Halloween dawned with a gorgeous sunrise! I had been seeing so much online about "should Christians take part in Halloween" and how dark this holiday is, and waking up to this sky felt like a message from God telling me the world might try to claim this day, but it is His creation no matter what humans may try.
We had pumpkin pancakes for breakfast.
Then we packed up and headed to Boo's volleyball tournament. She had an 11:00 game in the city. I dropped the little ones off with Noni on the way which was very helpful because I needed to run the scoreboard during the game and wouldn't have been able to sit with them.
They lost their first game which meant they played at 3:30. Boo had accidentally left her volleyball shoes at home and she ended up wearing my tennis shoes that were a little big for her. T had been planning on a half day since Peanut had one and needed to be picked up at noon so they met us in town for lunch and brought the shoes. Then he went to Lowes and Peanut and I took Boo to the next location to warm up for her game. Noni met us there with the little ones and stayed with Boo for that game and the rest of us headed home to get ready for Trick-or-Treating! Our first stop was the hospital to see the residents. They were eating dinner so we didn't stay too long.
Then we went to the retirement home and talked to them for a bit. We had a few more minutes before we had to meet up with our friends so we hit Mr. B and Mrs. J's house and met their new puppy. :)
And then went to Ms. B's house. She is Mama's bestie and just turned 99!! She's awesome.
Then we headed over to the B's house. It was quite chilly and Peanut's costume was very thin but she didn't want to ruin it with a coat. :P Her friend S decided to come trick-or-treating with us. She didn't have a costume and Bug wasn't coming so S became the Mandalorian. The helmet was hard to see out of but she kept it on the whole night! Peanut led her around so she wouldn't trip and fall.

and set off! Between kids and parents I counted 29 of us! Plus two dogs, haha.
I am not a fan of Halloween, but I LOVE the way our small town does it. It is like a big town party with hundreds of people out in the streets laughing and talking. Most people do nice decorations (nothing terribly gory or scary) and are so delighted to see the kids in their costumes. They also freely accept the teenagers and are happy to give them candy and a chance to stay a kid for another day. It's so sweet.
The G family goes all out and has a different theme every year! This year was funny green aliens. :)
It was cold (42) but thankfully the rain held off until the very end. We were only a few blocks from the car when it started. We did three hours in all! The girls were excited to go home and sort their candy. They got a whole bucket this year!
