Happy Birthday Boo!

Our sweet “baby” girl woke up as a big 3 year old today! Wow. Time really does fly. It seems like just yesterday she was Peanut’s size.

Interview with a 3 year old:

12. Your best friend: Wapunzel (I think she means K, they play Rapnzel/Eugene all day)

Dear Boo Bear,

Happy Birthday sweet girl! You bring us so much joy. You make us laugh at least a dozen times a day. I love your enthusiasm for life. Everything is so much more exciting when you’re there. I love that you rarely walk anywhere. You skip and prance your way through life.

I love the way you talk and sing to yourself when you are playing. Listening to you always brings a smile to my face. You LOVE to pretend right now. You are almost always Rapunzel or Eugene. Your imagination is in full bloom!

You are such a good sister. Buggy loves you so much, and while you often fight, the good definitely outweighs the bad. You two play all day long, and when you are apart you miss each other so much. You are a wonderful BIG sister too! You are so gentle with Peanut. You give her sweet hugs and kisses everyday. She loves it when you play with her.

You have been a very easy two year old. While you do have your moments, you are very obedient and are quick to say, “Yes ma’am!” when Mommy asks you to do something…although you often get distracted on the way to do whatever it was. :)

There is no better feeling in the world than your thin little arms around my neck and hearing you say, “I wuv you Ma-ma!” Every night when I’m telling you goodnight you say, “Ma-ma! Stay here FOREVER!” I wish I could baby girl. I wish I could just push pause and enjoy this sweet age FOREVER!

I love you more than I ever thought possible. You make our lives a better place. I thank God for you every day. I hope you always keep your joy for life. Happy birthday sweet girl.

Johnny Jumper

Jumping is definitely Peanut’s favorite activity these days! As long as she can see someone she will happily jump for up to half an hour at a time. It’s especially helpful when I’m cooking so she usually jumps three times a day: during breakfast, while I’m making lunch, and while I’m making dinner.

She sits in the highchair and plays with toys while we eat lunch, and she is usually napping when we eat dinner.

She was getting frustrated that she couldn’t get the toy part into her mouth so I attached some rings. Yum!

The pouch is a little big for her so I have to stuff a blanket behind her…or a little friend for her to jump with because if I don’t her head rubs against the back strap. Peek-a-boo, we see you Mr. Giraffe. :)

Bug LOVED the jumper too, but Boo didn’t care for it at all. I think we only tried it a couple of times with her and then gave up and put it away because she would just scream. I sure am glad Peanut likes it! It makes cooking a lot easier when I have two hands to work with!

Snowman

These pictures were actually from before Christmas. We still have snow and the girls have been asking to go out and play everyday, but it’s been too cold. I don’t like to send them out unless it is at least in the upper 20’s. Today I woke up and checked my phone and it said 8. With a high of 23. I guess we’ll be stuck inside again. :{ I did see a 34 in the forecast later this week so maybe we’ll finally be able to get outside and enjoy some more snow fun!

These pictures were taken before we had a winter storm that was predicted to give us between 2-4 inches, after which we woke up to 8-10 inches!

This particular snow was just a few inches so T and K went out during naps to shovel (not enough to bother with getting the snowblower out) and Buggy finally got to make a big snowman! She was so happy! She came in for a scarf, hat, and carrot for the nose. They got gloves, a broom and some electrical wire (for the smile) from the garage. :)

This doesn’t look like much snow to me since we’ve had at least two feet out there for over a month now. This little area is where snow gets piled up from both sides and usually has a pretty good lump. I looked out later to see that T had made Bug a little snow cave. :)

She was pretending to be a bunny. :)

So happy!

Now we just need it to warm up so we can get back out there and enjoy the snow!

5 Months!

Peanut turned 5 months last Tuesday!

This past month we have seen the biggest changes yet! She is getting such a little personality!

