"I Larious!" - Part 16

January 15th

The girls got Barnes and Noble gift cards from Uncle J and Aunt H for Christmas. A: "Daddy I have something to tell you. I want a Te purse." Daddy: "Ok. Do you have money to buy that?" A: "Oh yes Daddy. I have a credit card!"

January 16th

I was nearing the end of the pregnancy and taking a nap each day.  We had decided to get everyone out of Pullups and bought a bunch of mattress pads for their beds. Peanut wasn't a big fan of napping so sometimes I would let her lay down with me. This particular day she came running in to the room, "Mommy! I want to take a nap with you! I'll go get my blanket and my lily pad!"

February 14th

We were playing the board game Life. Peanut was so excited. "I'm going this way so I can buy a boy! I get to marry!"

February 16th

We had such an early Spring we were outside weeding the garden. I was pulling away when I heard her say, "Uh, a little help here?"

February 17th

Each Sunday School takes up a little offering each week for their class missionaries. She had two quarters and when she saw Noni she said, "Here Noni! These are for B and L! Take it to Mexico for me!"

February 18th

We saw a neighbor outside. She saw that Boo's tooth was missing and asked Peanut if she was going to start loosing teeth too. Peanut casually replied, "No I have to have more numbers."

Hitting and Pitching

 The other day the girls had an "away" softball game and had a whole crew of fans to watch them play! Noni, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie M, Uncle B, Cousin S, and Cousin E all came!

First we met at Zips and had dinner together, and then it was over to the field. Peanut wanted to wear her dance costume. Why not? It's appropriate ballpark attire, right? Haha :)  

Bug got a big hit to third base! The girl almost caught it, but it dropped and Buggy made it safely to 1st!

 

Peanut climbed up and down the bleachers for most of the game. Noni held Peaches so she could take a nap.

 

Boo got her first hit! She has been doing such a great job! She's not letting it stop her that she is the youngest player on our team...she's going after it! Yay Boo!

I was so glad that the family was all there for this game because it was Bug's first time to pitch! She did a great job! She got several strikes and if it went awry she made adjustments and tried again. So proud of her!

She also did a great job covering home plate and she and the catcher got a girl out using teamwork and quick thinking! 

It started raining about halfway through but they toughed it out and won the game. Go Peaches!

The Angels Are Rejoicing

Luke 15:10 tells us ...there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. And last week they were singing over our precious Peanut when she decided to ask Jesus into her heart! 

We are so happy that she has made this life-changing decision! She had been talking about it the week before but when I asked her if she wanted to ask Jesus into her heart. She said, "Not right now. I'm going to ask Jesus into my heart when the snow comes again." I thought that was interesting but I didn't push her. I said ok and let it drop.

Then a few mornings later we were sitting at the breakfast table and were doing our devotion when she said, "I believe in God!" I was thinking she still wasn't ready so I didn't do anything, but I noticed that she and Bug went into the living room. Bug came to me a few minutes later and said, "Mommy, Peanut asked Jesus into her heart! I helped her!" I guess Bug questioned her like I had done, and then helped her pray. She told me that she helped Peanut ask God to forgive her of her sins and come into her heart. So wonderful!

I took Peanut into my room to double check that she understood everything.

1) that she sins, Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"

 2) that her sin separates her from God, Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

3) that Jesus died to pay the price for her sins, Second Corinthians 5:21 says, "He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we may be made the righteousness of God through Him."

4) and that He rose again for her, and all she has to do is believe and confess. Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Such a simple process that even a child can understand it. Simple, but not easy. It's hard to give it over to God and give Him the control. I think it's probably much easier to come to Him as a child...before we develop the habits of doing things our own way. I showed her Romans 10:9 in the bible we prayed again and thanked God for coming into her heart.

 Then we had to call Daddy, Noni, Mama, and Grandma and tell them the good news! We had plans to spend the day at home doing laundry and cleaning house, but after such a momentous decision we couldn't just sit around! Daddy had board meeting and couldn't have lunch so we headed in to town and took lunch to Noni and Papa's and spent the day with them. It was a wonderful way to celebrate Peanut's first re-birthday!

We love you precious girl! And we are so thankful that you have made this decision - the most important decision of your life! I pray that from this day forward you will grow mighty and strong in your faith and may He always be first and foremost in your heart and in your life! Hold fast to Jesus baby girl and you will never go wrong!

Leftover Thursday

 I don't think I've showed these pictures before...scroll past if I have. :) 

This was the project Mom and I worked on during our church work day. We turned an old yucky room, nicknamed the "dungeon" into a beautiful Prayer Room! We painted it a few weeks before and spent the work day with my Cricut. It took a long time to cut out all the letters and stick them on, but we were really happy with how it turned out!

