Butterflies

Noni gave us 9 larva this year! When we first got them they were so tiny!  

 

A week later they were getting pretty long and fat! 

 

They made their chrysalises pretty quickly and we only lost one. He fell from the lid during the chrysalis process. We left him there in hopes he would survive, but he eventually shriveled up. 

Peanut knocked another chrysalis to the bottom when she bumped it one day, but since it was fully formed it ended up being fine.

It seemed like a long wait, but the butterflies finally started to emerge! I love watching the process. It's such a great picture of the way we change when Jesus comes into our hearts. It reminds me of the verse in 2 Corinthians 5:17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

We kept the butterflies for a few days because it was raining every time we had time to let them go, but we finally had a nice day and were able to release them! 

 

I missed the butterfly in this picture, but still got a cutie pie! ;)

Peanut was SO excited about the butterflies. She was running and jumping and shouting, "Fly butterflies FLY!" 

Love this sweet girl!
