March Snow!

We have had such a mild winter! T was telling me that we've only had 4 inches of accumulation...total! Everyone has been talking about it because of the lack of snow pack. That could mean a really bad fire summer for us. Since we were already into mid-March I figured winter was over and I had just checked the forecast and seen some 60's in the 10 day so I was very surprised to wake up one Friday to a 2 hour late start alert on my phone. I looked out the window and was shocked to see we had about 4 inches! I didn't even know it was supposed to snow!

 

 

 

I saw a meme that day that said, "C'mon Spring! At least TRY to fight back!" Haha. 

 

 

An hour later we got a school cancellation notice since it was still snowing and the roads weren't improving. It ended up snowing the entire day and into the night giving us a total of about 6 inches! The little ones were already planning to spend the night at Noni's that day so we threw in their snow clothes and they had a blast with this second winter!

 

 

 

I'm so glad they got to have some snow fun! 

 

 

 

They started to build a snowman but Lou said they got distracted. Haha. Noni sent us this picture after they'd come home and said Bug added to it. :)

 

 

 While they were busy sledding we were busy getting kids ready for prom! Just not our own kids. Haha! Our friend J asked one of the girls from camp (and Boo's friend) to go with him, but she doesn't live here so she came up and spent the weekend with us and Boo helped her get ready all day. Then I took pictures of them before they left. He has a really cool blue Mustang that T helped him buy.

 

 

They are just friends and not actually dating so we did some creative prom pictures instead of the usual couples ones, haha. :)  

 

 

 

They are both sweet Christian kids and it was fun to be part of their prom memories!  

 

And now I'm REALLY ready for Spring! :) 

MS Basketball Tournament!

 Peanut had a great tournament! It was a two day so they got to miss quite a bit of school which she wasn't mad about, haha. Their first game we were expecting them to win because they'd beaten this team during the season but it was a tough fought game. 

 

 It was close the whole time and the score went back and forth.

 

 

Daddy was able to get off work, and Noni and Papa were able to come as well so Peanut had a good fan base!  

 

 

And we got to see her score! 

 

 

Whoo hoo! 

 

 

Unfortunately they didn't end up pulling off the win so they got knocked into the "loser's bracket" and went to the other side of the gym to play another game. We had to sit on these little bleachers. They are very short but Peaches and Lou were still able to go underneath and play cards during the game, haha.

 

 

Their next game was a little more relaxing. This was the team we'd beaten pretty badly in season play, but they really stepped up and didn't let us trounce them as soundly this time!  

 

 

Peanut didn't get to play quite as much in this one.  

 

 

But she did get in and score a couple of baskets!  

 

 

And worked on her defense. 

 

 

The coaches do a pretty good job getting everyone playing time...hard to do with 14 kids on the team! Two points! 

 

 

 

The next day the little ones and I were in town with Bug so Daddy took off early and picked up Boo and N early from school so we could all go to the tournament.

 

 

Lou has warmed up to N pretty quick. At first she said he was scary because he is so tall. :P I guess she got over that, haha.  

 

 

Boo got this one. 

 

 

The first game that day was intense! This is the really tough team that we just barely beat in the season.  

 

 

But our kids really worked together and played hard! 

 

  

 

It was a tight game with every basket counting! 

 

 

And we won by 5 points! Way to go team!! 

 

 

That win put us in one of the championship games where we ended up playing the green team that we lost to the day before. They were playing for 3rd and 4th place.  

 

 

Noni and Papa were able to come up and join us for this final game of the season. Peanut played hard!  

 

 

And we won!!  

 

 

3rd place! 

 

 

So proud of these kids and how hard they worked this season! It was fun to see how much they improved in such a short time. They really did an amazing job! I'm so glad Peanut got to have this experience! I really hope she decides to play next year on the high school team and continues to improve her skills!

Club Tournament 3!

Another tournament has come and gone! This one was a little different because both Noni and Boo's boyfriend, N, got to come with me! Noni and I left church a little early and met up with N on the way. We got there in time to see the last morning game and it was a little rough. They weren't playing as well as they usually do and ended up losing in two sets. Then they got their lunch break and were able to eat and relax for a bit. It was so nice having Noni there because even though there was still snow on the ground it was sunny and beautiful and we were able to go for a long walk.

We came back for their first afternoon game and it was against one of the better teams, but the food and rest must have been just what they needed because they really stepped it up! The first set was a little rough with a 13-25 loss, but then the second game they went after it and ended up winning 27-25! The third set they really blew them out of the water with a 15-7 win! 

 

 

Boo had a couple of good serving runs.

They weren't expected to win and it was a hard fought game but they pulled it off! 

 

 They didn't have another game on the schedule, in fact they were supposed to work the following game, but since they won the other team had to work and they got to go to a different court to play another game. I grabbed this picture of Boo and N while we were waiting to hear if we were going to play again. So cute. :) 

 

 

 They were excited to play another game and were ready to go! 

 

 

 

The other team pulled off the first set, but then we rallied and won the second. Then they were ready for a third. 

 

 

 

I didn't get any pictures because I was too into the game. It was back and forth and they had to go into...overtime? Lol I don't think that's what it's called in volleyball. Maybe it's just extra points. They would go up by one, then we would go up by one, back and forth several times, but the other team ended up pulling off the win. It was a hard fought game! We were the only two teams left in the whole gym by the time they finished. We had been done by 3:45 at the previous tournament but at this one it was after 5 before we finally got out of there. I'm glad we got to watch an extra game though! One more tournament to go!
