Three years ago we were talking about how it would be fun to get the family (my side) together for a reunion. At the time some of the cousins were still finishing up schooling and not yet established in their career choices. We figured once things settled down we would be able to pull it off and Mama's 90th birthday became our long term goal! The three years went quick! Since we have a lot of teachers in the family summer works best for most of us. I don't know that we have ever been able to gather this many of us at the same time...usually one person or another can't get the time off...so we were extra excited for the chance to be together! Aunt K came on July 2nd, Uncle S and Aunt J on the 3rd, and the Florida clan got in on the 4th.
We had a big BBQ for the 4th and decorated Noni's deck with some colorful streamers. :)
The girls wanted to have their "fair" so they set up a couple of different areas: face painting, water balloon toss, etc.
We had so much fun visiting and just hanging out together!
The little ones loved seeing their cousins again!
We had found a face painting kit which was a good idea, but it was hard to get wiggly little ones to sit still. Haha.
The water balloon relay went better and everyone had fun filling the buckets!
Auntie K and Mama cheered on the athletes from the safety of the golf cart. :)
Then it was a water balloon toss. I can't remember who won.
A couple of stars was all this busy girl would sit still for!
Then it was time for the water balloon fight! We bought a huge pack of the instant fill balloons from Costco and I think they had just as much fun filling them up as they did throwing them!
Bug threw a balloon and hit the line above Aunt K's head and showered her while she was trying to take pictures. Apparently she has no respect for the journalists because she then threw one at me soaking my phone. :P
After the fight there was some more face painting.
The kids picked some veggies from Noni's awesome garden.
And then it was time to eat! Uncle K was the grill master! With Peanut as a sidekick. :)
The girls and I made a flag cake and when we were doing the VBS sugar cookies we made an extra batch to use for 4 and star shapes.
It was so fun to see all the kids playing together!

I don't think I've been with Uncle S on the 4th of July since my wedding! Apparently he does a hot dog eating contest...not timed or anything he just likes to eat a bunch of hot dogs. Haha. He used to do it with his dad and brother. :) Bug decided to do it with him. I think she ate four, and he did 10!

We had to gather everyone for a big group picture! It actually wasn't too painful to get all the kids to be still and smile. Haha. I thought the picture turned out great!
