Apple Cider

On Sunday afternoon we headed up to the “Ranch” where Uncle Wade’s sister and her family live. Her husband is the manager/foreman of the ranch.

It was absolutely gorgeous up there! It’s very remote, on top of a mountain. I don’t know if I could live that far from stores, but having this view out my front windows might be worth it!!

The horses were fun to watch as they lazily grazed in the pasture.

The girls had lots of little friends to play with so they were so happy!  It’s kind of funny but Waylon has four girl cousins and one boy cousin on each side.

We spent all afternoon chopping, and grinding, and squishing up apples.

They had the same old kind of cool wooden press that our friends do. 

The girls found it fascinating to watch.

We had quite the crew and ended up with 30 gallons of apple cider!!!

Peanut missed her entire nap and was SO busy transferring apples from place to place.

Before we left the girls got invited to go feed the horses.  Here’s Peanut with one of the girls who lives there.

She looks so little compared to the horses!

This is a breeding ranch and apparently they implant specially bred embryos into surrogate (older, less “valuable”) mothers.  So here are some of the mamas and their babies-that-are-not-really-theirs.

But as far as they’re concerned they are theirs. :)
