VBS! - Part 1

 We had the most AMAZING year of VBS ever this year!!! When T was little he had a book called Adam Racoon and Bully Garumph. Grandma had given it to us in a box of his stuff and the girls liked it. Noni read it when she was here and then found out there were other Adam Racoon books so she bought them all. A few years ago she got the idea that it would be fun to do a VBS based off of Adam. 

It didn't work out for 2022 so she spent a year thinking about it and preparing for it for 2023! She emailed the author (who also does lots of famous Disney movies and created Rapunzel, Ariel, and the Beast to name a few) and got permission to do it and then spent months praying over it and drawing posters that Mama then colored. Noni worked SO hard to make everything perfectly organized and easy as could be for the teachers and workers and every minute paid off! We had the best VBS ever!! 

Bug was the Emcee and opened and closed each day. She did an AMAZING job! I was so proud of her! She was fun and energetic and got the kids' attention really well.

 

 

Lou was in and out of the preschool room. She stayed for one to two hours each day and then she was done. She hung out in the kitchen or with Noni when she wasn't in the room. Below she is in the yellow bow listening to the story. Each day was based off of one of the Adam Racoon books. 

 

 

Peanut's group had a little extra time between stations so their leader did this fun game with them.

 

 

Coming in from games and not too sure about going back to class. :)

 

 

Monday was Adam Racoon and Forever Falls so we did blue jello lagoons with gummy bears floating in "rafts". Bug did all the signs for me.

 

 

Bug and C helped deliver snacks when they were free.

 

 

Boo was a game leader this year. They were really organized and had some fun games for the kids! 

 

 

Bug put up the Mission Wall money each day and hyped the kids up about earning money to buy "Motos" - motorcycles for African Pastors so they can get around from village to village. 

 

 

Normally VBS has 4 stations (games, crafts, lesson, and bible verse/snacks) and is done at 11:30. Noni wanted to kick it up a notch and added a new station this year...the "Special Activity" and we let out at noon. She came up with some incredibly fun special activities! Tuesday was a petting zoo! Our friends the G family brought all sorts of animals! We brought four of our kitties and then they went home with two of the families. The kittens were mesmerized by the drive. :)

 

 

The girls were sad to give the kitties away but are hoping Tigger has another batch!

 

 

Day two was Bully Garumph and they play soccer in it so I used that to incorporate the fan-favorite VBS snack of "dirt and worms". 

 

 

 

I love working in the kitchen, especially with Bug as my helper!

 

 

The kids LOVED the petting zoo! It was a huge hit! There were goats, chickens, geese, a donkey and a pony! Plus the kitties.

Noni made motorcycles and with every $100 earned they got a part to put up. It's always boys vs. girls to make it interesting.

Father's Day!

 We had a wonderful Father's Day weekend! On Saturday we went over to Noni and Papa's for dinner. We brought Papa a few presents.

 

 

 Noni made meatloaf and mashed potatoes and homemade carrot cake!

 

 

It was a nice evening!

 

 

After church on Sunday we went into town and had lunch at Daddy's favorite sandwich place and then we went shopping and just enjoyed hanging out together.

 

 

Then we met up with Grandma and Grandpa for dinner. I love watching these two get together. I think they could talk 24/7 and figure out all the problems in the world if they had time. :)

 

 

Boo stole my phone. :P

 

 

We gave Grandpa his present in the parking lot.

 

 

The littles "helped" him open it. 

 

 

I went to take a picture of everyone and a nice lady offered to take it for me.

 

 

What a wonderful Father's Day celebrating! We are so blessed by the amazing men in our lives!

Lake Days!

 Well we've made it to the lake twice so far so we're doing better than we did last year, haha. Our summer weather definitely came earlier this year, then it left, then it came back, then it left. :P It's been a seesaw of warm/cool weather. 

Thankfully we were able to run down to the lake on one of the hotter days! The water was definitely not warm but that didn't stop the girls! They jumped right in and had a ball.

 

 

The teenagers spent most of their time on the dock...it's the cool place to be. :)

 

 

We didn't bring our kayaks down but some of their friends did.

 

 

Bug and Boo look a little hesitant here but they ended up swimming out to the logs even though it was so cold.

 

 

It's so pretty and peaceful down there!

Leftover Thursday

 On the first day of summer we gave the girls a few things...a new swimsuit, water balloons, chalk, crayons, and the littles got new swim goggles and basketballs.

 

 

I was surprised one day when Lou wanted to snuggle and then fell asleep...I should have realized she was getting sick and the next day she woke up with a fever, threw up for about three hours and then slept off and on most of the day. Thankfully it was quick and no one else got sick even though Peaches literally drank out of her water (accidentally) in between her vomiting bouts. 

 

 

Peaches wanted to take a selfie during bedtime books one night.

 

 

The girls got to stay the night at Noni's. She got them signed up for her library's summer reading program and then they went to the park.

 

 

They also got out the old kiddie pool and had a great time!

Wordless Wednesday

 

Wisdom Teeth

 Poor Bug had to have her wisdom teeth out. : / 

She actually did really well though! The surgeon was so nice and said her extraction was very routine...no problems and it went quickly. Her recovery seemed to go a lot smoother than I remember mine being. She said I could post the funny videos I got of her. She was quite hilarious when she was all loopy. When she first came out of the surgery she was VERY concerned about her tongue being gone. Here she is checking for the fifth time that it was still there.

 

 

And here's when she started to get funny...the Tacos are my favorite! 

 

 

 

 

Thankfully she fell asleep for the rest of the ride. Haha.
 

 

 And then slept off and on for the rest of the day. The doctor told us how to make ice packs out of socks and it worked really well.

 

 

The hardest part was getting her to eat. She barely had anything for two days.

 

 

 

They said the 48 hour mark would be the worst but she was actually doing good and even went swimming that day with some friends. I was expecting a lot of swelling but she did fine and was just slightly puffy for a few days. Not much fun, but all in all I'd say it went as perfect as it possibly could have! I'm glad that's done with...now we only have to do it four more times. Haha.
