The night before my surgery we went out to dinner with our good friends who are moving to Montana. Noni and Papa watched all four of our girls plus their two boys! We had a nice dinner out and then our family all stayed the night at Noni and Papa's. I pumped Peaches a bottle the next morning at 5:30AM. and then T and I headed to the hospital.
I could definitely tell people were praying for me because I hate hospitals and am pretty squeamish, but I was not a single bit nervous. I felt totally calm and ready to get things done and over with. They got me all prepped and then let T come back while I waited to go in to the operating room. He was making me laugh and then took a picture of me. :P
I felt like I could NOT wake up after the surgery! I wanted to open my eyes, but just couldn't keep them open. We ended up staying several hours longer than we thought we would. I was really dizzy and nauseous but eventually felt well enough to be discharged. We headed home.
I feel like the next few days were a bit of a blur. I actually healed really well/quickly from the surgery but I had a cold that turned into a nasty cough. Stitches and three stomach incisions don't mix very well. I actually busted open one of the stitches during a coughing fit.
Noni sent me pictures of the girls...fishing!
They went to Pumpkin bingo at her school that Friday night.
Costume parade!
Buggy actually won the costume contest! Yay Buggy! She helped Noni and I make her costume. :)
Trying to get a bingo!
I sure did miss this sweet angel while I was away from her! I was worried about her going back and forth between nursing and the bottle but she actually did really well! Noni said she chewed on the bottle more than sucked, but the milk went down.
T went in and picked her up and brought her to me on Saturday night. The doctor had recommended waiting 24 hours before feeding her to let all the anesthesia get out of my system. I was happy to have my baby back!
On Saturday morning we heard a knock on the door...it was Auntie Nae! She drove 2 hours to come stay with us and help us out! SO sweet! We were having some plumbing issues and she helped T try to get it fixed.
The next day Grandma and Grandpa came over after church and Grandpa and T cut out a section of pipe that was plugged and fixed it all up. It was quite a mess and a big project, but we (fingers crossed) shouldn't have any more plumbing issues!
While they were working away on the house Grandma helped me with Peaches. I wasn't supposed to lift her for 3-4 days so Grandma changed her diaper and brought her to me when she needed to eat. So nice to have her help!
Noni and Papa brought the girls over to see us after church but then took them home again for one more night.
Harvesting Noni's carrots.
Learning how to play chess with Papa!
Climbing Noni's tree! Where's Bug?
Can you find Boo?
On Monday Noni brought the girls back in time for dance and then spent the entire week with us! She was a HUGE help! She took the girls back and forth to dance, helped with their schoolwork, totally took care of Peaches since I couldn't carry her, did laundry, made meals, and cleaned out the entire breezeway...which was a MASSIVE project! We were so very thankful for her help!!!
Friday I went back to the doctor and got the stitches removed. The one in my belly button (where the camera went in) hurt the most. :{ While I was there Peaches pulled herself up on her knees!
It definitely wasn't fun having the surgery, but I am so glad that it's out and done with! I'm already feeling almost back to normal. We so thankful for our sweet church friends who brought meals for 5 days, and for the help from Auntie Nae, Grandma, and Noni. We are so blessed!
I'm so glad you came through surgery well and you're feeling better! I can't imagine coughing with stitches.. that must have been horrible :( I recently dealt with some bronchitis for four weeks and was coughing for so long I eventually pulled a muscle over my ribs.. having to deal with stitches must be much worse!
ReplyDeleteAnd hey, we have that fishing game at our house too! Though the kids don't even use it as a game anymore.. they just like to pretend to fish :)
