Carpet!

On Thursday we went from this…

…to this!!!

We LOVE it!  The girls are absolutely ecstatic!  They have spent a good percentage of the past few days just running in circles up there, in their bare feet of course.  Half of their excitement has been the prospect of not having to wear shoes when going upstairs.  Haha :)

On Thursday night I got home from worship team and found all three of them in Boo’s playroom reading their bedtime books.

Yesterday I let them decorate their playrooms with some wall stickers I’d found at the dollar store.  They loved them!  I’m afraid Bug’s aren’t going to stay very well.  There was a miscommunication with the drywallers and Bug’s playroom got finished (taped/textured) but Boo’s just got rough-finished.  Her walls are just painted sheetrock so the stickers stay very well, but the bumpy texture in Bug’s isn’t very conducive to stick-age. :)

Bug was very deliberate about where she put each sticker, and being the firstborn, perfectionist that she is, her wall HAD to look like the one in the picture that came on the sticker sheet.  No free-style designing for her. :)

Boo was not so choosy, but I re-directed the ones that got too far off course.

We left Bug to finish her masterpiece and went to put on the ones in Boo’s playroom. 

She really wanted to pile them all together on top of each other.  And I, being a type-A, perfectionist, just like my oldest, was dying inside.  She was just not going with the pretty little design in my mind’s eye.  I kept encouraging her to spread them out, but I could hear T’s voice in my head telling me it was her playroom and to let her do it how she wanted so even though it just about killed me I let her put those stickers up on her own...not bad, just not what quite what I was going for. :)

Hopefully we’ll get the floor trim up soon so we can start moving them upstairs!  They were dying to sleep up there last night, but I am so afraid that if we start to move stuff in, that all those small little details will get pushed aside and still need to be done five years from now.  Plus we still have to get the final inspection before we can technically occupy the space.  Hopefully we can get finished up and get them moved in soon!!!

Grandma’s Easter Party

On Friday night we headed down to the farm so we would be there Saturday morning for Grandma’s annual Easter party.  All of Waylon’s cousins came over so we had a good group of kiddos.

We started the festivities with egg dying.

Then the kids played downstairs while Grandpa and the dads hid the eggs. The kids were excited to begin!

They made an easy section for the babies.  I guess I really should stop calling them the babies since they are two years old now!

I went and found Bug in the big kid section.  She was so excited.  She LOVES egg hunts.  Last year she asked me to hide eggs every day for weeks before Easter.  I would put her snack in them (fruit snacks, goldfish, ect.) and let her have at it.  This year I didn’t even get the Easter decorations out of the basement!  Our house has just been too much of a disaster to add to the chaos.  Next year I guess. :{

Grandma always has two special eggs: one gold, one silver.  They have money in them and are hidden VERY well.  We finally had to gather the kids in one area and tell them the gold egg was nearby. It was IN the end of one of the railroad ties. The oldest girl found it.

Then it was time for lunch.  Boo barely made it through lunch before she was ready for an early nap so she missed the rest of the festivities.  She had asked me at 11:00 if she could take a nap!  It’s hard work finding all those eggs!

After lunch the kids got to decorate cupcakes with all kinds of fun candies.

The last activity of the day was piñatas.  One of the families had made giant paper mache eggs.  Bug gave it a good whack and the candy came tumbling out.

After that the kids stayed outside playing and running, and chasing each other for another hour.  Bug was definitely tired by the time they all left!  What a fun party!  Thanks Grandma and Auntie Danae for all your hard work!

Christ is risen!

He is risen indeed!

We woke up this morning and did Easter baskets with the girls.  I had bought them these raincoats and rainboots a loooong time ago on a really great sale and they are finally the right size.  The boots are the perfect but the coats will still be a little big for a while. 

I knew they would get tons of candy from Grandma’s annual Easter party (will post about that tomorrow) so they only got one little chocolate bunny in their baskets. :)

Noni and I had to run to church to be in the Easter quartet at the early service and then we came back and got lunch in the oven and crockpots.  Then it was back to church for Sunday school and the late service, and then back home for our Easter lunch with Noni, Papa, Grandma, and Grandpa. 

The girls (and even baby!) got a second round of Easter baskets from Noni and Papa.

Halfway There!

Somehow we are at 20 weeks today!  I was keeping pretty good track of the weeks for a while, but it seemed to go from 17 to 20 overnight.  This pregnancy has gone a LOT faster than the other two, so far.  With Bug I was so excited about every little thing that it seemed to take forever, and with Boo I was so miserable, first with being sick and then with being super uncomfortable that it also seemed to take forever.  This one is just breezing by!  I figured I’d better get a first belly pic since I’m already at 20 weeks!

