Because of piano lessons we were able to see our sweet missionary friends almost weekly the whole time they were home for their furlough. It was an incredible blessing of friendship, but also made the goodbyes a lot harder than usual since the kids had gotten so much closer this time!
The lake near their house had mostly frozen over so they invited us over to play and say our goodbyes. We didn't let the kids go too far from shore, but it was definitely very thick ice where we were! It was fun to push the snow away and look down through the water. In one spot we could see a cement cinder block down at the bottom in the frozen ice!
They brought a broom and the kids made a sliding area and wanted us to time them to see who could run and slide through it the fastest. I think Bug ended up being the winner, but by the time they perfected their moves they could all cross it in mere seconds. :)
Buggy and A used their feet to make a message in the snow. It said, "Hello World!" and then they added the fruit of the spirit throughout the letters. :)
Lou had a hard time staying on her feet and keeping her hat on, but she was having fun. :)
One last picture together.
Noni brought some sleds, and at first the kids used them on the ice.
But they eventually moved to the hill and had fun taking turns going down.
They brought a big sled that a bunch of them could fit on at the same time.
They did not want to give up and go home even though it was getting dark. This was all seven kids going down together. :)
I got too cold to stay out any longer and went to the car to warm up. They lasted about ten more minutes in the fading light.
And then they handed out cupcakes since it was I's birthday the day before.
We sure will miss them, and are hoping the next two to three years go by quickly so we can be reunited once again!
