Rehearsals!

 After months and months...January through May...of rehearsals, it was finally time to put on a show! These kids (and a few adults) worked SO incredibly hard to prepare for this play! They started with one hour rehearsals, twice a week, and quickly moved to two hours rehearsals twice a week, then a three hour and a two hour, and then the last few weeks, three hours three times a week. 

Peanut was thrilled to receive the lead female role this year as the Pirate Queen! I knew she would do an incredible job and I was right!  

 

 

Usually I just waited in the car for them to finish practicing, but the last few times I went in and saw the last few minutes of rehearsals. 

 

 

They have so much fun hanging out with their friends! The hard work becomes fun when you're with your buddies! 

 

 

The last few days they started testing out costumes during rehearsals. Peanut found her pirate skirt at Goodwill, the hat was Daddy's from his role as Long John Silver a few years ago, and the pirate shirt and corset came from Amazon. 

 

 

She got to use a real fencing sword that the director's family had. They said they trusted her not to abuse it, unlike all the teenage boys who had sword fights any spare second they could find, haha. 

 

 

Peaches landed a role as Parrot...a girl who thinks she is a parrot. She got a cardboard sword borrowed from the church. :) 

 

 

She wanted to take a picture of us while we waited for Peanut to wrap up her scene. 

 

 

This was one of the last rehearsals so they were practicing their bows. 

 

 

After months of anticipation the big day finally arrived! We had to be there at 1PM so we finished school quickly that day, rushed over to the school to pick up Peanut and A and then were on to the local highschool to get into costumes, hair, and makeup. 

 

 

Daddy was the mic guy again. He would come get all the kids wired and then let the high school sound people take it from there. 

 

 

I love that they get this awesome experience in our small town! 

 

 

I also love how Ms. D gives God the glory and has them all pray together before the show starts!
