Camp!

Our home away from home for 9 days! Our cabin is the one on the left. My mom’s cousin’s cabin is the one on the right and the one in the middle is the new cabin our cousin built! Both his daughters come every year and now that they are married and having kids they were outgrowing their cabin. The new cabin actually has air conditioning! A luxury at camp! Haha :)

Aunt Karen had really put a lot of time and effort into our cabin and had it so clean and looking great by the time we arrived! She has accumulated quite the collection of rugs so by the time they are all laid down on top of the concrete floor it’s basically like having carpet! She also has a collection of toys and books at the cabin. The girls were thrilled!

We went a few days early so we could enjoy the peace and quiet before the masses came and so we could spend time with Pawpaw and Nana who came out for a few days! It was so sweet of them to come and save us the extra 10 hours of driving it would have taken to go all the way to the ranch! The girls loved entertaining them, haha. :)

One thing Texas is great for…BUGS! Bugs, bugs, bugs, EVERYWHERE! The girls spent hours and hours hunting grasshoppers and crickets! Later in the week they actually managed to catch a couple lizards! I was impressed because those things are FAST!

Thankfully they didn’t find any snakes!

We enjoyed exploring before everyone got there.

Camp is famous for bug hunting and rock climbing and the girls did plenty of both!  

Peanut spent the week collecting the acorns that were everywhere. She loved them! She called them a-crons.

The mountains around here were once active volcanoes that left huge piles of rocks behind. They are perfect for climbing.

The girls did great on them and never fell even though there were many opportunities to do so!

Even Peanut did a great job!

We took Boo in to check out the area that she would play at during day-camp.

Peanut was the one who didn’t handle the heat as well this time. Maybe it’s just that younger kids can’t regulate their heat as well? Her face was constantly flushed, but she was happy anyway.

Bug was our first set of scraped knees. The weird thing is she wasn’t even running. We were just walking and playing “step on each other’s shadows” and she kind of plopped down to her knees. This picture doesn’t look too bad but she had all kinds of gravel bits and dirt ground into her knees. You can tell she was NOT happy about it!

The girls got so dirty every day! And loved every minute! Peanut got her first bath experience in a galvanized tub. She thought it was great! :)
