Dance Recital

Bug’s first dance recital was Saturday!  It was too fun.  We loved watching all the girls up there dancing, especially since we knew about half the girls in each group. 

The recital was held in an old opera house that was built in the early 1900’s.  It was a really neat old building and it was completely packed.  The dancers were supposed to be there at 4:45 (the show started at 5:30).  We got there at 4:40 thinking we would save a place and the only place open was the very back row on one side.  They put up another few rows of chairs and there were still people lining the walls standing up.  It was quite a hit.

K is in the youngest dance group and they did a ballet to Away in a Manger.  They got to bring a small stuffed animal or doll to be baby Jesus so Koala was able to make his dancing debut as well. :)

Then they did a tap dance to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.  That was adorable too…pretty much just a bunch of hopping around as they tried to figure out their next moves.

I think K and her friend, S, and one other girl were the only three who were actually doing the routine, but at this age it’s so cute nobody cares whether they are doing the right moves or not. :)

Here’s a little video of the ballet.  K is in the middle, back row.  I thought it would be easy to spot her since she and S are the only two brunettes in a group of about 15 girls but the lighting wasn’t the best for my camera so you can’t really tell.

And the end of the tap dance…which was hilarious because they were supposed to get in a “conga line” and wave as they went off the stage but they got confused and made several groups going in different directions.  It was really funny.

After the show we all (Grandma, Grandpa, Noni, Papa, and Mama) came back to the house and celebrated Bug’s dancing debut with pizza, salad, and fruit.

What a great start to the Christmas season!
