Orthdontics!

 The time has come. We've known that Boo would need braces for a long time now. Sucking your thumb til you are six will do that to you. :P We finally decided to bite the bullet...haha, and I scheduled both her and Bug for an orthodontist appointment. 

Bug only has a couple of slightly crooked teeth, but we thought it was a good idea to take care of them now. We had our consultation appointment and after much deliberation decided to go with Invisalign. Since you can take them in and out there aren't any foods you have to avoid, and with the special they were running they actually ended up being a little bit cheaper than traditional braces. Boo will have to wear hers for about 18 months and Bug for 9-12.

I thought they would make a mold of their teeth, but when we went in for that appointment they had a cool wand thing that allowed them to take a 3D electronic mold. It was pretty neat! We also really like the orthodontist we chose. They are all really nice and the girls have cards that they can earn points for things like wearing the shirt, brushing teeth, even getting good grades, and when they get enough points they can get a gift card to a place of their choosing!

Another great thing about Invisalign is fewer appointments, which is good since the place is about an hour and five minutes from our house.

 

  Noni has offered to watch the little ones when we go to appointments which is SO nice and helpful! They got to make Play Doh!

The trays took a couple of weeks to come in and then we went in to get them fitted. I didn't realized exactly how it worked I guess and was surprised to learn that Boo has dozens and dozens of trays at the office. They gave her a six week supply...she changes them every week for a new one. 

 

 

 

Bug got the little bumps put onto her teeth to hold the trays on more firmly Boo will get that part done in a couple of weeks. She is doing the first 6 weeks without them..maybe because her teeth have a lot farther to move.  Bug has enough trays for 14 weeks so she doesn't have to be seen until March.

 

The cool part is that you really can't even see them! They only take them out to eat, and then brush their teeth before they put them back in. We are excited to see the progress over the next few months!
