Leftover Thursday

 The little ones have been wanting to have a sleepover in the playhouse all summer so before school started we finally made it happen. They had to come in to go to the bathroom at about midnight and Jax also started barking at about 3 in the morning since we had left him outside for them. We were tired the next day but they were happy that they got to do it. :)

 

 

Bug and I got to help Noni repaint her house! It hadn't been painted since they moved in 20+ years ago!

We got it all done in about 5 hours! I thought it would take more than one day, but the three of us worked fast and got it done! It looks so fresh and pretty! 

 

 

 

I was very impressed with how much mess Peaches made when she dropped an empty plate! She had eaten all her pancake cereal and was going to get more. The only thing left was a few smears of whipped cream, but somehow that made this splatter! Thankfully Jax put himself on clean up duty. Haha. 

 

 

The girls had drawn pictures for Grandma S (from church) and mailed them to her when she was home sick for a couple weeks. When she made it back to worship team she was so happy to see them and gave them $5 to go get an ice cream so I took them on the way home. We took this picture and sent it to her. :)

Wordless Wednesday

 

Savannah Bananas!!

Daddy and Peanut got to go see the Savannah Bananas!! If you haven't heard of them it's kind of like the Harlem Globe Trotters, but for baseball. They are pretty awesome! T said it was a non stop baseball game, circus, and concert all rolled into one! 

They are so popular that you can't even buy tickets to their games. You have to enter a lottery to be chosen to buy tickets. T has entered before but has never won, but a few weeks ago Uncle B called and said he'd won and had two extra tickets! The big girls all wanted to go but Bug had to work and Boo had a volleyball game that day so Peanut was the winner!

T got this picture of her walking by the sign of everyone's favorite player. :) 

 

 

They got to the park almost five hours early so they could see all the pregame activities! Peanut came down with a cold the day before they left so she was dragging a bit, but T said she perked up for cotton candy. :)

 

 

 

It looked fun, but these crowds are enough of a deterrent for me! They stadium was sold out! 47,000 people!! That's crazy!

 

 

 

They had incredible seats!

 

 

 

It sounds like it was an amazing experience. They said every second was packed with action. Outfielders doing backflips before catching the ball, a girl getting proposed to during one of the between-inning games, people throwing bananas from the top deck into the pants of a guy on the field, and a surprise performance by Train (the band that sings Hey Soul Sister) were just a few of the stories we heard. They said it was two hours of non-stop good, clean, silly fun! T wants us all to go sometime. 

 

They didn't make it back to their hotel until after 11PM so they were tired the next day. They found a bakery and got donuts and then did some shopping before heading home. 

 

 They got to go to one of the girls' favorite stores...IKEA! 

 

 

What a fun trip! I'm so glad they got to go together!  

Little Garage

 I was creating our family scrapbook and realized that I never posted these pictures about the little garage remodel! Back in January when we were talking about what needed to get done before the graduation party I asked if it was possible to redo the old garage. It's been on the list for years, but has never been a priority. T kindly postponed his work on the shop to get it done. 

The first job was pulling off the multicolored roof. The roof had leaked badly (because parts of it had blown away in the wind before we bought the place) so we had just thrown up some extra tin that was lying around to keep the water out, knowing we would eventually tackle the whole thing. Boo helped T pull it off one weekend.

Then a couple weekends were spent pulling the deck off, then the wooden supports, and then it was finally time to pull the trusses. It would have been nice to keep them, but lots were rotted out due to years of water damage.  

 

 

Then it was time to start rebuilding. He added a couple feet to the walls so the ceiling in there wouldn't be so short. 

 

 

 

Grandpa came over and helped us set the trusses. These ones were SO much easier to work with then the shop trusses. It was a piece of cake compared to those! 

 

 

Then we had to build the overhang. 

 

 

And install a nice big header beam across the whole thing because we had taken out the middle concrete support. 

 

 

Peanut was up on the house roof and took a picture of T and I while were roofing. 

 

 

She also took this one. 

 

 

 

The little ones wanted to go up on the roof when it was all finished. :) T was installing the last little bit. 

 

 

Then we had to add wood strips to the concrete walls so we would have something to nail the siding to. 

 

 

And then it was finally siding time! 

 

 

Ta da! It turned out beautifully and was finished in time for the graduation party! The only thing missing is a garage door. We will try to get one of those in before winter hits, but for now it is a great parking spot for Bug and Boo's cars.

 

 

I am so thankful for a handy husband who likes building things!

Leftover Thursday

Daddy had his foundation golf tournament fundraiser and Bug went along to help with the registrations. 

 

 

Lou and Peaches had a friend over after church for a couple hours to play. They had so much fun! 

 

 

Boo passed her driving tests! She got a 93% on the written and a 96% on the drive! Whoo hoo! Way to go Boo! Now we just wait for January 27th and go in to get her license!  

 

 

I bought her a milkshake on the way home to celebrate. :) 

 

 

We went to Grandma and Grandpa's on Labor day to hang out and also to pick up some wood, and an arch for the wedding. Apparently I didn't take any pictures all day, but the girls took my phone and got about twenty videos in the cellar and a few pictures. I think this is one of the only non-blurry ones. :P 

 

 

Peaches and Lou made a cake for the church potluck totally on their own! They had asked when I was on the treadmill and I said yes, thinking that they would wait for me to come up, but then they came down and told me they'd already made it. Peaches also said that she forgot the eggs and had to pour the batter back into the bowl to fix it and then they forgot to spray the pans so they had to pour it back into the bowl again, clean out the pans, and spray them. :P They made quite a mess, but I'm impressed that they did such a good job all on their own!
