Noni went for a walk every morning. Sometimes Boo and/or I went with her.
She had been following the church Calvary Chapel and keeping up with what happened to them after the Maui fires. They actually didn't lose their building but it is in an area where there was lots of burning so they aren't able to use it right now. They've been meeting on the beach since August so on Sunday morning we set out to find them. That was easier said than done. We noticed several times on the trip that our Google maps didn't work as well as it does on the mainland, but we did find them eventually and were only a few minutes late.
It was so sad to hear them talk about the fires. It was like it just happened a few weeks ago instead of 4 months ago. It really devastated their area and they did lose a few of their church members. :'( They were very sweet though and it was encouraging to hear how they keep on pressing on.
There were sea turtles swimming right behind the Pastor the whole service. It's funny how easy it is to get into your regular church rut and think everyone out there is doing the same. It was good to shake up my usual church view and get a broader perspective on how different church can be, and how we could be in such a far away place, but get that gentle reminder that God is the same everywhere. Because of His omnipresence we can worship Him anywhere whether it's in our little country church or on the beaches of Maui.
He is everywhere. He is the same. He is everlasting.
Lou said we were "matching" because the colors in our dress were similar. :)
After church we went and found a park where we could eat our picnic lunch.
They had some incredible trees there!
It was really nice that our condo had a cooler! We used it multiple times to take picnics to various places.
Tomorrow: Blowhole Park!
