The play started out with the Lord Roger talking to his manservant about how he was going to propose to Lady Sarah. Then they hid behind the bushes to listen as she and her two friends came in to the "garden" to talk.
Sarah tells her two friends that she doesn't want to live the life of a lady, doing nothing but tea time and embroidery.
She says she wants a life of adventure and excitement like she reads about in pirate novels and shows them a "broadside" of the famous Pirate Bluebeard.
Peanut did a fabulous job!
So dramatic!
Her line here was, "I want a man like this: dashing, daring, ready to face danger with a sword in hand!"
Then her father comes into the garden talking about how the dread pirate is ransacking all his cargo ships. Her father was played by our good friend from church Mr. K.
He tells Sarah he is going off to sea to personally see to the capture of the notorious criminal.
After they all exit Lord Roger and George came out of hiding and talk about how if Lady Sarah wants a pirate they'll give her a pirate!
This was our first year with scene changes...and not just one but FOUR! The kids did a great job changing them and got faster each time.
The next scene was Roger and George interviewing for their pirate crew which was 6 misfits including Peaches and her "siblings" Claude and Maude.
Peaches was so cute as Parrot and did a great job!
Most of her lines were copying people, as a parrot would.
When she was introduced to the Captain she stepped forward and said, "Squawk!"and Roger told George, "I don't want anyone who speaks French!" Haha.
They decided to set forth with their crew.
But before they did George brought out Long John Sliver (not Silver) to be Rogers pirate tutor. He agreed to go with them if they would sail to the Caribbean to help him retrieve the 9 chests of gold doubloons he had buried 10 years prior.
The next scene was the Pirate Queen and her crew of girls on their ship. They had captured a British officer and had a funny scene about feeding her to the "sharks" but Peanut said, "Don't worry, they're only dolphins!" as she pushed her off the gangplank and the set went dark.
