After we got home from Noni and Papa's thanksgiving bonfire we put Lou down for a nap and started clearing out the Fall decorations to make room for Christmas! We got the tree up and all the other decorations, and then put the ornaments on later that night. Pictures from that later.
We took a time out from decorating to have a family Zoom. It's always so nice to see these sweet faces that I love so much!! It makes them feel a little less far away.
We had a Thanksgiving dinner of leftover ham sandwiches from Lou's birthday (haha), and these yummy individual coconut cream pies Noni made and sent home for us!
T had taken Wednesday off and we had gotten a huge jump on the Sheetrock, we worked really hard and stayed up late so we could take all of Thanksgiving off. Then on Friday we were right back to it.
I'm pretty sure I have "arrived". Lol. I stuck our 14 pound turkey in the crockpot on Friday morning, and the girls literally did the rest! Bug made a chocolate cream, apple, and pumpkin pie. Boo made a pecan pie, and then each of them took a side dish to prepare. Bug made the stuffing, Peanut made the green bean casserole, and Boo did the yams and rolls. These girls are amazing!!!
I completely forgot that I had bought Lou this shirt...I was so glad I found in on Thanksgiving night and she could wear in the next day.
Daddy, Grandpa, and I hung Sheetrock all day and when we came in there was a beautiful Thanksgiving feast prepared for us! And everything was delicious! Way to go girls!!
Lou enjoyed the turkey, the marshmallows on top of the yams, and the pumpkin pie. Haha.
An unexpected benefit of being so busy with the house is I've had to give a lot of extra responsibility with the cooking to the girls and they've risen to the occasion beautifully. I'm a self-admitted perfectionist. It's hard for me to give up that control so it's been really good for me to be forced to do so! And good for them to learn these important life skills.
On Saturday we had two teenage boys from church come over to help out with the Sheetrock. It was a busy and crazy day so Noni sweetly agreed to take the two little ones for me. I threw some taco soup into the crockpot and then Grandma and I went and dropped off the three big girls at the gazebo. Then we met up with two of my friends to patronize a few of the local shops for small business Saturday.
I can't remember the last time I got to go shopping with friends, and even though it was only about an hour it was such a fun time! We went back to the gazebo where the girls had finished decorating and were on to singing carols for passersby.

We went home and since Noni still had the little ones I was able to get back to Sheetrocking. The night before T and I had the sudden inspiration to have the boys help him and Grandpa do the garage instead of the upstairs, since we were having no trouble with that. They ended up doing the entire garage!! Our friend Dr. T came over for the afternoon and helped them too, so nice!! And I was able to Sheetrock all the closets, and move on to some bigger pieces upstairs. I stayed up there for almost 4 hours just listening to Odyssey on my phone and working in the quiet. It was lovely. :) Thank you Noni for watching the little ones for us! I'll show pictures of the Sheetrock soon.