 

This is what took so long! I found a similar thing on Pinterest and we chose our own scripture.

 

I had to stop and feed the baby a few times, but we finished! Bug and Boo were off running around the church all day. Papa was painting and Daddy was coordinating (he is a Trustee again). Peanut played with the other kids a few times, but for the most part hung out with Noni, Peaches, and I.

Bug and Boo came up from playing with Legos the other day so excited to show me their quints they had made. :)

Wordless Wednesday

School's OUT...

 ...for the SUMMER! 

Whew! I'm not gonna lie, this year has been rough! Between being pregnant for the first half of the year and practically bed ridden for the last two months of the pregnancy, and then having a newborn for this last half of the year I was so ready to be DONE! 

I had to take a picture of the crayon box the other day because it was the perfect metaphor for how I felt. At the beginning of the year it was crisp and clean, all the perfectly pointed crayons were lined up in a row. By the end of the year it had tattered, crumpled edges, 1/3 of the crayons were missing, and the ones that were there were used, broken, and peeling. Haha :) 

I definitely feel like the girls got the short end of the stick this year. No field trips, no fun crafts or extended lessons. I was hanging on by the skin of my teeth and doing the minimum amount. :{ I guess that's how life goes sometime. I hope to make up for it next year! We started 10 days early last fall and tried to do at least one extra subject a day so even with taking 2 weeks off when Peaches was born we did still manage to finish early - for which I am very thankful! 

Here are a few of Boo's cutest assignments this year...

Sorry Karen, I was supposed to tear this out and mail it to you and apparently never did. It says, "To my friend Karen, On my birthday my sis was born. I opened presents in the the hospital. I had 4 extra hours of my birthday because my sis was born late. I stayed up till midnight. From S." :)

Another one I was supposed to tear out...this one says, "To Noni. Thank you for my birthday presents. I like the clothes. I love my necklace. Thank you for coming to my birthday party. I went to Build-A-Bear. Love, S

 Boo did a wonderful job this year! Unfortunately she really didn't learn a lot of new information...she pretty much knew everything they taught...but she did have a lot of reinforcement and has become a much more fluent reader.

Boo is my little sweetie pie. She very rarely has a bad attitude. She almost always did her work happily without a lot of re-direction. She was a great little student and I'm looking forward to a hopefully more scholastically-challenging year next year.

 

On to 1st grade!!!

Buggy has made huge strides in her ability to focus and stay on task! That being said we still had many days like this...

Lol! 

I can honestly say that we had more good days than bad this year though. She is maturing at her own pace and we're getting better about directing all that energy. 3rd grade was the most hands-off yet for me, as the Learning Coach. She could do almost all the subjects on her own, though I did try to be there as much as possible. 

Some days it was like pulling teeth to make it through her daily lessons, and other days she was up way before the rest of the family, snuck downstairs, got on the computer, and was 75% done with her day's work before the rest of us even started stirring! If only I could bottle that enthusiasm and pull it out when I needed it!

Buggy loves holding the baby while she works! Peaches doesn't look too impressed. :)

The girls worked really hard the last few weeks to get done! We finished up our units on Space (for Science) and The American Revolution (for History) and took Semester Assessments in all the subjects and then we were DONE!

Yippee! Here we come 4th grade!

Daddy was out of town for the day, but we wanted to celebrate so we walked down to get some lunch and ice cream!

My little sidekick. It was definitely hard for her this year without Boo to play with! She would do great with workbooks or puzzles for a hour or so, but then get bored (aka: loud!) and I would have to ask her to go play on her own. Some days she would play happily by herself for hours and other days were a constant battle. Next year she'll be going to Preschool so I'm looking forward to three quieter mornings each week...although by then I'm sure Peaches will have started her own ways of distracting. Haha :)

 

 Overall I can say we had a good year, and we're still very happy with the K12 program. The girls had great teachers who were very sweet and helpful. They were also very understanding when we had to take some time off for the baby - not just the birth but doctor's appointments and such. I'm still very impressed with the K12 curriculum. I feel like our girls are getting a great education...I, myself, learn something new everyday! 

Yes, it's not easy to homeschool two with two little ones in the house, but I still think it is totally worth it. This is what I'm called to do right now, and I will continue to do it to the best of my ability until God tells me otherwise. And even though my girls can drive me crazy faster than I can blink, I am so thankful that I get to stay home with them and we can spend our days together. I wouldn't miss this extra time with them for anything! I love my crazies to pieces!

 

 That being said, I am so glad we're done! Bring on SUMMER!
