Play Doh Fun

The girls LOVE to do Playdoh!  They can literally sit and play for hours…at least the big two can. :) The only problem is that it makes a big mess every time so I only allow them to do it on days I am already planning to do the floors because I know I’ll end up doing the floors after they’re done playing anyway!

Bug, our energetic ball of fire, can sit and meticulously create tiny little masterpieces.  This time it was donuts.

Boo usually makes whatever K is making. :)

And Peanut has only just discovered the joy of Playdoh and so far has made…a big crumbly mess!

I like to see what their creative minds come up with though, and I think it’s a good hands on activity so we’ll keep doing Playdoh even though it should be called make-a-mess-dough! :)

Wordless Wednesday

Bucket Head

Last week there was a staff appreciation BBQ at the hospital where the administration does all the cooking so we went up to have lunch and watch Daddy grilling hamburgers and hotdogs in his work clothes. :)  He was able to take a little break and join us for lunch.  They had a bunch of lawn games set up so the girls wanted to give Croquet a try.

I pretty much just followed Peanut around keeping her out of trouble.

Trouble is her middle name these days!  Case(s) in point: she would take a bite of her hamburger, chew it up, and spit it out onto the plate we were sharing.  She threw her bun on the ground. She cried when we wouldn’t give her dessert because she didn’t eat her lunch.  She threw one of the Bocci balls under a prickly bush and I had to scratch my arm up to get it out, and another one landed underneath an overhang of the building which took some finagling to get out.  She thought it was great fun to grab rocks out of the flower beds and decorate the lawn with them.  She wouldn’t slow down and was running everywhere, consequently tripping on a uneven bump in the grass and smacking her forehead on the cement sidewalk.  What else…oh yet, she was wielding a croquet mallet like a broadsword.

I turned around to watch Boo for a minute and turned back to find this.

Love that smug look on her face.  She was awfully proud of her new hat.

Oh Peanut, our busy busy girl!  Good think your adorable-ness combats the pure exhaustion from keeping up with you! :)

Rapunzel

Whew.  Another busy weekend has come and gone! If we don’t slow down here soon I’m afraid we’re going to hit warp speed!  Friday night we were headed in different directions.  K, S, and I went to a Zumbathon to raise money for a local lady who has cancer.  T took Peanut to a awards ceremony/dessert for the hospital. 

Saturday, T reconstructed a floor at the church workday from 8-2:45.  I spent the day cleaning the house and prepping for a freezer meal workshop which K, S, and I left for at 2:46.  As soon as we returned he took the tweedles back up to the church to clean up his mess from earlier.  They picked up a pizza on the way home at 6 and we spent the evening watching the Lego movie Adventures of Clutch Powers. 

Sunday was church, into town for a quick lunch, and then dropping off Peanut at Noni’s where Mama stayed with her so she could nap while we took the girls to a local Christian youth theater’s production of Rapunzel!  We had given Bug the tickets for her birthday and they were so excited to see the show!

I was SO impressed!  These kids did an amazing job and there were 78 cast members as well as 20+ backstage kids!!!  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a play with that many people before!  The talent, the sets, the costumes, it was all great!

The girls wanted a picture on the stage at intermission.

Our Music Pastor from high school (who married us) was the director and his wife was the musical director.  Two of their kids were part of the show too.  The girls wanted to meet Rapunzel afterwards and she was very sweet.

What a fun event!

Ba-Ba-Ba, Ba-Ba, Ba-Na

The other day we were eating dinner when Peanut bust out with the minion-esque “Ba-ba-ba, ba-ba, ba-na!”  It was so spontaneous that it cracked us all up.  We had to get a video of her doing it again later.

Funny Friday

This used to be my motto, but it was truly exhausting because when you live in a small town people tend to just drop by more often.  That’s not a bad thing unless your house looks like a disaster.  Ever since we started the school year in September I have tried really hard to keep the mess at a manageable level.  It is by no means picture perfect in here but at least I’m not totally embarrassed if someone comes by unannounced. :)

I had to send this to my sister-in-law because we are both big Friends fans.

Impromptu BBQ

A couple of weeks ago we had a quick taste of summer.  We’ve been having a pretty nice spring, but for two days in a row we got up in the high 70’s with lots of sunshine.  Our county allows certain times where you can burn your yard waste and it  was during those two days so T suggested we have a hot dog roast and smores.  I gathered up the stuff for an impromptu picnic outside while he got the fire going.

They don’t look too thrilled in these pictures, but I promise they were.  :)

The smores were definitely the best part!

I had to move Peanut out of the smoke, so she happily enjoyed her dessert in front of the fence.

Although apparently she didn’t get enough dessert because I let her play in the sandbox while I cleaned up the dinner things and found her a few minutes later like this.  It brought that old elementary school saying to mind, “If God made dirt than dirt don’t hurt!”  :P

After our burst of warm weather we are really looking forward to summer!!!
