Harvest

We have some good friends who are farmers and they let us come out the other day and give K a real farm experience. Our first order of business was riding out to the field in a grain truck. I believe "Whoa, it's bumpy!" was her first statement. :)

It was so fun to be part of a harvest...if only for an evening. It definitely took me back to our high school days when I would spend many days in the summer just riding around with T in his combine. The only days we ever got to go do something was if it was raining which didn't happen too often.

K was pretty excited to ride in the combine. They probably seem enormous to her little eyes!

She got a lesson on how to harvest wheat. She took this picture from inside the cab.

And she took this one too of the grain coming out of the auger (sp?).

Daddy even got her carseat and put it into one of the grain trucks and we got to ride to town to the elevators and watch the unloading of the grain. It was a great experience for her to have. Farming was such an integral part of T's growing up years that we want to make sure she has some of those same experiences. This was a great start!
