Dance

The girls are SO excited for dance this year!  A new dance school has opened in town, as their other one closed.  The new one is run by two ladies, one of whom is my friend and Zumba teacher, and the girls already know and love her so making the switch wasn’t a problem.

We did have a hard time deciding whether to put them in ballet/hip hop or tap/jazz and eventually decided to give both a try for this year.  I am a little worried that it might be too much, but so far it has been working out just fine and it completely takes care of K’s PE requirements for school.  They want a record of 100 minutes of physical activity logged each week and just between the two dance classes she has 120 minutes.

Here’s Boo on the first day of ballet/hip hop.

She has the biggest class.  I think I counted 15 little ballerinas!

Sweet girl!

Another fun part of small town living, I think we already knew all but one of the other girls in her class.

dance3

Here she is practicing her leap.  Pretty good form!

dance4

Their classes are back to back so I only have to drive to the dance studio three times each of the two days.

Sisters!

Bug has issues with leotards, but thankfully there is a relaxed dress code and they can wear any type of clothes that allow them to dance.

dance6

Boo is first on ballet days and Bug is first on tap days.

Here’s Bug ready to tap!

Friends!

And Boo ready to tap it up.

The new dance school is very organized and they already have recital costumes ordered and are working on their routines. We are so excited for a fun year of dance!

Pool Party

Whew, I can’t seem to get caught up on my blogging.  These are from a couple of weekends ago.  The girls got invited to a birthday party.  First they got to swim for an hour.  They had a blast of course.

And then we walked across the street to the park where they played and ran and played some more before finally settling down to eat some cake.

Check out this cake my friend B made!!  I was so impressed!

party1

After cake and ice cream it was present time!

party2

The girls chose a set of Frozen dolls.  The birthday girl approved their choice. :)

party3

After more playing they beat a piƱata.  Here’s Boo taking a whack at it.

party4

I didn’t get a picture of Bug hitting it because she was too quick and split the thing wide open.

What a fun birthday party!

A Show

The girls put on a Tangled Dancing Show for me the other afternoon.  They found the costumes and practiced and this was the result. :)

Love these funny kiddos!

First Days!

Bug and Boo actually had different first days.  Bug and I started on Tuesday, the 2nd, and Boo’s first day of Preschool was Wednesday the 3rd.  Bonus treats!  On Buggy’s first day we went out to Mexican food for lunch, and we let them order a dessert…something we’ve never done. They chose a chimichanga de manzana.  It was as much fun to say as to eat. :)

While those pictures yesterday were indeed taken on the first day we actually didn’t make it out of our pajamas till noon…the perks of homeschool!  Haha :)

1stday

Cocoa made an interesting addition to our school day.

1stday1

Between potty breaks for the toddler and dog we were stopping every 30ish minutes, but we still managed to get all our work done by lunch.

We also had to have a break for the introduction of the two littlest family members.

1stday2

Cocoa loved Lottie…Lottie didn’t seem to return the affection. :)

Bug and I had a great first day.  She was a little antsy and wanting to go play but she managed to buckle down and get her work done.  We did mostly review the first week, so it was nice to start off light.

On Wednesday we all got up early and I made monkey bread (one of Boo’s favorites).  Then we walked her to school.  It had rained that morning, but was drying up by the time we left.

Buggy stylin’ in her winter boots. :)

1stday5

I kept saying “Turn around” to Bug so I could get a pic of them all walking, but after some confusion the other three turned around instead so I just took another picture.  Haha :)

1stday6

Cutie Boo.

1stday7

We had to get a few pics with our big girl on her first day!

1stday8

Friends!  I think part of the reason Boo did so well was that I told her that her little friend S (below) might be scared on her first day so she needed to help her.  Boo took her role seriously and mothered S into the classroom. :)

1stday9

Sisters!

1stday10

Boo went right in, took her shoes off, hung up her backpack, and started playing.  No hesitation.  She didn’t even notice when we were leaving and I had to go over and hug her goodbye.  She barely glanced in my direction.

1stday11

Bug and I went home and got through our schoolwork and then we picked up the big girls from their first day.  We walked with our friends down to have a celebratory lunch and ice cream.

1stday3

I thought this was cute as they skipped down the sidewalk holding hands. :)

1stday4

Cotton candy/birthday cake!  Nice 1st day mix! :)

1stday5

Strawberry cheesecake. Too bad this turned out blurry.

1stday6

Silly girl with her huckleberry and rainbow sherbet.

1stday7

What a perfect first couple of days!
