked with! One of our writing class connect sessions was on letter writing so K wrote the teacher a letter and received one back a week later! I was surprised by how much I learned myself through her lessons (or maybe how much I’d forgotten)!
Art was one of the favorites all year. Here are a few things she did…
A “clay” pot.
A bird made only out of paper.
An Ancient Chinese “silk” painting such as would be found in the tomb of royalty or a very wealthy person.
She took this picture of herself in the dark and then ran to me…“Mommy! I made a pointillism picture!”
This is one of our “busy” sheets. Bug really needs to have her hands moving at all times so I would print out sheets like this for her to color while she listened to me read.

And her last. You can see the improvement in spelling, finger spaces, punctuation, capitalization, and content/length.
Science and History were her other two favorite subjects. Here is her human body that we worked on for several weeks. She had several lessons detailing the various systems in the body.
It seemed like ALL year we battled with distraction in the form of these two…
And then in the last two days all of the sudden they would sit quietly and color or play with clay while we worked! :P Hopefully that carries over into next year!
Peanut’s drawings are getting quite meticulous! She makes tiny, little marks in specific spots, as opposed to her previous scribble till you drop method. :)
We did most of our work at the kitchen counter, but Bug usually took her math workbook to the living room for a change of scenery.
Yes, there were hard moments, but overall I was extremely pleased with our year! K12 is an awesome program and we are already registered and looking forward to next year. I highly recommend it!
Peanut is finally big enough for a “big girl” car seat! She had a taste of freedom riding in Noni’s big girl car seat (while our new ones were on order-we gave Boo’s old ones to a friend) and since then she has been miserable in her baby seat! She cries, kicks her sisters, and is just generally unhappy in the car. Our car seat order got cancelled for some reason and we had to re-do it so we were VERY ready for them to get here! Unfortunately the first thing she did was sit in it before T had it together and it fell backwards.
She didn’t cry but was quite bewildered as to why her new “big girl” seat bucked her off. Haha :) She watched intently while Daddy fixed it.
And pointed accusingly at it.
And stared at it in distrusting apprehension.
But she did willingly sit in it again when it was time to try it out.
Although she did NOT look too happy about it.
We all praised her for her new status as a big girl and she started to enjoy it.
So we put it in the pick up and went for a short test drive.
She loved being able to see out the front window and was saying “big girl! seat! big girl!” except that her “big girl” sounded more like booger, “bih-guh!” Haha :)
I think she’s going to love it! And her sisters will love the fact that she can’t kick them anymore! Haha :)

Not officially. We still have our class connect sessions for the next three weeks as school doesn’t end till June 13th, but we’ve been working really hard for the last couple of months and Buggy finished all her lessons and schoolwork last Thursday!!! We had a wonderful year with K12! I’ll have to do a wrap-up post later.
T came home for lunch and we ambushed the girls with silly string when they came out of the house. :)
But then the tables turned!
We took them out to lunch and then let them pick ice cream to celebrate.
Yay for 1st grade!
