Once again Noni shared some butterflies with us! We usually get them in the chrysalis stage but this time we got to watch the whole process!
I wish I had gotten a picture when we first got them. They were tiny little black caterpillars, no thicker than a mechanical pencil lead and about 1/4 of an inch long. They were so fun to watch as they munch munch munched on their food and got fatter and fatter. Then they finally crawled up to the top and formed into the chrysalis. So interesting!
We also were able to catch one just as it hatched and watched it’s wings slowly unfurl.
Daddy helped the girls release them after a few days.

Peanut wasn’t quite as gentle, but hers managed to survive. :)
One had a little piece missing out of it’s wing. T put it into a flower basket. We are hoping he managed to fly away.