The changes were so apparent because we were gone for two weeks. When we got home I just expected her to be the same as she’d been when we left, and that made me realize how much she’d changed!

When we left she was active, but for the most part was content to watch us all, keenly observing the action going on around her. In the space of those two weeks she decided it was time to get in on some of that action for herself!

She has a new and improved “vocabulary” of shrieks, screams, and loud noises that she practices daily.

Her new favorite activity is jumping in the Johnny Jumper or her Jumperoo. She LOVES to jump! When we hold her she jumps up and down on our legs until we put her in one of them. :)

Everything is going in the mouth! She wanted everything in her mouth before, but now she has the skills to actually get things there! This isn’t a perfected talent, but she works hard, at every waking moment to improve her grabbing and the fist to mouth coordination. :)

One of her biggest new things is giving kisses. She loves to give big old slobbery kisses! She can be jumping up a storm but if you put your face close to hers she gets very still and turns toward your cheek to give you a kiss. So sweet!

Another big change is that she is really laughing! Before she would give us a short laugh that was more of an loud intake of breath. Now, she will actually laugh/giggle for 5-10 seconds at a time. It is SO cute! Tickles, jiggles, and silly songs are the best way to guarantee a laugh out of her!

The Bucking Bronco is also a new move. If she wants to get out of a sitting position she throws her belly forward and bucks. We have to hang onto her pretty good because she can throw herself right out of your lap if you’re not paying attention!

Her eyes are also rapidly turning brown. They were that dark, infant navy blue for a while, and the brown slowly started creeping in. Now they are about 80% brown, 20% navy.

Her schedule is the same as last month with the exception that she gets up a little earlier ever since our Christmas travels. She used to wake up between 8-9 and now its more like 7:15-7:45. I’m hoping she’ll go back to sleeping in a little more. :)

She continues to fill our days with joy and laughter. We love you baby girl! Happy 5 months!

SUPERparty!

A couple of weeks ago we got to go to a totally awesome Superhero party! I thought everything was SO adorable!!! Probably because I am so used to princess parties with nothing but pink and sparkles and wands and crowns. :) I loved the change of pace!

I had to take a picture of some of the fun details my friend did. Loved the comic paper cones holding Cheetos!

They rented a jumpy castle even though it was cold. We figured the kids wouldn’t mind and we were right. They barely seemed to notice it was cold and probably would have stayed out there all day!

They made this adorable “telephone” for quick Superhero changing. What a fun idea!!!

I don’t think our girls even knew what Superheroes were, but they caught on to the fun pretty quick!

Coolest party favors EVER! My friend actually MADE each child a Superhero cape with their first initial on it! Amazing!!!

At one point I looked around for Boo and found her sitting in a corner where she had discovered a basket of books. :)

They also had made this awesome backdrop for the kids to have fun taking pictures! So neat!

Advent

Okay, one last Christmas-related post…

This year the girls had Mommy’s Advent Calendar and Daddy’s. Daddy’s was the Lego Advent Calendar that he bought back in October. They loved putting together the little figures or scenes each night.

Mommy’s advent calendar was a bit more work. :) I used one of the ideas I found on Pintrest last year and got to it. It ended up being more work because I waited until the last minute…like the evening of December 1st and just ran to the local grocery store to buy the cups. If I’d been organized I would have bought cups in the colors…or at least white ones, but my only option was yellow and brown so I had to cover each cup with scrapbook paper. Then I used my Cricut to make the numbers and snowflakes. It took me several hours to get it all ready, but it turned out really cute so I was happy. :) I’m going to pack it up so I can use it again next year.

We started out the next morning with Christmas pancakes!

Three of the days throughout the month were small presents that they got to open.

I saw this idea on Real Simple: food-coloring in squirt bottles to decorate the snow. The LOVED it! I had sent them out the day before to play in the snow and they were cold and crying within 20 minutes. With the squirt bottles they stayed out for over an hour! I even had to refill them halfway through.
