Happy Baptism Boo Bear!

 Boo really wanted to get baptized last year but we ended up not having a service down at the lake because of all the fires so when Pastor first mentioned a baptism service this year she started asking if she could do it. 

A few weeks ago we left the other three with Noni and took her out to dinner. She chose Chinese food and while we ate we talked with her. After some good discussion we felt that she was ready! 

Our church actually had two baptism services this year...one down at the lake during the church campout and then a second when we borrowed a portable baptistry for a service at church. Boo chose to wait for the church service so Grandma, Grandpa, and Mama could attend.

After the service she changed quickly. I loved how excited she was about it!

Anyone wanting to get baptized has to be able to stand in front of everyone and give their testimony. She had been practicing and did a great job!

Daddy got to be the one to baptize her. :)

 

This website has a good explanation of baptism, but the gist is that it symbolizes Jesus death, burial (underwater), and resurrection.  

We believe that while baptism is not necessary to be a Christian, it IS a way to show the world that you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and you have asked Him to forgive your sins and come into your heart.  

I think Romans 6:4 best explains it: We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 

For us it is a symbolic way of aligning one’s life with the will of God.

We are so incredibly proud of this sweet girl! She has chosen to follow Jesus...the most important decision she will ever make.

We went back to the house and had a "taco bar" as requested by the special girl. :)

She started crying so Noni took pity on her and got her out and helped her practice her walking.

Which she loves to do!

 

We got to spend some time visiting with the family before everyone had to go their separate ways. 

We had chocolate cake and gave Boo a cross necklace to help signify her special day. 

We are so proud of this sweet girl!
