Leftover Thursday

There was a Youth Group movie night fundraiser at church one Saturday so I took the girls We got hot dogs and nachos and they enjoyed watching the movie cars. :)

 

I turned Lou away from the screen, but she was trying to see it. Haha.

 

Noni working with Peaches on some things...

Apparently Peaches took this picture. I'm doing dishes, Daddy is getting lunch on the table and Boo appears to be waiting to scare someone. Haha!

We went and had a picnic with some of our church friends. They also have a big above ground pool so the kids got to swim for about an hour before we headed home!

Daddy took the three big girls to a baseball game and it was Harry Potter night so Boo got all dressed up and as a Ravenclaw and wanted a picture with her cat. :)

 

He said it was a little long for Peanut who got bored about the fifth inning. :P

Wordless Wednesday

Their "Rooms"

One night after we'd got the sheeting up for a little bit of a rim around the outside we let the girls climb the ladder and come see their future rooms.

They each wanted a picture in their room. Peanut's...

Peaches'...we would not let her walk around freely. She probably would have been somersaulting off the edge. :P

The next day we started on the walls!

And we've already made SO much progress since that picture. Will post updates soon!

Walls and Floors!

So much progress is happening on the house! Something new has been going up almost every day! 

We started out August with just a couple of walls up. 

 

And slowly plugged along. A couple hours every night, and then a big burst of progress on the weekends. 

Because the garage is below half of the upstairs we had to have some major boards and beams to make it secure.  I think this "post" is 9 or 10 2x6's.

And we had to buy three engineered beams to meet code. The middle one is HUGE! They used the pickup and a lot of leverage to get it into place. 

Grandpa and Grandma came over almost every weekend in August and were a HUGE help!!

Framing is so fun because it's so much visible progress so quickly! 

Buggy is our babysitter when we work in the evenings. She is doing a great job with Lou. Boo does great too when Buggy is unavailable. I'm hoping she'll be able to take the same Safe Sitter class that Bug did when she gets old enough.

Starting on the upstairs floor...

We got a record breaking rainfall one weekend and even though we laid down sheeting and tarps a lot of water still came in. Thankfully we were able to get it cleaned up and dried out and it didn't seem to damage anything. 

Over the course of another week we slowly got the upstairs sheeted.

We both totally forgot about Peanut and Peaches' window seat so we had to backtrack and put it on.

It's coming!

School Supplies

 The girls supplies arrived a couple weeks before school started. They were so excited to get them opened...so much so that we spent almost two hours cleaning out the school room with not a single complaint! It was a back-to-school miracle. Haha! 

I just don't know where the time is going! I can't believe we are going into our 8th year of homeschooling! That saying, "The days are long, but the years are short." is SO true. The days do seem long at times, but the years just seem to slip away.

 

Buggy was so excited to find that the school sent her a microscope!! Pretty awesome! 

If we send her to Christian school for high school, like we've been planning, she only has two more years at home! So sad!

For some reason the boxes of school supplies didn't overwhelm me this year. Maybe I'm finally getting a good handle on this homeschooling thing? (one would hope so after 7 years, haha) Or maybe I just have a false sense of security and the start of the school year will hit me just as hard as usual. Lol. Time will tell.

Funny Friday

Peaches needs this shirt. She is in that phase where she wants to do everything herself...put on her shoes, buckle her car seat, etc. but it is literally painful to watch her try to do it and it takes forever! :P

Speaking of babies...Noni found this picture of me when I was little. I think Lou might actually look the most like me!

Not chilling...I was stopped for a bit while driving so I figured I would get proof that she is a terrible car rider! Thankfully she doesn't do this ALL the time anymore...just about half the time. :P 

 

Here's a video. She can scream for an entire car trip...which can be up to an hour when you live in a rural area. It's not so fun. :(

Buggy found a recipe for quick cinnamon rolls. They are more of a biscuit dough but quite delicious!

Lou's first basket ride! I was really proud of us...all five girls and I did a Costco run in under 45 minutes!