I definitely haven’t been as sick with this one, but what little sickness I have had seems to be lasting longer.  The lay-on-the-couch every night queasiness went away around 15 weeks, replaced with a mild, but functioning queasiness until about 18 weeks.  Now I feel pretty good but I lose my appetite every afternoon between 4-5.  This doesn’t make for good dinner planning.  We have pretty much been eating sandwiches or pizza for dinner…every night.  If we have anything going (which is the case most evenings) I eat a small snack, feed the girls, and then force myself to eat something when we get home. I have made a ‘real’ dinner less than half a dozen times in the last month.  T told me he’s lost 6 pounds!  Haha :)

Once again I cannot do chicken.  The only way I can eat it is if it’s already cooked and in something, aka: covered in sauce.  T loves chicken, and is definitely missing it.  I did break down and make his favorite chicken dish a few weeks ago when my mom and Grandma were here for dinner.  The sight/smell of it made me so nauseous I had to leave the house!  I went to the grocery store while everyone else ate. :P

I have been craving fruit this time around.  Especially strawberries.  And raspberries.  Yum. I never buy raspberries because they are so expensive, but I just had to have them the other day.  I paid four dollars for this tiny little container and ate them all in one sitting!

The other day I was totally craving pretzels and Sprite which was so funny because those are two things I normally DO NOT like.  I only drink Sprite when I’m sick and I will very rarely eat pretzels.  I pretty much have to be starving to attempt to eat pretzels.  I’ve just never liked them, but the other day it sounded so good!  T got some from the store and I ate pretzels for a snack all week.

Pizza is my other go-to.  It almost always sounds good.  Homemade, frozen, take and bake, delivery.  I like it all!

The girls have been so sweet with this pregnancy.  Bug especially has been taken with my growing stomach and she rubs it and talks to the baby all the time.  She will often run to me before leaving for school and kiss my stomach and say bye to the baby.  She also likes to bring me water or whatever she thinks I need at the moment.  Sometimes she says, “It’s not for you, it’s for the baby.”  Haha :)  She is still REALLY wanting a baby sister.  I hope she won’t be too disappointed if it’s a boy.  We keep telling her God will give us exactly who we need for our family, but she’s pulling hard for another sister.

Boo also likes to rub my belly and will sometimes randomly stop and say, “You belly getting’ big Mama!” Haha :)  If she bumps into me or pushes on my stomach when getting up she says, “I sq-ish baby?”

I started feeling baby kick around 16 weeks.  It seemed to take longer since I felt Boo at 14 (Bug at 18).  T has felt baby kicking, but it is so slight that the girls haven’t felt it yet.  Although that is changing.  Last night baby gave a really big kick and then started rolling around, so I think the girls will be able to feel it soon.

Our ultrasound is next Friday and we’ll be finding out what this baby is!  Any guesses??  I have absolutely no idea.  With both girls I was totally convinced they were boys, and with this one I thought it was a girl from the start…which made me think maybe it was a boy since I’ve been wrong both times before.  :) But now I really don’t know. 

It will be fun to find out what baby is!  I never feel truly connected to the baby until I know.  Before finding out it’s just “it” or “baby” and I don’t do much daydreaming about it, but once I know the gender I feel like I know the little person so much better and I daydream about what they will look like and what kind of personality they will have.  Only one more week till I can do that!  We can’t wait!

Wordless Wednesday

April Fools

I’m not a huge fan of April Fools.  Does anyone actually like to be tricked??  But I figured I should do a little something for the day.  I saw this idea on a Tip Junkie: “juice” that is really Jell-O.  They were very excited since they never get juice! 

Bug: “It’s not working!”

She looked over to Boo to make sure she didn’t have the only defective juice.

Bug: “It’s Jell-O!  You TRICKED me!”  She was quite affronted. Boo on the other hand was just happy to have Jell-O for breakfast with her blueberry scone. :)

(You can see our first sibling war wound.  Her sister threw a magazine at/toward her…I didn’t see it happen. Lovely.)

Bug got over it too once we gave her a spoon.

Bug made me promise that there would be no more April Fools jokes/tricks for the rest of the day.  The rest of us weren’t so lucky.  All. Day. Long. we heard things like “Daddy’s wearing a pink shirt.  APRIL FOOLS!” and “I  ate cookie.  APRIL FOOLS!”  and “Somebody’s at the door!  APRIL FOOLS!” Thank heavens it only lasts one day a year. :)

We worked like crazy this weekend to get some stuff done on the upstairs.  We made a list of everything we have to get done before the carpet gets here and T took the afternoon off today so we can get it all done.  This weekend he and his Dad got all the doors in and all the windows cased and trimmed!  It is really looking nice!

I spent the weekend painting…as usual. :)  Noni came over on Saturday and helped. 

We let the girls help paint a little since it was their playrooms and storage rooms that we were doing.  I finally got smart and put shower caps on their heads.  It’s a little difficult to get paint out of kids’ hair!

Boo took her job very seriously! :)

They definitely needed a bath after all that! 

I spent Sunday painting trim.

And today it’s doors. 

I’m just about all painted out!  I’m not going to want to do any painting for a loooong time! :P  Noni is coming over tomorrow for what is hopefully our last day of painting!

Then I just have to do some major cleaning up on Wednesday and we’ll be ready for carpet on Thursday!!!!  So exciting! 

After the carpet we will just have the floor trim and a few other things to do, including Boo’s dresser and bookshelves, and then we’ll be able to move them up!  I’m really hoping for the week after Easter, but realistically it will probably the week after (the 16th).  So close!
