An Addition!

We have a kitchen addition! Once the walls were poured it was really fun to see how fast it went up! T loves framing because it is such a quick and visual process. In a span of just 4 days we went from having concrete walls to having an addition (minus the roof). Here's what it looked like after we got all the forms off and everything cleaned up.

There were big ditches all around the walls on both sides. Boo was the only one who fell in. Apparently her shoelace caught on some rebar that was still sticking up. She went head first into the ditch and scraped up the side of her leg on the form separators.

 

One of our (future) neighbors came over one night with his tractor and back filled all the dirt for us so we could get started on building. SO nice! 

The girls ate their dinner and then we let them watch a movie in the car so they wouldn't get in the way of the tractor. Boo and Peanut love to "relax" in between the wheel hubs. Funny girls.

  

 This night Peanut couldn't find her shoes so she had one of her bad flip flops and one of Boo's. Haha.

 

The next night Daddy and Peanut got the kick (?) plates up while the rest of the girls and I were at worship team practice. 

And Saturday morning we all headed out early to start working on the floor! Breakfast of champions...donuts and bananas. :P

Here we go!

Peaches has been really into swinging lately so I took one of our baby swings out and hung it in the tree for her.

She loved it and it kept her occupied for a long time that day!

Since then not so much...unless someone stands there and pushes her which kind of defeats the purpose. :P

 

The girls were able to help with the floor and did a good job pulling the plastic through 

I worked on cutting and putting in the insulation while they worked on the boards. We made it to the end before lunch when Grandma and Grandpa arrived.

I took Peaches home for a nap and when I got back we had a floor! The girls were having a ball crawling through the vent holes and underneath the floor. It was wet, dark, and no more than 3/4 feet high in there, but they loved it! 

Then on Sunday after church Grandma and Grandpa went out to the Farmhouse and Grandpa tore down the existing exterior wall while T and I were showing our current house to a couple. She is a nurse that works with him at the hospital and heard we were moving. They loved the house and are ready to move forward! Yipee! We didn't even have to list it! 

After we got done showing them the house we headed out and it was time for the walls to start going up!

Half of this addition is kitchen (which has these two windows), and the other half is pantry and mudroom.

As soon as all the walls were up they were able to start sheeting.

 

And we were able to get enough of it sheeted that the wild animals couldn't get in and spend the night. Except for the birds. Those are coming in all over the place...and leaving evidence all over the floor. :P

Next up was the ceiling. Noni took the girls to spend the night (for Memorial Day) so that T and I could spend Monday getting it up.

Once the ceiling was complete...

...we were able to get the rest sheeted.

Yay! We have an addition! With a really big skylight. Haha!

It's amazing how much bigger that 8 ft. makes it feel!

Next up...getting a roof!
